Euro 2012: Day 6 Thread
Denmark v Portugal (17:00, ITV 1)
Netherlands v Germany (19:45, BBC 1)
Current Group Standings:
Denmark - 3
Germany - 3
Portugal - 0
Netherlands - 0
Back to the Group of Death we go for Day 6 and what a day in prospect. Firstly, the Danes take on the Portugese. The Danes shock win over Holland gives them a real chance of doing what no thought they could do - make the knock-out stage. In the other corner, Portugal will want to bounce back from the stinging defeat against the Germans whilst fully aware a loss here could end their torunament.
The second game is even better. Netherlands v Germany, a massive rivalry and probably (for the neutral anyway) the highlight of the group phase. A German victory will put them on the brink of qualifying for the knock-out stages and, in the process, potentially dump their rivals out. The Dutch will be looking to turn their country's mood upside down - just like England did at Chaleroi in 2000 - and secure a victory over the enemy. It should be a cracking day, enjoy!

Indeed, or we could have a glorious scenario where both Holland and Portugal win leaving all three teams on 3 points going into the final games on Sunday.

Re: Euro 2012: Day 6 Thread
Denmark were the better team against Portugal in the qualifers so i think a draw or a win for the Danes is more than concievable. I'm afraid that much like the Czechs the Portugese team is not what it was 4 or so years ago, they're strikers are hopeless and don't score much.
Gonna go for 2-1 Germany and 2-0 Denmark

I'm going for:
Germany 1 Holland 1
Denmark 1 Portugal 2
That should put the cat amongst the pigeons.

I can see Holland being eliminated at the group stage, there's always a big shock at these tournaments. It's about time Van Marwijk was sacked and someone with fresh ideas was bought in along with giving the younger generation the chance to shine. The fact he still plays Van Bommel because he's married to his daughter is ridiculous.
Germany 3-1 Holland - prediction
I'm expecting Ronaldo to shine today, it's now or never for Portugal to finally show something with the talent they have on offer.
Denmark 1-2 Portugal

Portugal: Rui Patricio, Joao Pereira, Bruno Alves, Pepe, Fabio Coentrao, Meireles, Veloso, Joao Moutinho, Nani, Postiga, Ronaldo. Subs: Eduardo, Custodio, Almeida, Quaresma, Nelson Oliveira, Ricardo Costa, Rolando, Ruben Micael, Varela, Miguel Lopes, Hugo Viana, Beto.
Both teams unchanged. Hope the Danes win, don't like Portugal much.

1-0 Portugal, Pepe with the goal. Can't see the Danes scoring two, they've offered very little offensively so far.

2-1 HT, the Danes hanging in by a thread. And BT Vision have the rights to 38 live Premier League Games in the Premiership next season, the World's gone mad!

Want Portugal to win this. Not because I like em, just to even out the group.
Nederland will then need a draw or a win (preferably) tonight. In fact we need a win to be sure.
My bet is that all 4 teams will be on 3 pts after this session.
Then, all to play for at the weekend.
Ronaldo, you stick! Never performs at the highest level.

This next match has tasty written all over it. I can see a few cards being bandished, especially if the Germans score first. Germany 2-0 for me.

Re: Euro 2012: Day 6 Thread
Holland are being slaughtered. Their defence is all over the place - particularly that poor 18 year old left back who's up against Muller -, the midfield is slow and ponderous and RVP has lost all confidence and ability. 2-0 HT, could be 4+ unless Holland sort it out. While a defeat wouldn't put the Dutch out, we all know they'd be on the verge and 95% sure of being eliminated and it's the same for Germany but in reverse.

I can't believe that Holland have thrown it away so far, it's almost as if Germany are the ones who need the win.
