That's awesome if true, what a money spinner!
Do you know if this money gets pumped back into the Blues by CAC (who presumably get the money as they own CAP)

Casartelli wrote:Sorry Alyn - I'm even more confused now. Are you suggesting they've actually sold 833 season tickets, but are claiming this as a membership of 5000? By including the free one and the kids seats?
They've just pulled off a fantastic win away to Leinster, they don't need this kind of 'good news story' mumbo jumbo.
It would be a genuine shame if the management/laptop/marketing entourage weren't of the same calibre as the playing squad.
Best stick to the facts, eh?
Whats confusing? You can buy 1 ticket, can get a free adult one under the adult introduce a person scheme and also claim up to 4 free children seats. So in theory you can pay £165 for your ticket, take your wife and 4 kids with you = 6 seats. It's not too hard to understand surely?
And no I'm not saying they only sold 833 seats, they have sold 6,000 or so now. I was there twice today at 1pm and 3pm and people were queueing for tickets all that time, their flying out. The £165 are almost gone the only ones left are high in the stands on the corners according to the ladies i spoke to today.

Still don't understand whether they're claiming to have sold c.1000 season tickets, 3000, or 6000.
If they've sold 6000, and every one of those takes a 'wife and 4 kids' (presumably anyones wife and kids) - you could get 36,000 people turning up at the Liberty to a big game???
Past caring now. Great finale to the Rabo and hope that this, combined with whatever this ticket scheme is, brings in some bigger crowds next season.

If they have actually sold 6,000 then I think that is a great start.
Assuming they take 1 person with them then that's 12,000 home crowds plus other ones from other tickets plus away fans.
Could they be looking at full houses next season.
It would be awesome if they did however they got them in. I am sure it would benefit the players enormously to have full crowds there.
Feeling pretty positive about this, The Scarlets continued season on season crowd increases and hopefully some good crowds down at the Arms Park. The Dragons don't seem to ever get much more than 6,000 but that generates a decent atmosphere in a ground that holds about 9,000 until they redevelop other parts of the ground.
All good, looking forward to next season.

Re: 8,000 and rising and OSPREYS news Update
Is anyone else concerned that this is too cheap? The secret that the Ospreys are in financial trouble is out now and whist its great that they are selling lots of tickets, they still need to generate income to pay their bills.
Say each season ticket entitles you to 11 Rabo games, 2 Lv Cup games and 3 Heineken games. Lets forget about play offs and any friendlies. That is 16 games for £165. But under the new deal you can bring one adult and up to 4 children on this ticket. Say each season ticket holder as an average brings one adult and one child. That is £165 for 3 seats at 16 games. That equals less than £4 per ticket! So for a big Heineken game 6000 season tickets, 3 people on each at £4 per head = £72,000. THat is the equivalent of a 3600 crowd at an avearge of £20 per ticket!
Can they continue to function as a professional club with such low returns?

I dont think HC games are included in your season ticket, also if like you said the ST holder brings one extra adult and four kids, thats five extra drinks they will sell, or five extra hotdogs, also with premiership football to compete with, perhaps these extra people will but a new ticket the season after.

It includes 11 Rabo, 3 HC, 2 Amlin and 1 pre-season friendly.

Ospreys are generating an atmosphere which is good but they are not geenrating much extra income - thats bad.

When was the last time you bought a season ticket? HEC pool games have always been included in the price.
Re food and drink; what share do the Ospreys get out of a hotdog for example as it seems that a seperate company does the catering at the Liberty. I guess the arrangement is similar to Cardiff Blues and Cardiff City at CCS where the catering company kept the lions share of any profits. Cardiff Blues used to get 11% of the profits (not sales) which is not very much. To add, Cardiff City fans threatened to stop buying food and drink unless the prices were reduced. I believe they were slightly, but Asda across the road remains popular prior to ko and the garbage sold in the stadium is still overpriced and dare I say, garbage.

Re: 8,000 and rising and OSPREYS news Update
I think there are a lot of misconceptions on this board, one of the worse is being espoused by an Os ST holder, the 5000 DOES NOT include the 4 FREE child tickets. The areas covered under the BOGOF ticket is all of the stand opposite the players entrance and aproximately the 2 end quarters of the players entrance end, none of the ends behind the posts or the majority of the side of the players entrance will come under this scheme. As someone just mentioned the ST covers 11 RD, 3HC, 2LV and 1Friendly.
I was a ST holder at the Liberty from its inception until 2 years ago when I had Heart trouble, I also have Glaucoma and cannot drive the 20 odd miles to Swansea, but I've persuaded 2 Brother in laws and a nephew to join me under the BOGOF scheme, one of them doesn't drink and I anticipate the other 3 spending at least £10 every game on Beer, plus programmes, plus merchandise. Over a season I can see us 4 spending over a £1000 in support of the Ospreys which they would not have recieved without the BOGOF offer. Some clubs might think this short change, but to me it is a significant step forward for the Ospreys

As Wayne says - just because there is a BOGOF offer doesn't mean everyone will take it up, or take it up to the full entitlement. There are also other offers going on such as part season tickets or Exiles ones - so realistically you could sell a season ticket to 1 person but also sell the seat for 4/5 games at the same time for the games that season ticket doesn't entitle them to.

Re: 8,000 and rising and OSPREYS news Update
My comments on the apparently very low return that the Ospreys are going to get from these cut price tickets is based on what the Ospreys fans have said themselves on this site.
Some interesting comments made about money spent on food and drink, at the stadium contributing to the Ospreys coffers. Isn't the stadium owned by Swansea Council? In which case I would expect any profit generated to be split between the vendor and the council.
Wayne suggests that only about 40% of the stadium, 8000 seats are alloacted to this cut price deal. If thats the case, there will be losts of irate season ticket holders, if they and their friends cannot get into the bigger matches.
If there are any Ospreys fans out there who understand in, detail how this will work, please put us out of our misery.

Seagultaf, If you think I was having a go at you, you are mistaken, you only have to go on the Ospreys website to see where the BOGOF offer extends to, the North and South stands are only opened up when the other 2 are full, most of the West stand are used for Premier Box holders, the money in food and drink is taken by Stadco and the profits are split 3 ways (Ospreys, Swans Stadco). I dont know what you are getting at but ST are not available for areas other than I've already mentioned, for any matches outside of the matches already mentioned, they have first refusal and that has always been the case.Seagultaf wrote:My comments on the apparently very low return that the Ospreys are going to get from these cut price tickets is based on what the Ospreys fans have said themselves on this site.

There are 23 pages on this subject on the Ospreys forum. I think the generousity of this offer took many by surprise.

CD I went to 2 matches last season and I sat in the cheaper area and paid £20 a match, I presume the prices will be aprox. the same.Cardiff Dave wrote:wayne wrote:

They would be crazy not to as anybody purchasing a season ticket is entitled to a freebie for a newbie who could realistically be someone who isn't interested in watching rugby. Also, by not taking up the bogof offer they would lose out on either a £50 or £25 voucher.

I didn't realise the vouchers were linked to how many 'free' season tickets you accepted, I thought that you got a £50/£25 voucher if you bought a season ticket, whether you had free extra tickets or not.
I mentioned not everyone would request free season tickets as I know a few people (especially old fans) who go down on their own and quite like sitting in the same place seeing the same fans and wouldn't use a free season ticket. They may also want to sit in the stands where the BOGOF doesn't apply.
I do of course accept that the majority of people will want tickets (though I doubt the ones accepting kids tickets will be in the majority)

Sure they're bound to be doing better than last season, but I very much doubt they are even close to selling 5000 season tickets yet. I'd be surprised if they had managed to shift even half that amount considering there is no early bird offer also. No offers at all actually. Zilch.
Saying that, the final figure will be by the look of it somewhere around 5000 which is near enough a million quid.
Thank you, Cardiff Arms Park.

From the Os forum;
"Had a chat with the guy down there today while I got my Season tix, they've shifted 7000 now which covers much of the East stand- looked at the computer screen and there are hardly any gaps at all, so hopefully if people turn up that side could have a Ravenhill effect  . The corners of the West stand are filling up next, hopefully they'll get good numbers too!
In case it hasn't already been mentioned, the ST will cover the two games at the Brewery Field again."

Sounds good - hopefully the Ospreys can start generating a good atmosphere down the Liberty (and Bridgend) and get people behind them.
Suprised the Blues didn't put out any deals, and you'd imagine it's too late to offer any deals this season as they've already started selling tickets. Still even if they get 4,000 season ticket holders with more casual fans turning up they should be looking at 8k easy I'd reckon for most games. If they sell well then CAP could be packed!

CD, the games at the Brewery Field will have to be moved IMO back to the Liberty as BF cannot cater for that number of spectators.

Blues need the money, so can't really afford to offer deals (especially with a reduction in capacity with the move back to CAP)

Still even if they get 4,000 season ticket holders with more casual fans turning up they should be looking at 8k easy I'd reckon for most games. If they sell well then CAP could be packed!
£180 for a terrace ticket IS a deal.
I'm not surprised there aren't any offers as Richard Holland said after he took over in January this year that he was amazed at how many freebies and bogofs there were, which didn't work may I add.
We're back at CAP anyway. No need for deals or offers.

I said there were no deals from someone on another thread (can't remember which thread or what person) who said the ST prices for next season were the same/similar to the ones offered this season and also from your post on this thread saying there were no offers, zilch.
I did post that some deals - like Early Birds are a good way of increasing ST sales and encouraging fans who aren't quite sure about buying a ST or are putting off buying one. But my post deleted instead of posting again

Re: 8,000 and rising and OSPREYS news Update
We went there a few days ago to renew our season tickets and the only seats left for season ticket holders are the ones on the corners of the upper tiers. there is a queue there all day. not a long one, but neither are the 3 staff in the ticket office doing nothing, they are always working.
The real issue is will all the people with free seats turn up next season? Because if not the region wont be able to sell those seats to fans on the day!
They are through the 6,000 mark now by the way.

I did expect them to at least offer an early bird type deal for the reason you mention. Then again after the last 3 years of various offers/bogof deals and biblical quantities of freebies that didn't work, i'm glad that they haven't offered any kind of discount. Not playing at CCS, back at CAP and not hemorrhaging millions is the best offer I could have wished for.

Are all season tickets, reserved seating or is there an unreserved option?

Using their computer system you can actually pick the seat you want. I think the East stand is full and the West stand is nearly full from whats I've read on the Ospreys forum, they have now opened up the sides of the field for extra space. Traditionally June is our busy time for season ticket sales and we've already broken the season ticket record
As the dust settles on Sunday's thrilling RaboDirect PRO12 Final win over Leinster in Dublin there was another significant boost for the Ospreys with the news that membership figures for next season have smashed through the all-time record figure with more than three months to go until the 2012/13 campaign gets underway.
Ospreys bosses have hailed the 'unbelievable response' to the season membership packages they launched less than six weeks ago, while captain Alun Wyn Jones says that the clear indication of support from the local community would give the whole team a 'huge boost ahead of next season'.
Membership figures have this week edged towards 6,000, leaving behind the previous best figure of 5,493, a figure that dates back to the 2005/06 campaign - the first for the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium - with the current figure almost a third up on the season that ended in such dramatic fashion at the weekend.
With 10 days still to go until the Earlybird Deadline on Monday 11th June, starting prices remain at just £165 for standard seating or £295 a seat in the premium area, and with the Ticket Office confirming that there has been no slowdown in business since day one of sales, the final figure is expected to continue rising over the coming weeks.
Ospreys Chief Operations Officer, Andrew Hore, commented:
"We've been truly blown away by the unbelievable response we've had with 1,000 memberships a week being issued since we launched. We've beaten the all-time highest season-ticket by the final day of May and with more than three months until the first game of our PRO12 defence.
"Traditionally the first weeks of June are our busiest period for season memberships in the lead up to the Earlybird Deadline when prices rise. Given the unprecedented demand for memberships this summer who knows what the final figure is going to be?
"Undoubtedly, the excitement and buzz around the region with our fantastic end of season run and a record fourth league title, combined with our forward thinking and innovative membership deals have created a real feel good factor as we look forward to next season. You get a feeling that the Liberty Stadium is going to be a great place to be on matchday next season."
Skipper Alun Wyn Jones added:
"As a team we've been lifted by the support we've had from the fans during the end of season run-in, with big crowds creating great atmospheres. In Dublin on Sunday it was wonderful to see and hear so many Ospreys fans enjoying themselves. We are proud to represent them and honoured to be able to give them something special to celebrate.
"There's nothing like running out at the Liberty to a big crowd. To hear that we will defend our title backed by record season membership numbers will give everyone at the Ospreys a huge boost ahead of next season."

There has been a distinct lack of ambition shown here by the 'guys in marketing' down at the Liberty. Why stop at including just the BOGOF tickets so that they can claim a new sales record?
If they'd pushed the envelope, and also included the kids seats, they'd now be celebrating a Guinness World Record.
For 'shifting' more seats than there are actual seats in the stadium.

Actually Swansea city Fc have 16,000 season ticket holders so 6,000 is not to good to be honest, we need to be looking for at least another 2,000 to be sold!

3 months to go before the season kicks off, so i'm sure they'll sell many more between now and then. I haven't bought my Cardiff st yet. Will do sometime in August.

Also, compared with Leicester who have SOLD over 10,000 season tickets already at full price, we in Wales have a fair way to go to catch up.
Just read yesterday that Tigers have past the 12,500 mark. Still behind the 14,000 pre Cat Stand figure.

Looking at the Tigers site, LT. Pretty much all the reasonable seats have been sold. The Crumbie main stands with a decent side-view are gone, the Goldstone stand (end-on) has 'good' availability and the Cat pretty much gone outside the corners are gone except in the gods.
The terraces have 'good' availability pretty much.

There will be good seats available on Wednesday when non-returning season ticket holders have their seats unreserved.
Goldsmiths stand for us, behind the kickers right hand post about 10 rows back (and most importantly on the aisle for those with weak bladders)

Well done to the Ospreys management.
Positive marketing decisions are showing dividends much quicker than we presumed they would.
