11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
Ok, I put up a similar thread last year and got one or two predictions spot on including Raheem Sterling winning and England cap despite some people wondering 'who?'.
So here goes again for this season:-
1) Norwich City to finish in the top 10.
2) Jacksonville Jaguar cheerleaders to appear at Craven Cottage in the pouring rain.
3) Liverpool and Tottenham to gatecrash the top four.
4) The three promoted teams to go straight back down.
5) Luke Shaw to get an England call up.
6) Man United to win a 'big 4' clash in 'Moyesy time'.
7) Cristiano Ronaldo to score on his first game back with Man United.
8) Fernando Torres to be Premier League top goalscorer.
9) West Brom to be the last unbeaten team.
10) Goal line technology to be used in the first week of the Premier League season.
And of course...
11) England to win the 2014 World Cup.

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
1) Unlikely.
2)
3) Tottenham wouldn't surprise me, but Liverpool? They'd have to go a long way this season.
4) They do have the weakest squads on paper, I suppose. I only think 2 will go down.
5) Only if England's wealth of full-backs all find themselves injured.
6) Would be hilarious!
7) He's not coming back.
8) It'll be RVP or Rooney.
9) Just no.
10) That'll be poetic if it happens.
11) I agree!

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
Mine are these;
Swansea to finish above BOTH Merseyside clubs
Martin Jol to be sacked before the 5th game of the season
Chelsea to finish behind both Manchester clubs
Palace to challenge Derby's all time lowest points record
And I don't think it's that bold to suggest Norwich will finish top 10, considering we've finished 12th and 11th now...just natural progression...

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
Here are mine.
All London teams but Palace will be in the top 10
Cardiff to sweep the season series with Swansea
Jose Mourinho to finish season as the winningest coach in PL history
Liverpool will win a trophy. Man United won't. (Community Shield is about as prestigious as my hairy sack! Only counts if it's YOUR club)
Random fan will throw Americanisation into bold predictions
Petr Cech to break his own record for PL shutouts
One established team will be relegated
Arsenal player commits terrible foul and Wenger sees it
Kevin Phillips to have a heart attack on a Palace counter (dude is old!!!)

8) Gary Hooper will make England's world cup squad.

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
He wants to. Said so in the spring. Not sure the FA want him. It's the reason Capello "walked". Terry is the poison fruit of England managers now after the FA's witch-hunt. He's still the best CB we have. Cahill has regressed after a good first 12 months at Chelsea and Jagielka isn't the most solid. Not gonna say anything about Dawson.Duty281 wrote:Here goes in no particular order:

I'm not sure you can say John Terry is the best centre back England have when he could barely make the Chelsea team last year.

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
I agree. Sure he's not the quickest, but in terms of aerial dominance, leadership, tackling, and marking, he's by far the best England have at their disposal. He's an absolute die-hard, and an inspiration. He's also a massive threat from set-pieces.CFCNick wrote:He wants to. Said so in the spring. Not sure the FA want him. It's the reason Capello "walked". No disrespect to Steven Gerrard, but there is only one England captain, and it's John Terry.

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
Well, he did miss 2-3 months with a knee injury after Suarez dived onto his leg.
Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
1/ Luis Suarez to commit a minor infraction (blowing his nose) and the Country's tabloid press to go into meltdown.
2/ Ashley Cole still to be rocking the "fro-hican" haircut as Cheryl isn't around to tell him it's not fashionable.
3/ Moyes to blow a gasket when Utd lose to a team in the bottom five and a reporter asks whether or not he's bitten off more than he can chew
4/ Wayne Rooney to score a goal that either takes seven deflections, hits his own ar$e before crossing the line or is one of the worst scuffs ever seem in the EPL and the tabloid press to go into meltdown screaming "Rooney back to brilliant best"
5/ Rooney to be seen eating burger and tabloid press to go into meltdown screaming "He just can't help himself can he?"
6/ Rumours to do the rounds that David Beckham is available for signing in January
7/ Michael Owen to still be whinging on that he never got a fair shake at Utd and that Liverpool ruined his career.
8/ Mark Clattenburg to get rid of that stupid haircut after a small child is seen laughing at him.
9/ One player to have three decent games in a row and the tabloid press go into meltdown scream that he's a shoe-in for POTY
10 / Gareth Bale to leave Spurs but only to fill in at London Zoo when one of the monkeys takes poorly
11/ Liverpool Football Club to delight and frustrate me in equal measure with the only saving grace that my wife's team (Man Utd) produce the square root of sod all so she can't rub it in....again!!!!!!

In regards to the ones that don't matter.
Chelsea to win the PL
Arsenal to finish 7th but will win the CL- claiming there CL spot for next year in controversial circumstances.
Man U will end up with nada.

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
I can't see Rooney leaving in January to be honest, so I've got that spot on.1) All three promoted sides will go down
2) Wayne Rooney will stay at Manchester United
3) Jose Mourinho will have abandoned his new 'maturity' by Christmas
4) All three promoted sides will have different managers by the end of the year
5) Liverpool will finish above Everton
6) Gary Hooper will be the highest scoring Englishman but not make the World Cup squad
7) Newcastle will sack Alan Pardew
8) Manchester United will finish below City, but do the double over them
9) One of the promoted sides will gain wins over two of City, Chelsea or United.
10) Stuart Pearce will return to Premier League management
Think Mourinho criticising his own player today quite badly could be seen as abandoning his new mature persona.
Cardiff are one win away from doing this.

why should it be deleted? I didn't see the thread before so I thought I would post my predictions before it was too late

Re: 11 BOLD predictions for the forthcoming season
Damn, I missed this, loved going back to it last year, did pretty decent.
I'll just post a late one, it doesn't need to be held up as an equal to the earlier posts
1) Manchester City to finish outside the top 3
2) Luiz Suarez to get Player of the Year
3) Stoke to finish in the top 10
4) Sam Allardyce to be sacked
5) Manchester United to win the league by 10 points
6) Crystal Palace will stay up
7) John Terry will come out of International retirement
8) Joe Kinnear will be the temporary manager of Newcastle
9) Paulo di Canio will attack one of his own players
10) Arsene Wenger will announce he's leaving Arsenal at the end of the season

Good old Ashley...and good for Daniel Sturridge...long may it continue!DAVE667 wrote:1/ Luis Suarez to commit a minor infraction (blowing his nose) and the Country's tabloid press to go into meltdown.
2/ Ashley Cole still to be rocking the "fro-hican" haircut as Cheryl isn't around to tell him it's not fashionable.3/ Moyes to blow a gasket when Utd lose to a team in the bottom five and a reporter asks whether or not he's bitten off more than he can chew
9/ One player to have three decent games in a row and the tabloid press go into meltdown scream that he's a shoe-in for POTY10 / Gareth Bale to leave Spurs but only to fill in at London Zoo when one of the monkeys takes poorly
11/ Liverpool Football Club to delight and frustrate me in equal measure with the only saving grace that my wife's team (Man Utd) produce the square root of sod all so she can't rub it in....again!!!!!!
