Filming your swing
Does anyone film their swing for some self analysis? I'm a bit sceptical to be honest, but downloaded the V1Golf app to give it a whirl. Out on the range last night and took a couple of films of my swing and chipping action. On the main swing in particular it was interesting to note how much my head moves back on my backswing by drawing in wee circles at various points through the swing, but beyond that my cameraphone didn't take enough frames per second to see much of the downswing etc. I might try and load up onto youtube and post a link later if i can. Be good to hear others thoughts and maybe see a few swings too.

Been meaning to for a while but haven't got a suitable tripod at the moment.

Re: Filming your swing
That ball gets a good thwack fella!
My mate recorded the swings of our 3 ball on his slow mo camera a while back. Urgh. Allsorts "wrong". Never again, unless by a suitable pro as a part of a series of lessons or a club fitting. All of us were rolling around (not holding anyone up) after looking at each others.
I'm never sure that the swing when you know you're being filmed is the same one you use when you're not (that's my excuse).

Re: Filming your swing
I have the Swingreader app on my phone and for a bit of fun have filmed my swing and friends' too. You can share them easily too. (But you're not seeing mine!)
I tried to do a little bit more with a friend's rather than just laugh at it but most of what I suggested, while broadly speaking being about right, was rubbished when he had a lesson a week later. I was sort of right in my observations but was not good enough to get to the correct cause. So in short you need someone who knows to be able to read it properly.
It all comes back to how complex the swing is and how many different ways there are to make a half decent one. A good teacher will be able to sift what you need.
Where I did find it useful was showing my teacher a shot of mine from a recent round and he was able to point out a few things.
I do also find that when you know you are being filmed you tend to slow everything down a bit.

Re: Filming your swing
Other thing with the Swingreader app is that when you upload it to their site you can go through it frame by frame which makes it easier to see what is going on. The quality does drop on the upload though. If you copy the film onto the iPad the amount you can see on the bigger screen makes it a lot better.
