Champions League
Following on from the IPL and the EPL (Soon to be finished ) us at 606v2's Fantasy Cricket Pavilion are proud to announce our latest Fantasy League...
The 606v2 Champions League
The idea is for a 16 side competition with 4 Nations being represented. These nations are England, Australia, South Africa and India (4 sides from each of the nations). These sides will be fictitious and can be named whatever you want (just like EuroDiv)

Basically the teams will be made by us and therefore won't be "real teams". The idea behind this is to try and get all of the sides to start on an even footing before the auction starts. The teams will then be named by whoever is in charge of them.
Something like this for starting squads:
England Team 1: James Taylor, Ravi Bopara, Danny Briggs, Chris Nash, Jos Buttler (wk), Tim Bresnan, Rory Hamilton-Brown... etc
England Team 2: Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Monty Panesar, Joe Root, James Foster (wk), Steven Finn, Joe Gatting. etc
We are currently working out whether the league runners should assemble the initial sides or have a draft system for domestic players and then an auction for foreign players.
Re: Champions League
ah right thats interesting, however I only really know enough about english domestic players though

i would like a foreign side
however it means everyone would have to do research so people who vote in games know how good these foreign players are, espeiclaly the ones who arent well known.

Actually yeah, while I'm free now, I'm in the same boat so Hodge, so I'll limit myself to one league.

I was only joking Gregers
If I had an NZ-based team I'd lose most of my matches
Plus I've been in the UK so long now that I have no real clue who's who in NZ provincial cricket. The days when my club side in Christchurch had 3 test players and another 3-4 Canterbury ones on the books are long gone.
Not that I ever made the senior side when the top order included Astle, McMillan and the Papps brothers mind you.

Re: Champions League
Can people look around for others who might be interested as I should be able to start this (along maybe 2 other runners) within the next 2 weeks.
Can you please put your name below as well as the country that you would like to base your side in (and a reserve country) and I will then try and accommodate everyone.
Your choices are:
England
South Africa
India
Australia
Or if you really want a challenge any of Pakistan/West Indies/Bangladesh/New Zealand/Zimbabwe/Afghanistan/Ireland
Remember that wherever your team is based becomes your home quota of 6 for each xi. I'm currently thinking that of that 6 only 4 can be currently playing for the national side.

I'd assume that you played your home games in your home country, e.g. India, then went to England or wherever for your away games. That would be interesting tactically wise about having to get overseas players in that will help you overseas. Like someone who can play spin for me...

Re: Champions League
Exactly as JD says, your home games will be in your own country and then obviously away is wherever that team is from. Also remember that you can name your team whatever you want so I'm expecting some great puns!
Please try and get as many people interested as possible

We could base home teams on an existing team/group of teams for the "home" players?
Or an NFL style draft of home non-internationals?
Or a country-specific auction, followed by an auction of WI/Pak/SL/NZ/Bang/Zim internationals?

Re: Champions League
Its going to be done via everyone sending in a list of 10 "home" players, this list must contain no more than 5 players who have played for the country in the past 3 years.
The list has a bid next to each player for how much the coach is prepared to pay. We'll do two of those which will hopefully lead to each side having 10-12 home players.
This will be followed by an auction for foreign players which will follow the same format as previous years.
Finally a draft will take place for players to snap up any remaining "home" players, these can be chosen by anyone although obviously if they are not your "home" then they are o/s players.
Hope that makes sense...

Re: Champions League
You can start thinking of who you're going to go for, alternitively you could write up a list of all available players if your desperate for things to do.
Re: Champions League
just letting ya know gregers, for an auction or draft, will it be first come first serve or over a day etc?

Re: Champions League
Auction will be over a day as it has always been, draft probably in order of player
1-16 then reversed in pick order

Re: Champions League
Please post nation you wish yp have as your home nation below, will set up initial trade page
Ruled of first (blind) auction/trade:
Bid on 8-10 players from home nation, have £5 million to do so. Max bid £1 million per player. Highest bid gets the player.
Repeat until all teams have 8-10 home nation players
Then a cash injection of a further 5 million for overseas players
