The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
Lets see who can get the most accurate mock draft on here.
Rules:
This could be interesting.
Rules:
- Trades are allowed, and encouraged
- Only the 1st round will count towards scoring
- Simply post how you think the 1st round will go
- Picking the correct team, at the right spot, with the right player will net 10 points
- The correct team and player will net 5 points
- The correct player, and draft position will net 5 points
- Getting a team that moves out of their original spot at the correct position will net 5 points.
- Being more than 9.5 spots off with where a player gets drafted will lose 5 points (i.e 10 spots off will lose)
- Winner will receive absolutely nothing
This could be interesting.

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
I didn't explain the scoring well at all really.
Basically if Cam Newton goes #1 to the Panthers and you pick it, its worth 10 points
If he goes to the Panthers at #2, but you picked him to go #1 to the Panthers hes worth 5 points.
If he goes #1, but to the Redskins, and you pick Panthers at #1, thats also worth 5 points
If he goes #11 to a different team, then you lose 5 points

Think you should get 5 points for correct team trading up, and 5 points again as bonus if correct player

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
Awesome, I was going to suggest something similar but with slightly more flexible scoring based around how far off position you put each person (though with an obvious premium for getting it dead on!)
So this is great as I won't have to do the maths (says the guy with a master degree in maths...)

Also, should the Panthers or any other team agree a deal with the #1 pick before the draft, that pick will not eligible for points.

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
@Manning, I'll try not to shout. Is Paea this years equivalent of the Jags last year? Few other DTs i would consider being the shick high pick rather than him, but interesting.

Much appreciated Lol. Yeah there's a few DTs knocking around, but Paea was taken by Houston in about 5 of the mocks I looked at for research.

Yeah, I was surprised but the majority of drafts I looked at had him at Houston so I went with it.
Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
Just been looking through this thread as I'm starting to draw up my own draft and was checking I hadn't missed anyone too obvious. Im struggling a little with it being the first mock I have ever done and not sure entirely which players suit which teams but it's all good fun.
I did notice that AdZacO has picked Gabe Carimi for both the Colts and the Patriots, so you might want to take another look at it. Its so difficult keep track of everyone while you're doing it.

Yeah, I've just about written mine and it is a pain to keep track once you get to the middle of the round.
I found a list of draft prospects in excel format by Google-ing something (if only i could remember what). That has helped a lot cuz you can cross them off one by one and see whose left at every position.

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
I might try and find that, sounds helpful. The other reason I'm struggling is that there seem to be so many Defensive Ends and Tackles and beyond the first couple I don't know them well enough to really determine which team is likely to take who. It's been a case of looking at some other drafts, reading where players have visited and trying to determine who is better than who. No doubt I'll have got something horribly wrong.

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
On walter football they have a list of players by position and draft projection.
Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
Ok, time to break cover with my first ever mock draft. I'm sure I'll have picked someone for a system that doesn't suit them at all somewhere so feel free to point it out to me if I have. Most of it has come from other mocks and perceived team need.
1. Carolina Panthers - Cam Newton QB Auburn
2. Denver Broncos - Marcel Dareus DT Alabama
3. Buffalo Bills - Von Miller LB Texas A&M
4. Cincinnatti Bengals - Blaine Gabbert QB Missouri
5. Arizona Cardinals - Patrick Peterson CB LSU
6. Cleveland Browns - AJ Green WR Georgia
7. San Francisco 49ers - Robert Quinn DE North Carolina
8. *St Louis Rams* (From Titans) - Julio Jones WR Alabama
9. Dallas Cowboys - Tyron Smith OT USC
10. Washington Redskins - Jake Locker QB Washington
11. Houston Texans - Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska
12. Minnesota Vikings - Da'Quan Bowers DE Clemson
13. Detroit Lions - Akeen Ayers LB UCLA
14. *Tennessee Titans* (From Rams) - Nick Fairley DT Auburn
15. Miami Dolphins - Mike Pouncey OL Florida
16. Jacksonville Jaguars - Ryan Kerrigan DE Purdue
17. New England Patriots - Cameron Jordan DE California
18. San Diego Chargers - JJ Watt DE Wisconsin
19. New York Giants - Mark Ingram RB Alabama
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Aldon Smith DE Missouri
21. Kansas City Chiefs - Anthony Castonzo OL Boston College
22. Indianapolis Colts - Gabe Carimi OL Wisconsin
23. Philadelphia Eagles - Nate Solder OL Colorado
24. New Orleans Saints - Corey Liuget DT Illinois
25. Seattle Seahawks - Ryan Mallett QB Arkansas
26. Baltimore Ravens - Aaron Williams DB Texas
27. Atlanta Falcons - Kyle Rudolph TE Notre Dame
28. *Minnesota Vikings* (From Patriots) - Christian Ponder QB Florida State
29. Chicago Bears - Derek Sherrod OL Mississippi State
30. New York Jets - Phil Taylor DL Baylor
31. Pittsburgh Steelers - Danny Watkins OL Baylor
32. Green Bay Packers - Brooks Reed DE/OLB Arizona
So there we go, I'm obviously more certain about the first half than the second half. I think when Mallett goes off the board there will be a scramble to trade up and get a QB, I even toyed with someone taking the Bears pick to get Dalton or Kaepernick but couldn't work out who it would be.
If I get to double figures for correct picks I'll be delighted.

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
Newcomer to the boards here but thought I'd get involved in the mock draft fun!
Not sure there will be as many trades as some of you guys think.
Also I'm gonna go against the popular thinking and NOT select Cam Newton as number 1. I just get the feeling that Carolina is not 100% sold on him and will give Clausen another season.

Also I'm gonna go against the popular thinking and NOT select Cam Newton as number 1. I just get the feeling that Carolina is not 100% sold on him and will give Clausen another season.
1. Carolina Panthers: Marcell Dareus, DT
2. Denver Broncos: Patrick Peterson CB
3. Buffalo Bills: Cam Newton, QB
4. Cincinatti Bengals: A.J Green WR
5. Arizona Cardinals: Von Miller, OLB
6. Cleveland Browns: Julio Jones, WR
7. San Francisco 49ers: Prince Amukamara, CB
8. ***TRADE*** Detroit trade with Tennessee: Detroit Lions: Tyron Smith, OT
9. Dallas Cowboys: Cameron Jordan, DE
10. Washington Redskins: J.J. Watt, DE
11. Houston Texans: Aldon Smith, DE/OLB
12. Minnesota Vikings: Blaine Gabbert QB
13. Tennessee Titans (from Detroit): Nick Fairley, DT
14. St Louis Rams: Robert Quinn, DE
15. Miami Dolphins: Mike Pouncey, C/G
16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ryan Kerrigan, DE
17. New England Patriots: Anthony Castonzo, OT
18. San Diego Chargers: Phil Taylor, NT
19. New York Giants: Da’Quan Bowers, DE
20. Tampa Bay Buccanneers: Akeem Ayers, OLB
21. Kansas City Chiefs: Nate Solder OT
22. Indianapolis Colts: Gabe Carimi, OT
23. Philadelphia Eagles: Jimmy Smith, CB
24. ***TRADE*** Washington trade with New Orleans: Washington Redskins: Jake Locker, QB
25. Seattle Seahawks: Corey Liuget, DT
26. Baltimore Ravens: Cam Heyward, DE/DT
27. Atlanta Falcons: Marvin Austin, DT
28. ***TRADE*** San Francisco trade with New England: San Francisco 49ers: Andy Dalton, QB
29. Chicago Bears: Derek Sherrod, OT
30. New York Jets: Justin Houston, DE/OLB
31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Brandon Harris, CB
32. Green Bay Packers: Brooks Reed, DE/OLB

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
1. Carolina Panthers - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn – Consensus pick now, would pick Dareus personally
2. Denver Broncos - Marcel Dareus, DT, Alabama – perfect player for new 4-3
3. Buffalo Bills - Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M – best olb in the draft, they need impact on defence
4. Cincinatti Bengals – Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri – Palmer is gone so they take best QB
5. Arizona Cardinals - Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU – BPA, not a position of need, if they could trade this pick for Kolb and the 23rd pick they would do it
6. Cleveland Browns - AJ Green, WR, Georgia – Browns will be running to Goodell with this pick
7. San Francisco 49ers - Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska – Could take pass rusher, but CB is a big need for us
8. TRADE ST Louis Rams (Via Tennessee) – Julio Jones, WR, Alabama – Trade up to give Bradford a new toy
9. Dallas Cowboys - Tyron Smith, OT, USC – top rated OT, could also look at Watt
10. TRADE New England Patriots (Via Washington) – Robert Quinn, OLB/DE, North Carolina – BOOM I can see the Patriots trading up if someone like Quinn is available at this spot, Skins trading down
11. Houston Texans – Aldon Smith, OLB, Missouri – New pass rusher opposite Williams in the 3-4
12. Minnesota Vikings – Cameron Jordan, DE, California – Edwards may be leaving in free agency, they may surprise as at the end of the first round ..
13. Detroit Lions – Anthony Castonzo – Someone needs to keep Stafford upright
14. Tennessee Titans (Via St Louis) – Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn – They need a DT, Fairley’s old coach is there
15. Miami Dolphins – Mike Pouncey, G, Florida – Possibly Ingram but the RB class is pretty deep
16. TRADE San Diego Chargers (Via Jacksonville) – JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin – Take their DE, have plenty of picks to move up with
17. Washington Redskins (Via New England) – Jake Locker, QB, Washington – Shanahan gets his man and probably a better spot to take him
18. Jacksonville Jaguars (Via San Diego) – Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue – Consensus pick not going to argue it
19. New York Giants – Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama – Pouncey gone, don’t think they would take a tackle, Ingram a good value
20. TRADE Baltimore Ravens (Via Tampa Bay) – Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado – Trade up for the best CB available in front of the Eagles. Ray Lewis can fix his character issues
21. Kansas City Chiefs – Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor – Nose tackle for this upcoming team, Hali should run riot with Taylor taking up linemen
22. Indianapolis Colts – Nate Solder, OT, Colorado – You don’t make Peyton the highest paid player to let scrubs knock him on his back, he needs protecting
23. Philadelphia Eagles – Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin – Vick needs protecting, best tackle available and none of the CBs are good value here
24. New Orleans Saints – Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois – See Marshawn Lynch playoff run. Saints need someone to stop the run
25. Seattle Seahawks – Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas – Seahawks start the run on QBs, hopefully Mallett can put aside his concerns as he has the best arm in the draft
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Da’Quan Bowers – Bowers is incredible value here and could be a real stud next to McCoy
27. TRADE San Francisco 49ers (Via Atlanta) – Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State – This is more the move I hope they will make rather than what I expect them to do but he could be great
28. New England Patriots – Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State – DE spot locked up next to Wilfork for the considerable future
29. TRADE Minnesota Vikings (Via Chicago) – Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada – Not sure if they would take Kaepernick or Dalton, went for Kaepernick but think they will take a QB between picks 25 and 35, they won't risk having no one at their 2nd round pick
30. New York Jets – Muhammed Wilkerson, DE, Temple – Nice pick for the Jets, fits into their scheme
31. Pittsburgh Steelers – Aaron Williams, CB, Texas – They have to sort out their secondary, think Williams is a better DB than someone like Watkins or Sherrod is on the OL
32. Green Bay Packers – Brooks Reed, OLB, Arizona – Wow Matthews and Reed coming off the edge for the Packers. If the Patriots don’t move up for a Quinn/Smith then they will take Reed
So there it is my take on the draft, feel free to shoot me down the way I do to you, I wouldn't have it any other way

2. Denver Broncos - Marcel Dareus, DT, Alabama – perfect player for new 4-3

I like that both us niner fans have us trading back into the 1st to pick up the qb of the future (hopefully!).
Is this more wishful thinking than what we actually expect?!?

I really hope we do trade back into the first but have no idea whether we would. Don't think anyone knows what Harbaugh's drafting is going to be like, but York showed last year he will move up for his man like he did for Davis.
I would choose Ponder over Mallett, Kaepernick or Dalton. Can't see Locker lasting into the end of the 1st or he would be the pick

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
2011 NFL Draft Final Mock 28/04/11
This was the toughest mock draft I’ve done for quite a few years just with all the uncertainty surrounding where the QBs will go, the number of top rated prospects with character, medical and production questions and the fact that there isn’t really a cream of the crop like some years. Last year for example the top 4 or so picks were basically thought to be locks but this year it’s kind of up in the air. TBH I’d be happy if I got more than 8/32 right (not confident at all) and anyone who gets more than 10 gets serious kudos from me.
01: Carolina Panthers – Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
02: Denver Broncos – Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
03: Buffalo Bills – Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
04: Cincinnati Bengals – AJ Green, WR, Georgia
05: Arizona Cardinals – Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU

Re: The 606v2 Mock Draft contest
No offense, but it really isn't worth my time marking yours M2M. I think you got Jimmy Smith right and Taylor in the right place. A lot of lost points from 1st glance though.
*NOTE*
I'll be counting Baltimore as the 26th pick.
