Yes, Everton fans lost friends & family at Hillsborough, but that takes nothing away from the fact the club have always been supportive to us and show class.
That is the truth.

Was at the game last night and must say the second half was fantastic...
Ref had a shocker. Ball crossed the line, but it wasnt a free kick to start with so justice done perhaps. Fellani was not offside, but Ben Arfa was clean through on goal so I find all the sympathy Everton seem to be getting a little unjust.
Great game and a pint a piece is probably about right.

Ben Arfa wouldn't have been through on goal if had been given that's why people are being sympathetic to Everton Should of been 3-2 for me

It was 3 v 1, very real chance of scoring, espeically with his pace.

What he is quite rightly saying though is Ben Arfa wouldn't have been in that position if the goal was given like it should have been, Moyes was critical of his own sides failure to finish the Toon off but it was harsh, his side scored two goals and got two good goals chopped off, only so much you can do sometimes, felt Everton deserved it over the whole game, by a mighty distance the better team first half while I felt Newcastle slightly shaded the second

Everton could and probably should have been 3 goals to the good at half time. Definitely 2 points dropped there but agree it was an excellent match.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
To be fair while Everton were totally dominant in the first half, I felt the two best chances went to Newcastle, really was a cracking match, I had 3-1 Everton on and my old man put 2-2 on

And Everton would not have 'scored' if the ref hadn't given a free kick for no reason. Things worked themselves out in the end, even if Everton did play the nicer stuff.

To be honest I can't quite recall the foul you mention, was that for the first good goal disallowed or the second?

It was for the Anichebe goal, not a freekick so no harm done...
The ref then denied us a excellent goal scoring opportunity, which we will counter balance with the Fellani goal. As I said, these incidents worked themselves out.

1. Was it a freekick?
2. Did the ref make an appalling call to stop the play?
Thanks

As I've said I can't recall the foul, Both those incidents occured at the same time as the goal though, how you thencan say it counters Fellani's goal is beyond me, two certain goals against two dubious fouls?????
Anyway, that's obviously your view for the right or wrong reasons, that's not up to me to decide but its a bit pointless carrying on this conversation with one another when our views are clearly not going to ever end up in agreement in this issue

They are good but swansea have Ben extremely poor, especially their defending.

Everton tend to end the season this well, so they've been capable of doing it for a few years, the question is whether their form will dip now rather than improve as usual.

Before today they had the same points as at this stage last season apparently.
They are going along as you'd expect them to really. Qo points from united, WBA, Newcastle, Swansea and villa.

Anyone else wondering how nobody in the country seems able to defend properly?
Just watch motd and see the state the defenders get themselves into continually.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
I just think defending is much more difficult now than it ever has been, fouls are much easier to give away and attackers are always coming up with new ways to get a goal while defending hasn't really developed as noticeably.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
Perhaps but as soon as the initial defensive shape is distorted people are all at sea, the positions the back four end up in are ludicrous. It just seems to me that players are perhaps over coached in this shape and are unable to adapt to situations.
Look at evertons first yesterday swansea got nobody over the ball, didn't hold any sort of line or put anyone in front of fellani, this was schoolboy type stuff.

Hope Liverpool get caught up in the occasion as we did on the 50th anniversary of Munich. We were terrible in the cl so I can see us getting beaten otherwise even though Liverpool are gash.

I think if Shelvey was sent off, Evans should have been too.

Shelvey was more out of control, but Evans is two footed

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
Nah Evans is first to the ball and clattering through it, only looking at ball one foot involved in the tackle (he's actually kicking it with his instep). Shelvey is in the air misses the ball goes over it and crunches Evans.
Stupid to say otherwise really - as confirmed by Jamie redknapp suggesting it.

Would be naughty if it was straight on but he leads with his right instep and his left foot whilst up isn't really involved in the tackle.

A United side of times gone by would have ripped ten men to shreds regardless of who there were. A draw for Liverpool will be a great result mind.
