What is with the Cuban Pros??
It seems like they are either not as committed to the sport or getting a hard time trying to make it big.
Take Rigondeaux for example, he is under the wing of probably the most powerful promoter in the world and nobody really cares or knows what hes doing. After what Arum did for Pacquiao in the match making department, surely he could drive this guy to the top of the sport no bother. He is unbeaten and has the tools to wipe almost everybody within a stone of his weight out. Donaire is sort of well known and seems to be getting the bigger fights, yet he is an awful
Lets move up a little, Gamboa.......
Now, Gamboa vs Lopez was a complete disaster as Arum kept these apart for too long and then Salido blew the whole script out of the water. Hasn't fought since October last year against De Leon. But again, has went off the radar in terms of hype. About a year and a half ago, everybody was talking about him, now he isn't really mentioned. Hopefully fiddy and Floyd sort this out.
Lets move up a little further, Erislandy Lara. I think this is the new hyped "feared man" just like Paul Williams was supposed to be. Ever since he got robbed, people talk about him as if he is the 2nd coming. Even though that fight he hit Williams with everything but the kitchen sink and yet a guy who had just been put to sleep in his previous fight was still fighting back. He should have had a prior loss to Carlos Molina too so karma caught up with him. Good fighter, but has struggled with lesser fighters than what is currently in front of him. Don't think he deserves the silly hype he gets.
Odlandier Solis...........too busy eating doughnuts and playing dominos out in Joel Diaz's backyard to bother getting in shape. Just another fat heavyweight. The biggest night of his life and he goes in with a bad knee. Another waste of talent.
Shout out to the others who are being wasted away on Irish shores.
Is it a Cuban thing?? It seems their best fighters are just cursed to me.

Re: What is with the Cuban Pros??
Ok let's get this clear, promoters are the ones who have to arrange the fights and many active fighters are getting shafted as much as these guys and odlanier Solis seems to be the only one who actually has a problem and as a heavyweight it happens more often than it should
I can't imagine too many people who wouldn't have Gamboa outside of their top 15 p4p fighters in the world atm. He has only had 20 fights and has comfortably beaten and blitzed Salido (who is world class and could be #2 at the weight), De Leon, Solis and barrios. He was suppose to have fought Rios but didn't want to stay with Top Rank who had managed him poorly with Lopez. He is lined to face Salgado for a title at 130 and can expect major things with TMT who I feel they want to make him the face of boxing
Lara is overrated after williams fight and is pretty dangerous as you isn't know what to expect. Was very poor vs molina but many are. He is fighting matirosyan who is another one who hasn't had a good level of opposition. Both need a big win
Rigondeux is a talent but to me Arum doesnt see the $$$ signs when he sees him as he has cagey if not brilliant at times style and hasn't built up a fanbase which takes years. Rigondeux needs a big win vs donaire which he could get but donaire has a bigger potential for arun to make money

Re: What is with the Cuban Pros??
I think the fact that they got Rigo a world title after about 8 fights shows that they can certainly bring him along at a decent pace. But he has been a Pro for 3 years now and has fought 10 times. The majority of those fights barely making it to 3 rounds. Surely he should (could) be fighting more than this. Seems like a waste.

"Donaire is sort of well known and seems to be getting the bigger fights, yet he is an awful"?
What is that supposed to mean?
