Will 2012 make up for 2011 - for us Brits! Empty Will 2012 make up for 2011 - for us Brits!

Post by Seanusarrilius Thu 31 May 2012, 1:44 pm

Last year was tough on us Brits when it comes to high end boxing.

John Murray got dismantled by Rios after a brave effort
Barker the same by Martinez
Macklin shoud have become world cham but didn't
Khan was up against Peterson, the judges, the ref, hat man and roids and was beaten...apparently
Haye didn't do the business with Wald...

Tough year

But this year has begun fairly well.

Kell Brook looks like he is going to be the real deal
Froch and his amazing Bute performance
Khan will get his belts back, one way or other and should spank Danny Garcia
Haye & Chisora is going to be a great event
Burns rolls on and improves
Even Frankie Gavin looks at least 60% focussed

Will 2012 make up for last year, for us Brits?

What are you particularly looking forward too?

Haye vs Vitali in December with Haye winning via early KO. Right cross on the point of the chin with Vit falling like an oak tree. Then Haye promptly retiring as he knows the outcome when the younger K2 looks to avenge his brother's brutal demise.

Looking forward to another exciting interview and fight build up delivered by Ricky Burns.

Price is on the up and up

Not sure Fury warrants a mention. For beating up, literally, a Taxi Driver

Fury entertains though, and is undefeated and hasn't just fought mexican cabbies, hags and cans.

If Haye did beat Vitali he would fight Wlad, he wouldn't turn down another big payday!

Irish Cabbie. Yes he is entertaining, but I am talking about it more in the - achieving things in the ring - sense. Not the - doing crappy stand up for sport relief kind. not knocking sport relief

I want to put something out there that I have secretly believed for some time and been too ashamed too admit. But on the back of my (and Union's) superb Froch KO prediction.

I believe David Haye would beat Vitali Klitschko, if they met this year.

I beleive Klit has aged and slowed and even lost power.

I beleive this, and I am now of to B.I.A. (Boxing Idiots Annonymous)

I've thought it and commented on it for a while, David using the right tactics has more than enough in my view.

What tactics would you have him employ Alex ?

Haye will have great difficulty beating anyone with a reach advantage over him that has the use of good/decent jab.

David can't simply slip the jab and put himself in a decent position to let his bombs go. He can't parry it and when he does slip it his feet aren't in a position to plant them to elevate decent power.

Unless The Klitschko's become completely shot to pieces, IMO Haye will never come close to bettering the K Bros

All the best

Haye-Chisora is going to be a great event????

Two losers and both stinkers!!!

Hagler - Hearns watchout!!

You forgot Kevin mitchell!! Think he might come good........

Answer is no... since John L took Boxing into the modern age you'll continue to disappoint as a nation this year as you have done in every yearsince the late 19th century!!!

Poor old Marquis of Queensbury....turning in his grave like a pig on a spit!! Cool

Can I join the BIA? Don't know how, don't know why but I too think Haye would beat Vitali.

Whether or not he'll actually get in the ring with him is an entirely different matter.

Well, Sean. You're out and proud! Congratulations on the Froch prediction, but lightening doesn't strike twice for me. Haye has two hopes against Vitali this year - None and Bob.

Vitali is an extremely over-rated fighter. Slowed down to snails pace and uses his experience (and dodgy games behind the scenes to disrupt the opponent) to win. He moves a tad slower than an oil tanker. A non existant jab and over-rated power. Ripe for the taking and Haye will take him out by late KO. His chin is up there to be smacked and haye will smack it, drop him and KO him.

Boxing will be saved................until he retires promptly.

His record says otherwise, hardly lose's a round. Just fanciful talk saying Haye will explode on him, I really don't know how he will do this unless Vitali is an OAP overnight or he gets extremely lucky, because David doesn't have the skillet to set the traps to create a knockout.

And if he rushes or tries to be hung ho against Vitali he will be marmalised.

BIA, I've always thought Haye would have much more joy with Vitali than Wlad. The best chin is the one that doesn't get hit. Vitali's quite open.

I said before the Chisora fight that Derek would give him serious problems. I was laughed at. OK Vit won more comfortably that I expected. But with more experience, Derek would have made the fight closer and more competitive. I don't expect Haye to fight as he did against Wlad. Vit is not a good a boxer as Wlad and being a fraction slower will leave more openings for Haye to exploit. I expect Haye to land with more regularity that Chisora did and land cleaner punched. Haye is a hurtful and more accurate and precise puncher than given credit for.

People see Vitali and imagine his performance against Lewis. He is 10 years older and miles slower than that version. Haye wouldn;t stand a chance against that version. Now Vit is ready for plucking. Haye would guy him comfortably.
