Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 6
Barcelona 3 - 1 Tottenham
Ronaldo -------- Rooney
RvP x 2
Spurs have a top side, very strong in midfield and attack. The defence is where they need to strengthen since they rely heavily on aging legs in the centre and inconsistent fullbacks. Barcelona are stronger overall and have the stronger looking defence. This is the fundamental difference between the sides for me and it resulted in a solid home win.
Inter Milan 1 - 0 Manchester United
Drogba
Not too much between these sides. Defences are very even, Inter have the more creative midfield for me and although Utd have two good strikers, neither are prolific with Benzema in particular often drifting out of the centre. It was therefore a match where clear cut chances were not too common and one quality strike from Drogba won the day for the home side.
Chelsea 1 - 1 Arsenal
Ozil ----------- Pedro
This is an interesting match up. Chelsea have the younger side who kept going better as the match wore on with a late strike from Ozil taking the points. Chelsea have a nice shape with a good central midfield full of quality. Their wide men don't catch the eye as much but Gomez up front will get his goals. Arsenal are very similar although their wide men offer more of a threat for me. In a tight affair, a draw was a fair result.
Borussia Dortmund 0 - 2 Real Madrid
------------------------------ Bale
------------------------------ Aguero
The Dortmund side remain a decent side and they have a top class central defensive partnership. What they lack is the ability to really hurt a top side like Madrid and eventually Madrid's superior quality across the park told as second half goals won the points.

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 6
barca 2-1 spurs
rvp, ronaldo
modric
barca at home pegged spurs back from the start and got two early goals through van persie and ronaldo. spurs tried hard to get the ball off barca but to no avail. lennon's introduction in the 2nd half gave spurs some hope as it was his cross from which modric scored for spurs. spurs tried hard after their goal but barca just kept the ball and killed the game.
mancity 1-1 bayern
kolarov
robben
mancity held bayern to a draw at the Etihad. city got the first goal of the game after kolarov beat maicon for pace and smashed home from the edge of the box. after going behind, bayern started to see more of the ball and robben brought them level after he curled the ball delightfully into the top corner of the net. both teams tried hard to get the winner but the defences held on.
chelsea 1-1 arsenal
ozil
valencia
a draw was a fair result in the london derby. both are evenly matched teams with strong attacks and it was the home side which got the early lead through the genius of ozil. arsenal hit back after the break as valencia's shot was deflected and beat the efforts of the chelsea GK. both teams pushed hard for a winner but it was not to be in a fairly drab derby.
dortmund 0-2 real
pirlo, neymar
real outclassed dortmund from start to finish in this match. pirlo got the first goal from an exquisite free-kick and in the second half it was the Brazilian neymar who beat his man to score the killer goal for the spanish side. dortmund's attack created a few chances but the real defence held their own and their experienced midfielders dictated the tempo.

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 6
Inter Milan 2 - 2 Manchester United
Vermaelen, Drogba : Benzema, Walcott
Both sides have good attacks but the defence are a bit suspect, so I can see lots of goals here. United's defence are great individually, but Srna, Jones and Coentrao will be keen to get forward and may leave Vidic exposed at the back, with Drogba causing big problems. At the other end, Benzema and Welbeck run their socks off all day and make it difficult for Inter. In the later stages Walcott, Sturridge and Hernandez would run riot against tired legs. Both have robust midfields and it would be a real battle there. A draw is a fair result.
Manchester City 0 - 0 Bayern Munich
Can't see much between the sides here. Strong, hard working midfields on both sides so, again, it would be a real battle here. Probably prefer Bayern's attack as City have been hit by injuries. Bayern so close to getting a surprise victory but Hart was having a worldy today, keeping out efforts from Sanchez, Higuain and Silva. Both defences very strong and deal with the opposition attacks well, leading to a goalless draw.
Chelsea 2 - 1 Arsenal
Gomez, Cahill : Mata
Chelsea have done well of late and I think at home they'd have just enough to see past their London rivals. Chelsea have very attacking full backs and they'd get to Arsenal's defence. The Ozil/Gomez partnership worked well and you could see they were trying to create lots of chances. Parker/Mascherano break the duo up though and limit goalscoring opportunities. Chelsea's bench is strong and has enough to grab the victory. Great performance from Neuer.
Borussia Dortmund 1 - 4 Real Madrid
Gotze : Fabregas [2], Silva, Pirlo (pen)
Brahma Bull keeps going bless him and he has built a resilient side if not a winning one! Today they had the league leaders coming to town and they showed their class today. The front 4 for Dortmund did threaten and Marcelo and Alves were caught out a few times. Dortmund struggled at the set piece though, when Real piled numbers forward and searched for goals. Some positives for Dortmund but overall a mis match in class today.

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 6
Barce 1 - Spurs 2
Ronaldo - Rooney, Modric
A great match between two similar sides, Rooney opened the scoring for Spurs which caused Barce to panic a little allowing Modric to add a second before they threw the kitchen sink at Spurs. A great day for Lloris kept Barce at bay until a late freekick from Ronaldo bought one back but it was in vein.
Inter 2 - United 2
Young, Baines - Benzema x2
A free flowing game with 4 goals in total. Young opened the scoring with a close finish before two goals from Benzema put United on for the victory. Late on Baines scored a cracking freekick to level it up.
City 1 - Bayern 3
Balotelli - Ramires, Higs, Sanchez
The Bayern midfield bossed the game especially as Maicon/Evra could get forward seemingly at will. Whilst the City defense did a great job throughout the lack of better wingers hurt them. A great goal from Ramires set Bayern on their way before Higs added a second. A stunner from Balotelli put Bayern's position in doubt before Sanchez latched onto a cracking ball from Ramires to score Bayern's third.
Dortmund 1 - Madrid 4
Hazard - Aguero x3, Ivanovic
I feel sorry for Dortmund but the juganought that is Madrid was just too much for them today. With Yaya pulling the strings Aguero was able to score a fantastic hattrick. Dortmund actually opened the scoring through Hazard but the full backs of Dortmund were powerless to resist. Ivanovic added a fourth late on with a free header from a corner.
