Asbo, Tom Ryder isn't even playing tonight, he's ill.
Weir also picked up an injury before the game.

Glasgows defence around the rucks is shocking, Connacht just keep strolling through the middle.
Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Connacht Rugby, Scotstoun Stadium k.o. 7.35 Friday 21st Sept
I take it back about Ryder, it could have been Swinson. Feic the Warriors need to seriously buck their ideas up - 2nd gear at this level is not sufficient - careless, not clynical at all, sloppy

Regardless of what people say about Jackson, he's got a great passing game.
Good try, now to close out the game.

Ah well, 5pts is not to be sneezed at, but they'll need to play far better than that if they have any serious ambitions

Good for Glasgow to pick up the 4 try bonus point.
But wow, they've a lot to work on, lineout poor, defence poor, counter rucking poor, handling poor. Still onwards and upwards

Thought murchie was good tonight, as was dth, but overall a poor glasgow performance. Very pedestrian.
Still, denied connacht a bonus point, and bagged the 5 points.

Didn't play very well but got the BP, defence was good again apart from a couple of lapses.
Thought Grant, Swinson, Kellock and Jedi performed well up front, improved going forward when Jackson came on with Dunbar and Murchie doing well. DTH finished his chances very well and deserved his MoM.
Glasgow are short a couple quality game breakers, queue Strauss and Matawalu.

Great bonus point win. Any win when you are not playing well is a good one!

I feel sorry for connacht fans. the mistakes that connacht were making must have been driving them insane. i hope duffy isnt too badly injured, he's pretty essential to this connacht team.

Are you serious. Glasgow's rucking was shocking all night, neither Swinson or Kellock tried to clear anyone out.
The defence around the fringes was also very poor.
On an uptick they did look lively in attack once Wight went off.

I think you have to give some credit to connacht here. Their pick and drive game was well executed attacking the fringes of the rucks.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Connacht Rugby, Scotstoun Stadium k.o. 7.35 Friday 21st Sept
Wight maybe overdid the kicking from hand but his goal kicking was ok. Jackson looked up for it and set up DTH nicely for No 2 (DHT according to Matt Taylor in the club afterwards ) -who needs Visser anyway. DTH is a better all round player imho. Wee Dunky Meatloaf was sitting behind us suited up so a bit of reorg with him and Tom Ryder out maybe.
Great to report draught beer available and not Carling spew either (Belhaven and Carlsberg) -yessss. Catering better and could hear the tannoy announcements.
Five points is five points muckers !

Ian,
in the club and at the bar behind the East posts - better and a big improvement. Need to work on the feng shui in the club gymnasium right enough. Scoreboard needs tweaked but thats in hand according to Clyde's minder !

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Connacht Rugby, Scotstoun Stadium k.o. 7.35 Friday 21st Sept
You can't argue with the outcome, but Glasgow have a lot of work to do. They've lost last seasons cohesion and aggression in defence, and although they were good in patches, they allowed Connacht the ball for quite long periods of the game and were passive by last season's standards.
Really nice play by Jackson for DTH's second try though, and Dunbar is continuing from last season as a strong and direct runner. S Lamont finished his chance nicely too, good strong hand off, although I thought his ball carrying was lacklustre by his own high standards in that repsect. Seymour still ahead in the pecking order in my opinion, although if Dunbar switches to 12 then S Lamont could have a shot at playing 13.
Still, the last two wins puts Glasgow back on track after a poor start.

Well done Glasgow, really disappointed Connacht couldn't get a bonus point. Poor start to the season for them.
Very brave of Willie Faloon to play this game.

That may well be true, but there was nothing brave about his no arms body check on john barclay after he'd passed the ball. That was just nasty.
Great chance for glasgow to get back to back bp wins. Hopefully we'll see horne and dunbar given another chance together.

Re: Glasgow Warriors vs Connacht Rugby, Scotstoun Stadium k.o. 7.35 Friday 21st Sept
Glasgow were abysmal last night. Not enough numbers at the breakdown till too late in the the match, non-existent defence around the fringes and generally nothing happening in the mid-field. Jackson played well when he came on. It's frustrating that Glasgow are such a poor side at times but they did well to get a bonus point.

Right was anyone else peed off at Gav Pearson for playing that bloody coldplay song right after the minutes silence when he knew about the plan to have a chorus of SUFTUM after the silence......... Such a pity as the North stand did try and start it up but got drowned out by the PA....

Aye Crypto you are correct but to play badly and get 5 points v a very stubborn Connought side is a small improvement - think of last season when v Treviso, we played them off the park at Firhill and still lost ?

Does anyone know why connachted kicked that lst pen from their own half when they could have kicked to the 22 and tried get closer to the posts. That would have given them the LBP but to kick from where he did he was never going to make it. It annoyned me as you may be able to tell.

he obviously backed himself that he could make and to be fair to him he almost did. But i agree it was completely the wrong decision.Brendan wrote:Does anyone know why connachted kicked that lst pen from their own half when they could have kicked to the 22 and tried get closer to the posts. Backing yourself with 10mins to go is fine but when it was most likely the last chance they would have had is different.
I guess I'm a little disappointed with them and had hoped they would have kicked on from last year. The LBP was their's to get and they didn't get it. There were plenty of other times they just let themselves down. Guess that is just the one that stick out in my mind.
