At Last Some Happiness For Rafa

Poor Rafa must have been feeling really sad after his early exit at Wimbledon. But he has just had some good news. One of his best buddies Andy has made it to the Wimbledon final. He didn't watch the match but was contacted soon after by The Times to get his reaction. (The Times is PPV so sorry no link)

For Andy this is an amazing achievement. It is the home tournament. To be in the final, to be playing against the best in history in Roger Federer, he has been fighting for this for a long time and now it has happened. I am very happy for him.

To be in so many Wimbledon semi-finals and not be in the final — I am sorry that it was me who beat him on the last couple of occasions — is disappointing for him, but I knew the chance would come again and that if it did come, he would take it.

For me, he has had a great career already, even without winning a final of a grand-slam, but this means so much more. This is the special one of the four major tournaments we have in our sport, especially for a player from Britain.

This is the best possible final for Wimbledon. They deserve it. I wish all the people there that it is a great occasion. I know what it is like to play Roger on the last day of a major championship. He is still here after years and years of competing and if he wins the tournament he will become the No 1 player in the world again. He deserves that, Andy deserves to win a grand-slam. It is going to be a special afternoon.

Rafa does go on to say he is not sure if he will watch the final. But I have a sneaky suspicion he may not be able to resist. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if all Andy's pals from the locker room including his other best buddie Novak are there on centre court on Sunday to cheer him on. It is after all something that all the players in the locker room have wanted for so long...

The questiom is: If Murray wins Wimbledon, who had the most impact? Lendl or Rafael Nadal?

Andy seems to be good buddies with Rafa i see. I read his BBC column last week where he was asked about tennis players he would like to be stuck on an island with and he said the British players and Nadal.

Yeah, rafa's such good buddy with Murray that he didn't even bother watching Murray's semi. More like phoney buddy.

Andy is weird. Buddying up with a guy who kept ending his dreams in Wimbledon 3 times, USO last year.
