Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
a quite brilliant race from Mo, the Ethiopians tried everything to unsettle him and for a horrible moment down the home straight I worried he was going to be beaten into second, but the crowd spurred him on and he just refused to be beaten, superb!

The double Olympic Champion, Mo Farah. The King of the Track this year, well done to him. That's the 27th Gold for GB at these games.
2 more chances tonight, Daley at 20:30 in the Diving, Campbell in the boxing at 20:45.

don't forget the women's relay Duty, though the best they can hope for is probably bronze (behind USA and Russia)

Caught the end but wow, Farah you feicing legend, unbelievable performance, I thought he was an outsider to win both but to do the double is simply stunning much props to Mo and Team GB, really a stunning games for them personally and the best I have seen anyway, well done lads.
The goodwill towards stops for the next hour. I hope John Joe floors that feicer!!! He was robbed against him before and he has to kill him or the judges will be looking to hand it to the GB lad. Nail him John Joe. Dave, we need you to support Team Ireland now

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
not sure if Semenya completely messed her tactics up there or if she's deliberately not running to win, she could have taken that one easily you feel but appeared to be caught out by Jelimo's attack...

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
They just went too quick for Semenya early ...thought Savinova had that from a long way out .
Jelimo really had a go but ended up setting it up for the Russian. Semenya finished like a train but was never going to get near the winner.

I agree. Be proud of a bronze medal, but you shouldn't jump into the pool and go crazy about it.

Literally seconds after the last competitor had dived - who was near on in tears after his last attempt - which meant him losing gold.
Of course Daley's been through a lot but this aint X Factor! We all have a story..

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
So the boxing, Gold 28 for GB, well done Luke Campbell.
And a good display by Daley to win Bronze, he improved massively from the horror show last night. But what was up with the celebration? You only won Bronze lad, considering you were World Champion only 3 years ago, I'd be pretty disappointed with only Bronze.

That chap Richard Branson is unbelievable.
Good way to finish the athletics with his mates (i.e. the 3 guys he was running with and about 80,000 other people in the vicinity).

The standard in that diving final was unbelievable though, they say 520 odd is usually a winning score and the American was up at 568. Good stuff all round, well in Tom I think our posterboy needed a medal.

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
Tom was superb tonight, dived magnificently, and was just unlucky that two guys dived even better, but still a wonderful bronze for him. Huge congrats to the American who was simply stunning, I thought the pressure might get to him but he kept it going.

Grrr...despite the fact that two other Team GB guys won gold, they have Tom Daley as the second part of the Sportsday at the end of the day.

I don't mind celebrating his success. It's just frustrating that he gets a lot more attention than some of the other athletes who won GOLD medals. It's To m Daley who Adam should have posted an article about questioning why he gets so much attention, as I think his perceived good looks are a huge part of it.

I actually forgot the boxing!
I woke up to the kayak guy, lazily woke up, turned on the TV, the race started and we won. Was a great way to wake up.

not bad
Luke Campbell was superb I thought in the boxing: fought the perfect fight in my book, kept the other guy out of range and picked his punches superbly. Quite how he was only a point ahead going into the final round and ended up only winning by 3 is a mystery to me (but then again, so was most of the boxing scoring throughout these games).

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
Yeah, didn't see the boxing live unfortunately, it was on the red button at the time and mine just refused to work. So that's why it slipped my mind.
For somebody who doesn't watch boxing, the scoring is even more of a mystery to me than those that normally do!

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
the scoring system in amateur boxing always seems a bit suspect to me anyway (boxing isn't, nor has ever been, merely about who can land the most shots); pretty sure that in a professional bout that would have been a shutout to Campbell.

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
Considering everything that has happened to Tom Daley, losing his father, plus all the flashlights affecting his diving - I thought he performed brilliantly. He really turned it around from the preliminaries where he scraped into the semi-finals. He was even leading on the penultimate dive rounds. I thought the two chinese competitors would finish first and second with Tom Daley down in fifth or sixth due to all the pressure etc. So I was really surprised to see him go so close.
Mo Farah what a champion. 10 km and 5 km double olympic champion. A definite sports personality of the year, except old Bradley has gone and won the Tour De France, plus got an Olympic gold medal and becoming in the process the most successful British Olympian of all time (in terms of total medals won at the time).

Re: Olympics Day 15 thread!
John Joe walked into the ring, smiling and laughing I knew he had lost it at that stage.
It's as poor as I have seen Nevin box, seemed to get the tactics wrong and his feinting and head movement was lax, believe he is better than the guy too (think he beats him 9 times out of 10) which is an awful shame. Campbell boxed well but Nevin was poor by his standards. Disappointing but it happens. He can still be proud of his performance at the games just gutting that he was poor when it mattered most.
Poor from him to be honest, he is far better than that.

He would have been fancied to go far but with the semi he had against the no.1 ranked guy think many expected him to fall. Superb fight that day, think since there was several GB fighters boxing it would have helped as opposed to only 1 GB lass when Katie fought.
