Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Can you really see Bowers going as high as 6 to the Browns? His stock has been falling dramatically after a bad pro-day and it's clear that his knee injury is worse than previously thought. Some pundits have him out of the first round altogether!

Also Houston to TB? You thinking him as DE rather than 3-4 OLB?

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Tampa are very interested in Justin Houston. Word is that both ark Dominik and Raheem Morris love him and are keen to take him at 20.
Also, Morris primarily runs a 4-3 Tampa 2 defense but he switches to 3-4 very often. His defense is becoming more of a hybrid unit as they gain experience so Houston would fit just fine.

Browns pick is strange I see them taking a WR unless both Green and Jones are gone.

Prawn he's too good to drop, I think his talent will keep him in the top ten. No way he makes it outside the first round.
AdZacO yeah a 4-3 end, Tampa has a major need for a pass rush.

Cleveland are switching to a 4-3 and have nothing at DE, Bowers comes with risk but would be great value.Derbyblue wrote:Browns pick is strange I see them taking a WR unless both Green and Jones are gone.
I think that could get a WR in the 2nd round, maybe Torrey Smith or Randall Cobb.

So DE when 4-3, and OLB when using 3-4 schemes? Alot of work for a rookie, but would help discover his best position, and make him atleast a specialist in one if he doesn't live up to the first rounf pick.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
He's certainly big enough to play RE in a 4-3 and he could be a pass-rushing specialist when we switch to a 3-4 in certain situations.
I'm hoping that we can snap up someone like Ray Edwards in free-agency to play LE.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
No doubt he has the size, he is of ideal size. He was poor in Linebacker drills at the combine (thats why i posted originally) so was wondering how he saw him playing.
But i think asking him to learn a new position in OLB pass rusher, but not making it his majority situation, could lead to him slowly adapting.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
I'm ceratinly excited by him as a prospect. Morris and Dominik have my full backing after their last couple of drafts. Freeman is our guy for the future, McCoy will be a beast, Mike Williams was a steal and even Cody Grimm was quality.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Mike Williams certainly looks like a steal. It was characer issues as to why he fell was it not? Then he quit he team i think? But certainly a talented player.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Yeah he quit his team but some reckon he was thrown out. It seems that Morris and Dominik really do their homework on players like that. Both him and Blount both had "red flags" about character but they were taken in by us anyway and have proved to be great acquisitions.

Too late. Torain killed us when we played the Skins, though.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
was good pickup but too injury prone. Will be happy once we get another back to spell time with him. Wouldnt mind getting either taiwan jones or noel devine in the draft as a chance of pace aswell.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Bowers is on the slide out of the top 10 I think, Green would probably be the pick for the Browns imo, or Quinn if they want to stay with a pass rusher.
I don't see the Cards taking a rookie QB tbh, they need a guy to step in now and produce. Kolb or McNabb will end up taking charge in the desert imo.
I don't think the Vikes will take Julio Jones, but other than that it looks fairly solid. Still on the Jimmy Smith bandwagon.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Bowers had a medical in Indy over the weekend that i've read went well. As a said i feel he has too much talent to slip too far.
With Sidney Rice looking likely to leave, i think Jones is the perfect replacement.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
I doubt he makes it past the Vikes at 12. I think hes probably slipped to around the bottom of the top 10 though.
The reasoning is sound, I'm just wondering if WR is a high priority for the Vikes compared to DE or O Line. Nothing wrong with the pick.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
I was wondering the same thing about Jones to the Vikings, although yes he would be useful to the Vikings and they probably have to replace the leaving Rice, if they have no quarterback to throw to him then is he not rather a waste of a first round pick? I think they would be better building their O and D lines this year in what seem like deep classes. They can then look to trade for a good quarterback who will be able to sit protected behind the O line and should then be able to hit his receivers, and take a WR in the first round next year.

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
Well Jones has made it past the Vikings in our Mock, so our consensus view is that it is possible.
I still see him at the Redskins despite their many issues

Re: Virgil's Mock Draft V1
The Vikes and Rams picks could easily switch. I think Rice is going to want huge money and with Jones it would give them the ability to stretch the field and open up things for Harvin and AP.
The Vikes should be in the hunt for a vet QB, they are a team built to win now.
