I'm making shortbread!!! Just put 2 christmas cakes in the oven. Jeez who needs a gym when you can make cakes by hand. Think my arms are going to drop off!!

I love shortbread. Just the aroma of it baking gives me a high.
Good to hear you're busy with your business on top of your busy work week Swanny. Those Christmas cakes sound heavy.... yum!

I'm knackered LB if I'm honest! But that's not a complaint
The christmas cakes weigh nearly 4lb each, without the tin the final mixing with all the ingredients is tough going!
You should make some shortbread, it really is easy peasy.

My Mum is the expert.... can't compete. She has all those different shaped moulds and pans, etc. I always come home with containers stuffed with cakes and other treats.
Besides, I'm slightly lazy in the kitchen.

so now we get to the real point.
I don't particularly enjoy cooking but baking is therapeutic somehow. Maybe 'cos meals are a necessity but baking is a treat.

so... absolutely no male chauvinism going on then...
You could learn to cook, it might help you find one. A man who can cook is a very attractive proposition.

You got me there. Good advice.
I didn't mean it like that. Honest. Just need a cuddle and a cook in one.

Re: The Last Poster is the Loser
You're probably right, I don't really do 'evil'.
I do have a hell of a temper on me though but it's usually well hidden. Losing it just takes far too much energy and effort, I can't be ar$ed!

Had problems with my PC today... it didn't want to know me for about 5 hours.
But the Telstra call centre girl in Manila reset my password and it's all fixed now.

Re: The Last Poster is the Loser
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I must have been skating over thin ice without even knowing it. I had about 3 or 4 programs open at one time and kept forgetting to close what I wasn't using.
Would you believe in the middle of it all there was a bit "provide an organisational chart showing your understanding...." so I had to fork out $137 at about 4am to purchase some software from Illinois or somewhere.
It downloaded so smoothly and quickly (once I'd paid) and if I'd had this problem then - I'd have been well and truly stuffed!

Re: The Last Poster is the Loser
Really doesn't bear thinking about! I'm thinking of getting another laptop/PC purely for business use. That way, should it ever become necessary, I'll have an alternative option. And an external hard drive that I can save everything on; plan C

I need to look at doing something like that too. I save important things on memory sticks but I need to have a plan C too.

Re: The Last Poster is the Loser
Memory sticks are great but I generally just use them for photos and stuff. Don't know if you can save software on them. I'm looking at digital audio typing software and need to check if I can save that to a hard drive. Thank goodness a mate I used to work with is an IT whizz, he's kindly agreed to help me set up my website. I suspect I shall owe him a few fairly soon

Re: The Last Poster is the Loser
Yeah Swanny, I had one built 4 years ago and you start getting inquiries and orders from out of the blue you hadn't expected.
Even if one or two leads dry up (identify these quickly so you don't waste time), forget about 'em and concentrate on all the others (the ones you like) because they are the ones which are bound to be successful.
It's all about separating the golden wheat from the dry chaff. Select the best!

They're a necessary evil. What we do without the internet? It's my first port of call now when I want to research something. Excluding Wikipedia though... obviously.

I know, I spend all day at work on a computer then get home and switch the laptop on! Nuts really. I am trying to reduce my computer usage though, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read a book in absolutely yonks and I love reading.

Re: The Last Poster is the Loser
I was in Waterstones this morning and could have spent a fortune! Books by favourite authors that I didn't know had been published, and a whole load more that just looked interesting. And I've got a pile that I've been bought/bought myself that I must start. I think reading more will be my New Year's Resolution.

I have to admit I've never been that bothered about The Hobbit. I've only read it once admittedly, and I was only about 8 or 9. Maybe I was too young and I should re-read it.

I love going to the cinema by myself. Nobody asking inane questions, or chomping maltesers next to you
Did I imagine it or have you just changed your location? Weren't you armed and dangerous before?
