I'm going to be very optimistic (or jinx it again!) and say none.

Ramps possibly playing for his career.

Stumps. 39-1. Roy gets almost all the runs and takes most of the strike but falls to Magoffin with a couple of overs left to complete an extremely poor day for Surrey.

Nightwatchman Meaker saw out the session with Ramps. I'm never keen on nightwatchmen. Even when they survive the evening session, they too often get out early in the morning to give the opposition a quick wicket and morale booster. Anyway, lets hope Meaker can prove the exception.

We're going to have to bat for almost all of tomorrow to scrape a draw. An important day for Ramps. I'm tempted to go along (forecast is meant to be good although I await confirmation from local man Chichester and weather expert Corporal! Wink ). However, I'm not sure I want to see what I fear.

Play up and running - forecast looks mostly dry but with possibility of the odd shower.

Ramps looks as tho he's trying to set himself to dig in for the day. Meaker has shown that he can hang around a fair while.

96-3 Ramps falls for 37 off 101 balls. Considerably better than most of his recent scores but a long way short of what was needed.

Not looking good if we lose any more wickets before lunch.

Ramps goes to Monty, lbw for 37.

96-3. Not looking good.

Meanwhile, rumours fly around on the wallpaper site about why Maynard wasn't well enough to field yesterday. I cannot believe the post that suggests Churchy, the most polite man of all time, was rude to a supporter trying to find out!

Probably just enough for Adams to keep him in the side when the second half of the Championship season resumes. However, insufficient to convince many supporters that their concerns are ill-founded.

Oops - wanting to check the latest score on the BBC Sport website, I accidentally pressed CC Div 2 then wondered why it wasn't there. My sincere apologies to all Sussex fans for such defamation. I trust no-one else feels slighted or aggrieved... Crying or Very sad

In another example of his irritating management speak, Adams has referred to Sussex as a ''benchmark side''. We certainly haven't measured up in this match.

Scrape through to tea at 183 - 7. Very poor - no batsman so far got past 37 on a pitch when the Sussex tail scored heavily. Only two wickets left to fall (+ Dernbach, who is unlikely to last beyond about 10 balls).

Hyphen so far blocked 94 balls for his 21.

227-8, meaning Sussex will need to bat again if they are to win.

16 overs in the last hour from 5 o'clock BUT 2 overs (and the remaining part of the over in which the Surrey innings ended) get taken off the overs Sussex will be allowed to bat. Thus, we need to hold out for 13 overs and one ball from 5 o'clock to prevent Sussex batting.

Clear as mud? Tense stuff anyway.
