10 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season Empty Re: 10 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season

1) Aston Villa will finish higher than Liverpool

I don't think so. I see them finishing in that midtable area where the points between 10th and 15th are very little. Paul Lambert will improve each year though.

2) Fernando Torres will score over 20 goals

I don't think so. I think he'll lose his place in the side after a loss of confidence and Chelsea will play with a load of attacking midfielders.

3) Tottenham will win a trophy

I can see them having a decent cup run in the FA Cup or Capital One Cup, but I can see a lot of clubs doing that as well.

4) Blackburn Rovers will win the Championship

Certainly possible, I can see Kean getting sacked early on and the new manager do well.

5) Southampton will be the highest finishing promoted club.

I'm not sure about this, I think West Ham will finish highest, I see Southampton being relegated or at least in the relegation fight.

6) Raheem Sterling will be called up to the England squad

Not a chance (coming from a Liverpool fan), he's far too raw to get called up. I can see this being the year that he breaks into the Liverpool first team especially if Rodgers doesn't sign another winger, he can easily get Cole's place.

7) Sam Allardyce will be replaced as West Ham manager by Paolo Di Canio

I think Sam Allardyce is seen as unpopular at West Ham because of his style but will be too successful to get rid of. I think they'll finish comfortably midtable and they won't get rid because of the stability he brings.

8) Adam Lallana will win a Player of the Month Award

Certainly possible, probably in the earlier months when Southampton catch people by surprise.

9) An English club will win the Champions League

I don't think so. Chelsea will not get the same luck two years in a row, Arsenal are not strong enough to challenge in Europe, Manchester United will fall either at the group stages or last 16. I think Manchester City will falter the moment they face a big club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich. They don't have enough European experience just yet.

10) There will be a £20m plus transfer announced after the closing of the transfer window

No, I think this window will be surprisingly quiet in England and we won't see a dramatic deadline day.

Post by Crimey Wed 15 Aug 2012, 5:31 pm

My own bold predictions:

1. Robin Van Persie will stay at Arsenal and fail to score more than 15 goals.
2. Chelsea will start without a recognised striker at least once this season.
3. Wigan will have another dramatic escape.
4. Steve Clarke will manage to keep West Brom in a similar position to last year.
5. Roberto Di Matteo will be the first manager sacked.
6. Andre Villas-Boas will fall out with a major player at Tottenham.
7. Wayne Rooney will have a major fall out with Sir Alex Ferguson.
8. Michael Owen will be signed and score at least 10 goals.
9. Papiss Demba Cisse won't score 15 goals.
10. At Christmas the top four will be: 1. Manchester United
2. Chelsea
3. Manchester City
4. Liverpool

but by the end it will be:

1. Manchester City
2. Chelsea
3. Manchester United
4. Tottenham

1. i doubt it expecting better from villa and not much from liverpool but still expect liverpool to finish above them

2. agreed, i see him as chelseas only striker and imo will be a starter most games

3. uefas a chance if they take it seriously and league cup aswell. no major trophies though

4. very unlikely imo, in fact my own bold prediction is there more likely to be relagated. thier club is a mess and they have signed a load of players from other countries with no championship experience at all. the fans will be on the clubs back straight from the get go until kean goes by which time the slippery slope might be too far down

5. think west ham are my bet with big sam, im expecting all to do ok. expecting second season to really affect swansea and norwich with thier new managers.

the rest not much of opinion either way, city would be the favourites out of the english league to win champions league, uniyed will do better and chelsea are a complete unknown with all thier new players.

1) Aston Villa will finish higher than Liverpool
Unlikely, although I think Villa are in much better hands now than they were last season.

2) Fernando Torres will score over 20 goals
In all comps yes, in the PL no.

3) Tottenham will win a trophy
Unlikley. I think the loss of Modric will be massive for them and AVB could go either way.

4) Blackburn Rovers will win the Championship
Possibly if Kean gets sacked early doors.

5) Southampton will be the highest finishing promoted club.
I think it will be Wimbledon West Ham.

6) Raheem Sterling will be called up to the England squad
I hope not.

7) Sam Allardyce will be replaced as West Ham manager by Paolo Di Canio
Would be funny, but no.

8) Adam Lallana will win a Player of the Month Award
ok

9) An English club will win the Champions League
Man City are the most likely, but I think their dressing room is a ticking time bomb that could derail their entire season. Man United are still too weak in midfield. RdM will get sacked at some stage during the season. Arsenal will capitulate to one of the big boys.

10) There will be a £20m plus transfer announced after the closing of the transfer window
Possibly, I just hope it's not Daniel Agger.

Some of my own.

1) Everton will finish ahead of Spurs.
2) RdM will be sacked before March.
3) Rooney will outscore RVP
4) West Ham will be in the top 12.

Can't think of 10 Smile

1) City to win the League by about 10 points.
2) Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs all finish the season with a different manager to who they started with.
3) RVP to spend most of his time on the bench or injured.

Not sure thats really a BOLD prediction

More like Liverpool fans won't continue to live in the past and will get Champions League football this season.

That would have been funnier thumbsup

1. Torres will be one of the top 3 scorers in Premier league
2. Swansea, Reading and Wigan (finally) to get relegated.
3. Newcastle to finish outside the top 8
4. Qpr to finish top 10
5. Carlos Tevez to be Man City's top goalscorer (probably EPL topscorer too)
6. Joey Barton to come back from suspension and not have another one all season.
7. Di Matteo to be 1st manager sacked (think somebody already said that but I agree.)
8. Samir Nasri to be leagues top scoring midfielder.
9. Liverpool to finish in top 4
10. Last and probably most unlkely... Theo Walcott to outscore RVP.

Laugh Sorry am not a bitter fan. I know our limitations but we are ahead of Everton and Stoke

The stats don't bode well for Van Persie.

One complete season uninjured in 8? Paying £24mill for a injury prone 29 year old with one year left on his contract? Think Sir Alex is taking a big gamble.

He is a quality player when on song though but will he stay clear from injury? Only time will tell.

makes more sense to predict Suarez will cause problems and demand a transfer to a better club. OK

Yer, especially after just signing a 5 year contract.

Hamstring Injury 2011 February 22nd
Ankle/Foot Injury 2010 August 28th

Thigh Muscle Strain 2008 May 2nd
Thigh Muscle Strain 2008 April 4th
Thigh Muscle Strain 2008 January 11th
Thigh Muscle Strain 2007 December 24th
Knee Injury 2007 October 18th

Ankle/Foot Injury 2006 November 19th

Here's mine

1 - Fernando Torres will win the golden boot.

2 - Steve Clarke will be sacked by Christmas.

3 - AVB will replicate his Chelsea form and undo all of Harry Redknapps good work.

4 - Liverpool will be booed off the field at Anfield within 8 games.

5 - Swansea will finish rock bottom.

6 - Wigan will go into the last fortnight of the season safe from relegation.

7 - Man City will lose at least three home games.

8 - Mark Hughes' smugness will reach an all time high.

9 - Arsenal will keep fewer than 7 clean sheets.

10 - Wayne Rooney's hair laser treatment will fail...can't get any balder than that.

"8 - Mark Hughes' smugness will reach an all time high."

How do you measure smugness? Is there a smug-o-meter? Or do you just hold a picture of his face up against pictures of other people ranging from the Pope (not smug) to Cristiano Ronaldo (extremely smug)? Anyway, I agree with that point.

No idea Juan but where smugness is concerned Hughes is the benchmark.

He said "we will never be in this position again while I'm in charge" or something along them lines. What he should of done was thank Neil Warnock for their 3 away wins that made a world of difference in keeping them up. Hughes lost all but one away game by the way.

The ones that have already been quashed, or I don't think I'll get any more are:

1. Robin Van Persie will stay at Arsenal and fail to score more than 15 goals.
8. Michael Owen will be signed and score at least 10 goals.
10. At Christmas the top four will be: 1. Manchester United
2. Chelsea
3. Manchester City
4. Liverpool

You were wrong about Steve Clarke though Crimey. We are in a much higher position than last year Wink

Wait until the end of the season, I think you'll be in a similar position to last year, which I think is a good thing considering Steve Clarke is a totally new manager, who has taken over a club notorious for bouncing between the top two divisions, and has taken over a massively popular figure.

1. everton to finish above liverpool
2. norwich, swansea and reading to be relegated
3. top four in order- city, united, chelsea and arsenal (not that bold i know)
4. blackburn to be relegated
5. united to miss out on rvp with him going city

1 was right and got the top four right in wrong order. so close with blackburn which would have been a massive shout. they were right down there at the end, in the end it was wolves who did the double drop. couldnt been more wrong about swansea!!

4. Steve Clarke will manage to keep West Brom in a similar position to last year.
7. Wayne Rooney will have a major fall out with Sir Alex Ferguson.
9. Papiss Demba Cisse won't score 15 goals.

They were my best predictions.

9. Top Four - Man Utd, Man City Chelsea Arsenal

Those were my best predictions...Torres got 23 not 25 but thats a bih improvement and I honestly believe Suarez would have won a Player of the Year award if it wasnt for the ridiculous biting incident
