Jesus, that's low. Would take me a hell of a lot more than that to move from Auckland / Wellington to Newcastle!

I'd be very surprised. Would imagine he would have been on more than that in NZ? 50k is about what the youngsters get, someone like Nathan Catt would be on that at Bath

I think Gopperth is on around £200k at least. bearing in mind Irish offered him around £200k and he turned it down, Falcons must have offered more.
Carl Hayman was on £350k which I think is still the most a AP player has been paid.

Butch was on £250k when he joined
Moody on ~£200k
Attwood ~ £160k
I'd imagine Louw and Watson around £150k
I love that THs are the best paid, think it is brilliant and very fair

ps. Struggling so much thinking about the real Aviva season next year without thinking about this league! Keep getting excited about Franks and Steyn at Bath, then come crashing down. Can't picture Tigers without JOC, Saints without Read

Man alive, had speculated that this would have been the perfect signing for Bath! Always really liked watching him, would have been a good option at 12,13 and 15 and probably not silly money

Is anybody here interested in entering a beach 7s tournament?
The RFU are hosting the Seaton beach 7s on the August bank holiday sunday and there is a £1000 prize on offer for the overall winner and £500 for the shield.
Squads are £10 entry fee and you get 10 free pints with that.
E-mail JonathanBenson@RFU.com to enter a team of 10.
I'll probably be able to find a cheap hotel nearby for you guys to stay in if you plan to stick around over night.

There's one on the island as well this weekend. Although I don't think the winner progresses further on. We've dominated it for the last five years lol

Sounds bang tidy Pull , love 7s tournaments. Too fat and crippled to play so i just spend all day being the mascot and drinking port and eating BBQ food.
Flux ,
Is rugby big on Isle of Wight? I know there's only Jersey on Jersey which is a bit odd as who are there juniors meant to play?

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Aha I'm too unfit atm to play, although in my more bulky frame I could anchor down a three man scrum and pretend to be a prop.
It's relatively big, easily the second biggest sport during the season I'd say. Football is miles ahead though, we have like fives leagues on the island off the top of my head for Football. You've got my club Sandown and Shanklin Hurricanes at the top, then the Isle of Wight team Ventnor around at the same level, then Ryde. I haven't played for Hurries for almost two years other than friendlies or maybe the odd two's game because of uni.
But there are four Rugby teams on the island, and more often than not three can put two teams out on a saturday. We've also put three teams out and head a triple header down the club.
When I played age groups from U16 Jersey played us because Hampshire was the closest county to them. They made a trip out seeing each youth team because the'y usually fly over Saturday and stay the night ,and then play sunday and leave sunday evening. It was awkward for them to get to us because they'd have to fly over to Southampton and then get a train to the ferry over and then meet a coach. Or meet a coach and ferry across.
Alternative years teams would go over there and play them.

If anybody fancies a friendly against someone else against someone else in the league or a team outside it, add it to the thread and I will stick a game on there. Otherwise feel free to predict and comment on the game between Driver and I

It sounds like it's got a pretty decent rugby base to work from and if all the clubs junior systems click you'll be laughing.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
That would be where the system faulters a bit. Each club doesn't have its own youth system. Through the age groups up to colts there is one side called Vectis (Roman name for the IoW) and it runs "seperate" from the clubs. I say it should run seperate, but coaches are usually members of one of the top three clubs. Therefore each year group usually a bulk of those players end up at the club their coach was from. It's a bit of a mess from the bottom up.
It'd be brilliant for each club to develop their own youth system, but there wouldn't be quite enough players. There was once talk of all the teams putting players into an Island Baa-baas style team to compete higher up the leagues.

Not going to be on here a lot for the next couple of weeks. Will try and get on but can't be certain.
If its looks like i'm going to miss a fixture if someone could just copy and paste my 7's or XVs from the previous round of fixtures it would be appreciated.

Hooker is the obvious one I'd say. Not many line out options there though, a great thrower like best?

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
I'd say Alberts , Hargreaves and Robson are pretty capable of delivering quality lineout ball.
Hooker is the obvious one along with 7 and 10. Big advantage of being Quins is they churn out wizz kids for fun.
Six nations back line of
Burguss , Heathcote , Hamilton , AAC , Payne , Short , Lindsey Hague has some real weels about them.

Loads of lineout options. Hargreaves is great in lineout, as is Etzebth, Robshaw & Alberts.
Gray is ok for me, solid option.
Wing or 7 are standouts but a v good side

I hope Kvesic kicks on big style , think he could be a superstar hence why i paid big to get him off ITFL.

Feel like a bruised peach after beach rugby yesterday.
Drive I fancy Kvesic to be in the England team as our long term 7. I saw him in some games for Woss and when he focussed on getting over the ball at the breakdown, it was Pocock/Brussow-esque. Just see the fact that he won't play there and more 8 will however kill any aspirations
