I see Ashwin coming round the wicket.....he is flighting all right but I think the line is too defensive....perhaps because it's still PP.

Seems as though Pakistan can only produce bowlers, and India only produce batsmen and spinners.

Jamshed one of the most over rated players in world cricket. Lets see him score runs outside these Asian pancakes.

Hafeez, the man who's survived a drop caught in very match so far, fails.
Pakistan clueless vs Kohli and Yuvraj ie club level bowlers.

slow bowlers proving very hard for Pakistani batsmen to get away......Kohli with his dibbly dobbly seam up medium stuff ( slower than Afridi's spinners)......bowls a faster topspinner-like on to Hafeez's stumps.
India need to put their foot on the throat and choke them....can't allow a recovery...won't be easy chasing anything against Pak bowling

india win clinically and get almost equal on NRR to Pak.
So the group of death is still alive and all teams can still go throuhg......and even thouhg mathematically...Aus can still be knocked out...if they lose by a huge margin to Pak and Ind win by a huge margin to SA

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
A decent opening performance from Sehwag today, not the usual explosive stuff, or the more recent dismissal within the first couple of overs. But 29 of 24, provided India with a platform towards victory. Wasn't an entirely convincing knock, but a lot better than what has been the recent offerings.
People llike Shastry and Manjrekar were asking questions about Yuvraj's place in the side and even his squad selection, and we have been debating the question on these forums as well. But I think although Yuvraj hasn't reached his peak with the bat or ball, he has been better than many others. His bowling in particular, has been underrated, interesting to note that he has been India's joined highest wicket taker in the tournament so far. If India have to go in with 4 bowlers, then Yuvraj will certainly have to play. Tiwary, Raina, Sharma, none of them are half as good as Yuvraj with the ball, and Sehwag hardly bowls in T-20Is, in fact he doesn't bowl as much as he used to do in tests and ODIs as well.

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
I think Pakistan missed a trick by not unleashing their two fast bowlers who can really bowl, fast at Yuvraj...angled into his body and lifting.......his reflexes haven't recovered and he was slow to react against Aus.
Neverthless as msp said he made up for his place even before he walked on to the field with his bowling and one direct throw run out.....and even when not 100% he is I think the best Indian batsmen when it comes to clobbering spinners with brute power.
Dhoni is rather stubborn with his team selections.
It was a lesson on "how to play spinners" exhibited by Kohli, Sehwag and Yuvraj...on a pitch that did have something for the spinners and a team that has the best spinners in the world

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
Scenarios for Ind, Pak, SA and Aus
--India and Pak have almost the same NRR.
--all 4 teams have a chance still
--and mathematically even Aus can get knocked out if Pak beat Aus by a huge margin and India beat SA by the same huge margin
scenarios:
1) If Ind beat SA and Pak lose to Aus...Ind and Aus are throuhg
2) if Pak beat Aus by a huge margin( so that they overtake Aus in NRR) and India beat SA by the same huge margin....Ind and Pak are throuhg
3) If Ind lose to SA by a very narrow margin and pak lose to Aus by a medium sized margin.....Ind and SA might go throuhg.
so in terms of odds...Aus is best placed followed by India and then Pakistan....because Ind is playing the not well organized SA and Pak the awesome form Aus.
But all four are really top sides....anything can happen

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
If Pak beat Aus, which is quite likely(Watson is due a bad game) then our match vs SA becomes a dead rubber for them as they'd be out and thats when they'd be at their most dangerous. I'd rather see us face SA when they have a good chance of qualification as that increases the likelihood of a "choke". Amla is due for some runs. And he loves our bowlers. I am a bit worried.

Well, Watto is due a bad game and the rest of the batting line up is untested. Could struggle against Ajmal and co. Pak recently beat them 2-1 in the T20I series in the UAE.guildfordbat wrote:Shanks - not convinced of your building bricks there. I don't see Australia losing to Pakistan ....

^ Pakistan is capable of beating ANYONE.....
however in case the above happens...SA will have to beat Ind with a bigger margin...to overtake Pak's NRR

Applying some of that reasoning, Bopara is due a good knock.
If Watson does have a bad game, I suspect others will be more than keen to try to step up. Anyway, we'll soon see ....

England SL and NZ WI today.
Again all 4 sides can make it although SL is best placed. Wins for SL and WI gets them through without questions. WI win and SL loss might see the WI going out as the NRR isn't great. WI lose and SL win, again England or NZ might just go through on NRR.

England will know exactly what they have to do as the NZ-WI game is on first. England just need to win and they should be in the semis - unless WI give NZ a big thrashing. Lumb in for Kieswetter today, hopefully.

New Zealand are fielding after winning the toss. Huge blow for them even before the toss, Dan Vetori out injured. Kane Williamson is dropped and Jacob Oram is back. Ronnie hira takes Vetori's place.
No Dwayne Bravo for West Indies his brother comes in to replace him. Samuel Badree is also getting a game.

Here's Cricinfo's summary of the qualifying scenarios:
http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-world-twenty20-2012/content/current/story/584949.html
No Vettori hurts us. But at least chasing means we know what we need to do (a win in the 19th over would be nice, and basically force England into must-win territory)
C'mon Sri Lanka!

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
West Indies have been too dependent on Chris Gayle and New Zealand on Brendon McCullum. Both can take a game away from the opposition, a head to head would be interesting. But the others need to really step up at some point in the tournament if they have to go further.

Charles and Russell gone. Gayle on fire again. 36/2 from 4 overs.
Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
Gayle inflicted some damage, 30 of 14 balls, but WI needed a few more from the big man. 3 down for 61, New Zealand in charge.

The West Indies running between the wicket isn't the greatest. Not running the first hard and never converting the half run to an additional one. More importantly they are even missing on available 2nd runs as well with poor running.

Samuels has thrown it away. West Indies in trouble now at 88-4 after 11 overs. Pollard has been one of the highe profile filures of the tournament so far and they don't have too much batting left.
