Re: Boxnation
You can buy one month's subscription for £10 + a £10 registration fee, then cancel at the end of the month.

I'm at a wedding too but if you could subsribe as a one off (minus reg fee) I'd record it at least. Even if the reg fee was only a fiver I'd probably pay it as, as a PPV, it's about standard in terms of the card but I'm not spanking £20 on it - even if I could watch it live.

The pub where I used to live are showing it, so if anyone is in the outskirts of Rotherham this weekend if they want to PM me I will send them the name and address.

Re: Boxnation
As c&r mentioned, they have only just introduced the registration fee to catch out all you last-minute-Larrys, if you'd have thought about it a week ago you could have had it for a tenner.

Robbing filth, aren't they.
I haven't paid, and don't intend to, though admittedly I do want to watch it.

At least there are alternative methods of watching it, though I'm not sure how if I'm not watching it live....

I'll be watching by other means like Top Hat.
I booked Boxnation for the Mayweather/Cotto fight and the commentary was by far the worst i've ever heard so not paying to have the same twerp spouting rubbish.

Really hope the channel goes under, if Warren could stick at least 1 decent card on a month it might actually be worth it but as it is, even without the reg fee, it's not worth paying for as you only get a good card every 2-3 months therefore you're arguably paying £20-30 not £10.

LOL do you know if there's a way to watch by 'other means' but not live? I.e. record or delayed transmission?

Unfortunately, boxing is too volatile a sport to make £20-30 worthwhile. One head clash early doors and your value for money becomes greatly lessened.

There is a new site where people from around the world post videos, you can pretty much find anything on it, it's great.
Can't remember the name thought, Tubetube or something.

Tell me about it! My recent PPV purchases include Khan v Prescott and Hatton v Pacquaio. £30 and I got less than 3 rounds of boxing!! (excluding undercard)

At the risk of stating the obvious can we ensure any talk of "other means" is done by PM because you know we have no choice but to delete them and it is not the most fun way to spend our morning.

haha alright smartarse, fights only ever go on there ages after the bout (when TV companies aren't aggressively getting them deleted for copyright [of which Frank Warren is one of the worst]) or immediately after in such poor quality (even worse than Primetime) it's like someone recorded it off their tele on their iPhone, rendering it unwatchable.

But they still don't own the rights...so it's illegal....
Don't advocate illegality or else 606 could get in trouble....
I imagine the more financially strapped boxnation get the bigger the clamp down..

Yes it is mate, but preemptive strike because it tends to be a matter of time before people start posting links up and the like, most are bright enough not to but plenty are not unfortunately.

Cancelled BoxNation a little while ago as the quality fights seriously dropped, I don't even think they picked up the Donaire fight last Saturday.

Re: Boxnation
boxnation has never had the potenial to work imo, it basically asking in this current climate to pay the same as sentanta which had simar standard of boxing shows on (jmm v pacman, marg v cotto 1) and that was without the football, ufc rugby and they went bust.
with the internet as well as a illegal rival, cant imagine many are buying it.

yeah they paid too much for the football rights, but times are tougher than even then and they didnt make the estimated figures with a great line up, doubt boxnation can make money with their pretty rubbish line up. from what you gather from primetime and sky you would think boxing isnt that cheap to purchase. which just leaves his stable

Re: Boxnation
I was gonna pay a tenner to BoxNation to get this fight, until I saw the extra ten quid registration fee they've bumped on in anticipation of the demand. Pure unadulterated greed from Warren, which has forced me to say f*** it, I'll stream the fight and fish face loses a score instead of gaining a tenner and a possible longer term subscription. Frank is a mug - he should be selling this fight at a bargain price, say £7.50, which would guarantee lots of buyers, which pushes up the value of his advertising space (which is where the real money is) and gives him the opportunity to showcase BoxNation to a big audience increasing the possibility of attracting people to a longer term subscription and snaring an undoubted number of lazy feckers that won't be bothered to cancel. Instead he's trying to fleece people at the front end which has the effect of putting off people like me who can afford it but refuse to pay it on principle, and others who can't justify such an outlay on one fight at the moment. He is a poor and greedy businessman who doesnt understand the big picture, which is why BoxNation will ultimately fail.

Re: Boxnation
If BoxNation was a fiver and no admin fees then it's low enough to get new subscribers and casuals and low enough for people to not notice going out as a DD every month.
Marketing people that work for Warren are fools.

With any luck Randy, ticket sales may be so pi55 poor, Warren actually gives you a ringside seat AND a lift down to the stadium.

To be fair if Boxnation went bust, what boxing would be on tv ?
Sky have threw the towel in, I couldn't give a toss about Warrens bills, it's the overseas shows that I subscribe for. I'd be gutted if Boxnation nosedived like Setanta, I know this might upset a lot of folk as many would like to see the demise of Warren, and I'm no fan. But what would we be watching bar Prizefighter and KOTV at 4am on a weds morning ?
Terrible sport to be a fan of, makes me wish I was interested in a car driving round a track instead.
Cheers

I don't understand the hate boxnation gets. Without them you've got KOTV. You've got Brook, Froch and Price on sky along with prizefighter. You've got Tyson Fury. You've got 15 quid for one big card instead 10 quid for the big cards plus anything else that's on that month.

IMo its been the rivaly that has scared sky off, there not willing to pay big money for shows. Something which they didn't have to do when they had no rivals. I dont see it as a coincedence that sky have pulled the plug on boxing after being out bid by primetime and boxnation for alot of shows

I'm with Virgin Media and I signed up to Boxnation on Monday. They've given me the first month for a fiver. So if any of you chaps out there are with Virgin, it might be worth a call.
If I don't like the channel, I'll cancel it and I get to see Haye Chisora for a fiver and owt else they have on over the next month.
