JWC - As it stands Pt II
First topic message reminder :

So far today Ireland have done what they had to, secured the TBP and move to 10pts. They need SA to beat England by >7 with no TBP.
Argentina beat Scotland to win their pool.
Massive win for Wales. they will be top seeds for semis unless England win by 37 points against SA.
the impressive second half by BabyBoks and the dismal showing by England (a complete indictment of the state of the game in England where we develop lumps rather than rugby players) menas the semis are sorted.
Wales v NZ
Argentina v SA
Having struggled in the 6Ns, Wales strengthened their lineup and have done well. Tom Prydie who was introduced to the full international setup far too early seems to be getting his career back on track. Good luck to the Taffs in their rematch with NZ.

Re: JWC - As it stands Pt II
Theory says Wales v Argentina Final the two unbeaten sides but i`ll lay odds it won`t happen. The Boks will this year at home it is in the stars.Wales may find the Baby Blacks more of a handful if its not a quagmire. They played a sensible game in the conditions kick for territory and defend.Nz tried to play all the Rugby
18 phases in one play before turning the ball over.To close to call Wales may find they can scrummage too in decent conditions.

Times have moved on since the good old days, small players are now defensive liabilities.

It will be an interesting game. This welsh team have played very well but there are some fantastically physical and talented teams in the competition from top to bottom.
Hopefully comfodence will see them through another tough game against the junior ABs

You've got to love a tournament with an 11th place play-off!

Well the team that finishes 12th doesn't qualify for the next Junior WC...so its pretty important really.

Ireland set up a fifth-sixth place play-off against France on Friday after beating England at the Junior World Championship in Cape Town.
Tries from Barry Daly and Iain Henderson helped the Irish into a 17-0 lead at the break.
Chris Walker's try gave England hope but Jordan Coghlan added a third Irish touchdown for Ireland.
Henry Slade scored a late English try as Ireland ensured their best ever finish at a Junior World Championship.
It was revenge for the Irish after losing 20-15 to England in the group stage.
England will take on Australia in the seventh-eighth place play-off at Cape Town on Friday while Ireland will play France at Newlands.

Re: JWC - As it stands Pt II
New Zealand will get the chance to defend their Junior World Championship title when they take on hosts South Africa in the final.
The Baby Boks eased past Argentina 35-3 in their semi-final at Newlands on Sunday, while the Baby Blacks beat Wales 30-6 in the other semi.
The young Dragons became the first team to beat New Zealand in the five years of this tournament, winning 9-6 in the Pool stages, but the reigning champions were too strong on this occasion - scoring four tries to nil.
Meanwhile, England U20 will play Australia for seventh place after losing 27-12 to Six Nations rivals Ireland.
Tries from Chris Walker and Henry Slade were not enough for England, with Ireland now going on to face France at Newlands for a tilt at fifth place.

Two very one-sided semis.
Hope it's a good final
Both the Bok and AB babies look good.

Ive really enjoyed this tournament, some really good young players on display. Boks vs baby blacks I will be supporting the boks for the first time against my second team. Sour grapes? possibly but I really dont see this Blacks side as in the same class as previous years.
Honourable mention for Samson Lee. Wales have a nutjob kid who is going to tear up some reputations over then next few years. How the hell did the scarlets get him he is a swansea boy?

Your right Tycroes. There has been some great players on display so far. We still have a few more games and I am sure we will see more youthful skills on display.

I think you are right this Baby Blacks side isn`t as strong as the usual crop, from reports i`ve read.No player has ITM or Super15 Rugby, two players who have Paranara[just broke his leg]and Sam Cane. Were refused release by there S15 franchises.Cane at least won`t mind he was capped by the Senior AllBlack side on Saturday. What has been un usual has been the rise of Argentina, and Ireland/Wales.Plus the demise of the supposedly best NH side England not only losing to the Boks but also Ireland.

I think one of the issues for the BB's is teamwork. I think I'm right in saying that this is our only national age group side. They don't have the benefit of team building that results from regular age group competition. I expect them to improve as the tournament progresses. They'll have to because South Africa is playing at home and look like they've stepped up a level.

Some slick tries this morning bc- did you watch it?
That last one down the right side the ball moved across to the right so quickly with the last two passes.
This team is more than ready for the final now.
Wales had some unlucky calls (or non calls) but the BB's still outran them.

Big shout to the baby paddies for beating their English counterparts.
Huge amount of talent there, clearly.

South Africa might lose Paul Jordaan and their captain William Small Smith, that is two of their top players out possibly to injury, not good if they have to face the Baby Blacks.

I haven't yet. I am completely one eyed on this and admit that I am not open to reason, or well structured arguments. I'm picking they'll get better again this week. I just wonder how good they'd be if they had more opportunities.

That would be a shame. Both SA and NZ are excellent teams, let's hope they can both put out their best sides.
