That's a real shame. A good player "back in the day". He was even still in the Top 20 not that long ago (a year or 2?). It's not a surprise though, he had been struggling with injuries this year.

He got the tag Mosquito coz of his silent killing abilities, anybody who underestimate the Spaniard's game will in for surprise, a very good player on his prime but like many expected didn't have a long consistent career.
Yes he will be missed, but I guess fans already got used to his absence.

The question is was Roddick that much better? I mean I know he retired in his home country bowing out at the US Open but all the eulogies would make you think he was a multiple slam winner way ahead of Juan Carlos considering the lack of coverage this impending retirement is generating.
And who did Andy beat to win that slam? Yep, Juan Carlos following on from his own French open victory.

Roddick is still better than one JCF, Roddick made so many GS finals 3 in Wimbledon and ended up in top 10 for so many years, sadly JCF's time at prime could be counted with fingers.

Hmm maybe so but one French Open title plus one runner up and two SF there in addition to one runner up at the US and a SF at the Aus Open ain't too shabby.

not at all, but its still shame considering his talent and ability to win big , he didn't do justice to GOD given talent.

@iC Very glad to see you back here.
JCF will be missed.
Roddick had his own career.
Happy for both and what they brought to the court?
JCF beat Nadal @Rome 2008, IIRC. Nice victory.
