- Spoiler:
Would anybody be up for a realistic league using the premier league? Have 16 teams, cut the three promoted sides and one other team out as it makes cup running easier and easier to get all the managers in. Different teams would have different targets for the managers. Some of the teams like Man United and Man City would want a title win, whilst some of the lower teams like Norwich would see it as an achievement to avoid relegation. Each season would last fifteen weeks, with tactics due by Friday night and match results announced on a Monday morning, so we have a Premier League weekend.
Tactics and the team played would both be taken into account when deciding on a result, so shocks can happen, if a small side is set up much better than they can draw or even win games despite playing a better side on paper, just like what would happen in real life. At the end of each season the bottom three are relegated, top four get into a Champions League with four foreign teams, the next four into the Europa League and the bottom eight into FA Cup. But for the first season everyone takes part in an FA Cup, which would be easy to run with 16 teams.
The teams would be done via a random draw, but if managers both agree then swaps are allowed, and also any manager can swap their side for one of the promoted sides if they would prefer a challenge with a lower team.

Cheers guys.
What do you all think about budgets?
Can do it so the very top teams start with £0m, and it increases to say, £30m for the smallest teams?

Re: Realistic Premier League
Well, I don't want all the top players rushing into the league, it needs to be a slow process to ensure the league runs for a long time, and giving the big teams no money to spend means that the have to sell players to the smaller teams in order to build up a transfer budget and sign foreigns.
Or, we could do the flip side, and be realistic, give the big teams more money, and have the lower teams buying on a budget and making it a real challenge. Either way, I don't mind.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Gain the consensus on it. I don't mind. I can see the challenge of being a small team on a big budget, but that does mean when they play a big team they aren't going to have a chance really. And that might turn people off after a little while.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Give the big sides a negative budget so they have to sell their fringe players. I think that the transfers need to be a bit more realistic though, maybe reasons why a player would join a side. If the reasons given aren't then provided to the player he gets unhappy and wants to leave
Re: Realistic Premier League
Yeah, reasons I think would be good. Thing is that it's subjective. I'd fancy doing the results side, so if someone wants the task of foreigns then
I don't think it should be a negative budget, I think 0 is enough though.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Maybe if foreigns were run by a team? Therefore each would need a 2 out of 3 votes majority to be accepted
Re: Realistic Premier League
Seeing as TSC has dropped out, is there anybody who's wanting to run a team as a Co-Owner with me? Would suit somebody who hasn't really got the time but would like to be involved where we can share the work-load
If we're picking teams, I'd want a challenge and start at the team around the lower end of the league, if not a promoted side. Ideally I'd like to have Reading or Southampton. But wouldn't mind Aston Villa or West Brom.
If your going to chuck a team, please let it be QPR!

Alright that's fine Jay, Enigma, James.
And Enigma, it'll come down to which teams are unwanted, for example I won't chuck QPR if there's a manager that wants them.
If you could all go and try to recruit managers that'd be great

Re: Realistic Premier League
Will the budgets for each team be based off what and where teams finished last season..?
I'd quite like to manage Aston Villa as my first choice, but if anybody picks them, I'll have Reading as my second choice. Now I'll have to see if anybody wants to Co-Run a team with me.

If you want someone neutral to help you with Foreigns then I can do that. Just in too many leagues at the moment to take a team.

I'd like to manage Villa then. If somebody else comes along and also wants Villa, I might change to Reading then. Not 100% decided.

Re: Realistic Premier League
TSC, that'd be great
Was thinking of doing a system where people submit one bid per day, then at the end of each day all bids get answered? How would that sound, then it's easy and just have to do 10-15 minutes work each evening?
Also could do an advisory role for Enigma maybe? Then there's no responsibilties, just somewhere to turn for help?

Alright then.
Just thinking should I say nobody can have Man City, because on paper their squad is ridiculously strong compared to anyone else.

Re: Realistic Premier League
They look good, perhaps Stoke/West Brom
On same as Villa considering relative performance of each team last season
Also, a note on Foreigns - I know if a player has signed for a club in the summer he's not yours but say they've signed for a foreign club (I.e Drogba to Shenua) are they still available despite them having recently signed?

Re: Realistic Premier League
What's the ruling on who is and isn't part of the team at the present moment in time?
IE Kagawa, Hazard, Podolski I presume are in, but are the likes of Hulk going to be added to the Chelsea team if they get added over the coming days (or for me more worryingly if Modric goes).

do the signing from TPs have to be realistic?
so a small team cant sign a player like Kaka for example??

Re: Realistic Premier League
To make life easier, summer transfers do not count, at all. So Kagawa, Hazard, Marin are not in the league. The squads are whstever they were on the last day of the season.
The only exception to this is the players which have been released, who are no longer part of the squad
