Cheers, JimBob.
We're holding out well so far but a couple of quick wickets would make it look very different ....

Exactly, JimBob. Good tactics to bring on a dibbly dobbly bowler like Maddy to toss some up at him. Roy might be caught in two minds (and on the boundary! ) - hope not ....

Johnson batted well but seems to be having a poor time behind the stumps ....

Wecome aboard, Carrot.
Yes, well done to Ansari for his highest FC score although to judge this innings just in terms of runs doesn't really do it justice.
The end is in sight. Keep going ....

Comfortable draw in the end, very impressive performance from Ansari against that attack and under pressure, nice to see Roy play sensibly too. Ansari now has more runs from 4 innings than Jordan has from 12 and Ramps made from 10!

Re: surrey vs warwickshire match thread
As JimBob and Carrot have said, a tremendous performance from Ansari.
Good as well for Roy to play an innings built upon concentration rather than dashing strokeplay.
Over all, and being as kind as I can, a mixed four days. We can probably all look forward to a small sherry in the officers' mess when the Corporal issues his customary invitations for drinks tonight - however, I don't believe we deserve to celebrate with a full blown session (sorry, JimBob ).
Burns was a definite plus. Harinath probably just in credit for his knock first time round - and at least he took over half an hour for his second innings duck.
Major concerns for me relate to the deteriorating form of de Bruyn, Jordan and Lewis. Spriegel, Linley and Dernbach need to at least be in contention next time out.

Re: surrey vs warwickshire match thread
Evening all - will have to be a quick half before the officers' mess closes...
Good to see Ansari bat for a very long period. Jury has to be be out on whether in the longer term he is cut out to be an opener. But that was a formidable effort of concentration. And given recent record of Surrey failing to knuckle down in difficult situations I certainly won't be complaining at slow scoring rate.
Pleased to see Le Roi adapt to the situation as required....

One thing mentioned in interviews is that Ansari and Burns both want to open which is something I don' think any of the others every really have, definitely encouraging signs and a show of a classy temperament fro Ansari today - he has even been compared to Justin Langer by George Dobell on Cricinfo!

Re: surrey vs warwickshire match thread
At last, a policy of selecting a consistent opening pair is in operation and so far it is working pretty well.
In the interview of Surrey website Ansari referred to the situation as being "gratifying" - got to be captaincy material if he can use long words like that.
