First topic message reminder :

Imagine that FIFA decided that we had to compete as Team GB in the World Cup. I want you to select a Team GB squad, which is a hybrid of World Cup and Olympic requirements.

You will select a 23 man squad to compete for Team GB at Brazil 2014. That team must be made up of U23s at the time of the tournament (U23 = born on or after 1st June 1991), with 3 over-age players allowed.

Your squad must contain a minimum of 3 players from each of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You will then select a starting XI from that squad, which in turn must include 1 player from each national association.

I want you to report to me your squad, your starting XI and a set of tactics to suit that team. I would also like you to select a manager and assistant.

You should provide details on why you chose those particular overage players, and also why you chose your manager and assistant. Please submit on this page by 3pm on Friday 3rd August

maybe have brunt/mcourt in for NI
Allen/Ramsey/Giggs/Williams/Bellamy for Wales
berra/brown/fletcher/mcarthur/dorrans/rhodes for scotland so we're strong all over the park we can fill the gaps with english players

and on that note im going for lunch

I know you don't like him but Bale for Wales is a must if we are having an overaged Welsh player

tbh we don't have much upfront at all so would need atleast a forward as a overage player , we seem sorted winger wise tho personally i think the defence needs looking at

techincally we could get away with cole or baines if wanted to due to only needing 1 from each in the XI i don't mind which LB tho

That's the easy part shall we go with baines then if want to avoid age could throw betrand/gibbs in there instead?

I like Baines there if I'm honest. Good solid defender, offers set pieces as well

Rooney has to be there... what about Jonny Evans for an over-age player? Northern Ireland.

IMO you have to have him.. and Arlbrighton I'd like if he's young enough.

Albrighton isn't young enough. If Evans CB, I would say Oxo LW, and Redmond RW

I would play Oxlade RW, Bale LW and an under-age left back personally

find a good enough LB then and we'll swap but he has to better then redmond

I could only really find Robinson as a young LB tbh

I'll have a look.

Thinking about the squad as a whole, Ezekiel Fryers, Jason Steele and Steven Caulker should all be involved for starters

Could play Fryers LB?

Also from United, there's Will Keane who Fergie wanted to make a first teamer next season but got injured. Nick Powell who has just made the big money move.

Steele is too old, Caulker however isn't and is a very good shout. Not too sure about Fryers myself

I think we should have Nick Powell in the squad, sorry but IMO he's a must-have.

what about barkley from everton aswell?

I think personally at the time in 2014 when this World Cup would be, I think that Shelvey will be a more developed and better player than Powell at that point in time tbh

Ok how about that out Zaha for Barkley and Shelvey for Powell? Redmond can play both wings

Powell/Fyvie can both play on the wing if need be anyway

with Jones and Caulker at CB do we need Evans as a overage player or could we get someone better in?

Looks good to me

And Evans is good to have because he's Northern Irish, we can also look at the chemistry together from Man United, it works well as Evans is more intelligent and Jones goes flying in with tackles/headers/blocks.

Who would the other NI player be then Nando?
