Re: Olympic Day 1 Thread
Cool, thanks.
Surely Falla can't bother Federer again? That awful 2010 match was about Federer's back, though Falla has proven himself a useful player at Wimbledon since.
Llodra/Tsonga must be strong.

Llodra and Tsonga on grass look to be a pretty good team.
Giraldo beats Harrison 7-5 6-3. Clijsters beats Vinci 6-1 6-4 too.

Do you think Darcis will be able to serve it out?

It's something different from the GS at Wimby, so that's good.

Well done Steve Thought he'd lost it but that ace down the middle on 30-40 was amazing.
I don't like the km/h serve speed either. Stick with miles!

Oh dear, Mr Berdych.... Darcis with twice as many winners.
What is going on with Berdych this summer? He should reach at least the quarters of tournaments like this with his ability, and we've seen him challenge (and beat) the top 4 a number of times.
Is he the weakest mentally of the top 10?

Serena v Jankovic might be a cracker. Can't see anyone stopping Serena if I'm honest; on grass she's better than anyone.

It's a disgrace that there are so many empty seats given how quickly they sold out.

That's really annoying. People go to the bother of buying the tickets but don't turn up. Shameful.

This is the best she's looked to me since all the injury problems.

Yeah, and its usually all the best seats too.
It's those greedy corporates.

Re: Olympic Day 1 Thread
I really think if Serena got her act together she could go on a tear and win 6 of the next 8 slams. That would put her right in the GOAT mix.

Re: Olympic Day 1 Thread
It is indeed a corporate thing. Can some tickets be bought at the door?
I agree, she's nailed on for at least 3/4 more majors before her career is finished if she stays fit. She's just shredding Jankovic at the moment.
6-3 6-1 then.

Last service game was much better. Has struggled a bit on serve and return (although, lets face it most look a bit ropey in these departments when stood next to Murray Jr). He is volleying well though.

whoah Nore - massive over reaction. I can assure you I have no hidden fantasies about living in a totalitarian state!
I think it is a bit like football teams isn't it - it is hard not to cheer for someone that you have always supported. Besides which I feel no guilt because my mother is Swiss born and bred, my father American ditto and I was born here - so I have multiple allegiances, if it is anybody else's business, which I don't really consider it to be
Great news about Elena Baltacha, thanks carrieg and thanks too for news on Murray bros -desperate to watch them or Ann Keothovang (I just know I've spelt that wrong) and Wozniacki but have now lost control of the telly!
