We now lead by 21.
If we can hold on a bit longer, Sussex might need to get about 30 in 2 or 3 overs ....

Re: surrey vs Sussex match thread
Meaker and Kartik to open would be my call but sadly Sussex have got enough overs not to be too concerned ....

A thoroughly deserved defeat, we competed for about 45 minutes in this game!

Maybe. I certainly think Sussex should give a large crate of something very drinkable to the Horsham groundsman and his team. Incredible that there was a full day's play yesterday. Without their efforts, Sussex would have been denied a deserved victory.

Not convinced by that, JimBob. I think we were already out of winning the game when Anyon / Panesar put on those runs. That just confirmed Sussex's superiority. If we'd got one of them out quickly,Sussex could well have had enough time to take a couple more Surrey wickets last night.
Btw, I don't understand why Meaker didn't bowl at Panesar. One on Monty's toes and then another on the stumps should surely have done it!
Another decent man of the match call would be for Anyon.

Ab. Ject.
What is really galling is that, unlike the last time we were relegated to CC2 because we were poo, this team has the latent ability to be competitive in CC1. Who would have thought that we'd be picking up so few batting points?
