VDV on his own is worth more than Cisse. Cisse has always looked like a hit it and get lucky sort of striker to me.

He might have scored goals during half a season, but then so did:

Roque Santa Cruz
Stephen Ireland
Andy Johnson
James Beattie
Michael Ricketts
Grant Holt
Yakubu
Amr Zaki
Marcus Stewart
Francis Jeffers

I think you have let your desperation to get a striker undo all the gains you made from getting Hamsik

Where is Jelavic in that list then?

Yes your right, Jelavic too.

Jelavic cannot be classed as a top striker as he has only done it for half a season too. Both him and Cisse need to carry it on for next season too.

And I think both Jelavic and Cisse will carry it on next season tbh.

Personally I do think Cisse will maintain it Olly, he showed in Germany he was a top striker as well prior to his move.

VDV is incredibly highly rated.

Was rated the best AM in the old FL by pretty much the same core of managers as on here

Well I wasn't in the old Furious League so I don't know what happened there. All I know is that nobody picked him in there original teams (I don't think), so obviously that high rating wasn't translated into this league. He is a very good player, probably the best Dutch one on the pitch v Portugal (although it didn't take a lot Laugh )

--------------Huth-------------Cahill----------Shawcross--------------
-------------------------------M'Vila------------------------------------
-------------Marchisio---------Song-------------Vidal-------------------
------Reus---------------------------------------------Schurrle---------
-------------------------------Giroud-----------------------------------

You will probably both be right, but they have to prove it IMO. That list includes many names that showed the same promise as Jelavic and Cisse, but then in the second season, they flopped.

Look at Ba, last December on here, he was one of the most sought after and had done similar to Cisse (he had also done it in Germany too incidentally). Now noone wants to know him as he stopped scoring and is off to Turkey.

The problem I had with VDV is that it is very difficult to be flexible with him in these leagues. He has never been rated out wide. He is only ever rated when playing off of a striker, with two CMs behind him. Anything different is always marked down

Where's this love for Giroud come from? He's another one season wonder at the moment, with a lot to prove. Arsenal really need to sign Belhanda as he was the reason Giroud got so many goals.

No mate, because that would leave me with no recognised CF

Now that I have Marchisio and Vidal, I suppose I could have played:

-----------------Marchisio-------------Vidal-------------------
------Reus------------------VDV------------------Schurrle-----
----------------------------Giroud-----------------------------

So M'Vila for VDV would have been on

They need a sitting CDM, which allows them to go forward. On the flip side, using my team as an example, a midfield 3 of M'Vila, Marchisio and Vidal lacks creativity BUT does have brute strength and stamina.

Swings and roundabouts mate OK

I prefer the ITV coverage to the BBC one actually, at least they have proper commentators and not the likes of Mark Bright and Mick McCarthy, who may know about the game but aren't commentators. Give me Tyldesley, Beglin, Townsend etc. anyday.

On his day he can be good. But he is the wrong side on 30, extremely slow (as shown against Sweden) and I think £21 million is a heck of a lot for him

I rate John Terry as a CB and as a captain, which should be all that matters.

I'd have signed him earlier, but I feel £21M is very steep, for reasons Olly stated.

Doesn't work. I tried that against Soldado when I played Marky and still lost.

I'd have signed him earlier, but I feel £21M is very steep, for reasons Olly stated.

Wow I wouldn't even take any of my transfer advice seriously after today Laugh

Probably due to Soldado staying away from the defenders and you telling them to drop deep Whistle

Today after all my dealings, I have realised I have a big match against Nando this week. Major 6 pointer in terms of the relegation battle in The Prem

Van Der Vaart is ideal in a 4-2-3-1, but if you want to play a different system he doesn't fit. Same with Gotze (hence I didn't snap Hero's hand off earlier). Got to have some backup plans and versatile players. Which doesn't explain why I signed Ganso Laugh

To be fair I don't play 4-2-3-1, so I don't know why I signed him Laugh

In fact he couldn't be further from what I need, I am full of CM's. Marky why did you have to send me that PM suggesting I should sign him. Damn you.

Made you two offers in regard to VDV Hero.

Just realised I have Fan's old CDM partnership..Vidal and M'Vila. He used to drool over those two
