Quite pathetic defending by Villa there for the third goal. Silly free kick given away and poor marking

Good result for NCFC that. Much rather be facing Utd side coming off a win than a loss.
As for NCFC ourselves, I said before the Stoke/Reading games that I would take 3 points and we got 4, so am chuffed with that.
Next two games are Utd at home and Everton away so really if we get anything from them I will be happy. If not ho hum

Chelsea at around EVENS tomorrow is one of the best bets you will ever see. If they were playing any other team than Liverpool occupying 13th place at home they'd be at least 2/5. Get on it people.

He's proved a lot of people wrong. Particularly messrs Merson, Le Tissier and Nicholas on Soccer Saturday who had us all for the drop.
Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
Silly prediction that. With an organised defense and odemwinge you were never gonna go down, amazing level attained so far and I hope it continues.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
I'm upset to say the least.
2-0 up part of me was thinking here we go. At last 3 points at home against utd.
Hmm, but this is utd, they are a top team, 2 goals up means feck all against them, for us anyway.
Great for Weimann to score 2, thought he was going to get the hatrick.
Ur man Chico is a great player, may get slated for this(some may say sore loser), but first goal I thought he was luck to control it, second goal right place etc, but deflected off vlaar.
Ferguson again annoys the hell out of me(again the sore loser will come in to play some might say). But his looking at the watch all the time, hate the bloke.
Maybe a bit ott, but I,m hungover, hurt, peed off, (also we lost the rugby) had an arrogant South African in my ear yesterday evening,(never heard of those before ). Oh we'll bring on city.

Giving away silly free kicks that lead to goals is nothing new to us.

Happens to everyone at every level, people seem to lose concentration when a set piece is given away stupidly - but zero out of ten for lambert making a sub right before it was taken!
Glad we got the points but we can't keep coming back and the goals we have away were absolutely diabolical.

Jermain Defoe has started this season on fire so naturally AVB drops him for a massive away game. Baffling.

Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool.
The game is at a canter, Chelsea look as if they have 4/5 gears to go up. Liverpool knock it about nicely but look toothless in attack

Decent match but I'm not sure whether Liverpool were good or Chelsea were bad? A mix of the two I suppose. Good point for the reds nonetheless. Wigan and Swansea next up. Both winnable games and hopefully four points at least.

Chelsea wasteful and Liverpool impotent for most of the game I'd suggest.

Liverpool lucky they weren't out of it after Rodgers bizarre decision to give carragher his first start and to implement a 5 man defense for the first time this season.
Views on spurs- they've no leaders and no footballers - why did no one cover vertongen? Never seen a team make so many bad decisions in a game.

Didn't get to see the game, but happy with a point.
Big stand out for me is Luis Suarez responding to critics in the best way, joint top scorer so far. Early days but 8 goals now means he's on for 20+ if he can keep it up and stay fit.

Interesting article Owen. If Spurs leave the Emirates Saturday afternoon three points better off then those disgruntled fans may well become silenced, for the time being anyway. I think the way Spurs are run - in economical terms - they are always going to have difficulty keeping hold of their top players due to their wage structure. I'd imagine that Gareth Bale could very well be earning three times as much as he is now at a "Champions League" club when he does leave which is only a matter of when and there's no way Spurs are going to pay him silly wages regardless of where they stand in the table. They just operate that way which is sensible at least.
Villa Boas does come across as hard work and I can imagine players falling out with him due to his seemingly unapproachable nature. Couple that with his strange team selections and tactical decisions and you may well have a recipe for disaster. To me he just comes across as an egomaniac who's believed his own hype after one decent season at Porto. He was lucky to get the Chelsea gig and even luckier to bag the Tottenham job after bombing at Stamford Bridge. He might last the season but will he be there in two years time? I can't see it.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread
Cheers Freekshow.
I am careful to tar all Spurs fans with the same stigma as those who have been booing this season. Even when the club went on a good run of form in September there was always an air of disgruntlement with the fans.
The football on offer just isn't the same as it has been over the years and regardless of how much people say 'oh give him time' the fact is I think many Tottenham fans want the team to play in a certain way. Under Boas they simply won't be playing the attractive style the fans want...no matter how much time is afforded him.
I certainly agree with you with regards to his character as a person (in terms of how he portrays himself on camera at least). You would have to say that the success he had at Porto perhaps came a little to early...given the route from Portugal to Chelsea I think he kind of got sucked into the hype that many believed in that he was the 2nd coming of Mourinho.
I do like the fact he is stubborn and resilient in his belief in his own ability...however you do have to have a certain persona and aura to be able to pull it off, especially at his age and when dealing with the ego's that come with the Premier League management.
He actually made a huge error for me in caving into the fans demands on Thursday night against Maribor and playing 4-4-2. That is something you would never have seen Mourinho do...certainly not this early on his reign.

Who holds the Europa League in high regard G? Ramos won it in successive seasons and where is he now? Porto almost always win the Portuguese league, that's no big deal.

To even consider something as serious as points deduction it would have to be proven that Chelsea did lie rather than they made a mistake.

Just seen Stoke play West Ham this weekend. Anywhere I can watch this awesome display of passing, flowing football?
In all honesty though, aside from the North London derby, there's not any games that look particularly inspiring this weekend.

Norwich vs united could be good, gave us a hard time last year and we've been vulnerable away from home this year.
Expect us to get the win in the end but could be a watchable game.
