Gayle played only 18 of the 60 balls.

Hussey bowling darts. Fine as long as you don't get the length even fractionally wrong. Poor from Wade, 4 byes.

Yes West Indies struggle to rotate the strike.

Not enough singles from Bravo, but WI are going along nicely. 91-2 after 12. They just have to remain sensible.

The regular flow of boundaries helping the WI maintain a decent runout. But the number of boundaries they manage, they should be able to get a few more runs.

Gayle is such a selfish cricketer sometimes, runs his own runs harder than his partners.
Making up for it though with a brutal demolition of Hussey.
Australia's lack of spinners coming back to bite them.

How did he get the last ball for four?

Wicket at last. Bravo gone but Gayle still there and things not looking good for Australia.
Pollard not exactly a slow scorer by nature so a big score looms...
Bailey didn't half juggle that catch

Bravo hits the most outrageous 6 (these bats eh?) but then gone next ball. Cummins doing a good job, but still one over of spin which could be harmful.

The stage is set for the WI middle order hitters, but will they mess it all up as they have been doing in this tournament so often?

Ludicrously poor running. If Australia win and it's tight the West Indies should regret their running between the wickets. This would be poor from an U12 side.

And sloppy from Australia in the field. Hussey's miss, a few byes, some fumbles. Not what you're used to. Gayle's batting aside this has been a poor match thus far.

And now poor field placing costs Australia the wicket of Gayle.
Gayle's obviously done some mischief and can't run anymore. Will he be able to field? West Indies may miss his bowling if not...

Perfectly placed shot from Pollard to finish that over with a boundary...
This could be close to 200 unless Starc can hold them this over

Hmmm, do you think Australia will petition the MCC to implement a 3lb weight limit on bats?
Actually, maybe that's not a silly idea. Getting a six off a mis-hit rather cheapens the good shots IMO.

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
Australia going to have to bat well.
Gayle's performance aside this is some of the worse cricket I've seen all tournament. Sorry if that offends Hibbz but I only call it as I see it. The bowling has, with the exception of Cummins been in the slot. The batting, with the exception of Gayle been swing with your eyes shut and hope. The running has been awful, and the fielding shockingly bad. The captaincy has been nonsensical on the whole.

205!!. Fine, fine batting performance from the WI!. The 2 Ws, one of the at least have to play most of the overs if Australia have to win this.

I did think Sri Lanka would win the tournament but if WI can keep this level of batting performance up then it's anyone's game.

As the guy on Cricinfo observed perceptively: "Doherty to bowl the last over. Something tells me this is a huge mistake"

Absolute carnage there. Slim chance of getting anywhere near that score unless we can manage about 15+ sixes. Good luck boys.

You obviously take T20 far more seriously than I ever can. Glorified rounders in my mind but that was pretty good fun to watch.

205.
I know West Indies bowling is a bit ordinary , but I think this is surely beyond Australia. Who certainly didn't bowl well , and whose fielding was well down on their normal standard.
Gayle and Pollard finished that off quite ruthlessly.
Watson will need to exceed even his best efforts of this tournament ... I really think they have virtually no hope of chasing this down.
Although I remember once assuming a certain ODI score was impregnable against South Africa...

In an IPL match, DD chased over 190 in 16 overs. David Warner scored 116 of 50 odd balls.

Re: T20 World Cup: Live Matches Discussion
Wow!!!
Hats off to Gayle and Pollard. Gayle actually faced only 41 ball - less than 7 overs.
Thought at the time that Doherty shouldn't have been trusted / lumbered with the last over. A mistake as well in my view to give Hussey a second over - his first over of 0-5 flattered him as it also contained a dreadful full toss which went for 4 byes. Hogg looked pretty good and should have bowled a full four overs.
West Indies now need just a bit of what they don't normally do - sensible cricket ....

It started as a trickle and got progressively worse. The bowlers lost some shape in those last 5 or so overs (i.e. absolutely rattled), Doherty a disaster and Hussey was woefully positioned to stop those stoppable (at least one of them) boundaries.
The fielding got about as bad as it can get - not counting all those ones that almost went into the next postcode.
Brilliant batting from Gayle, Bravo and KP(2) at the end there too.

Can't disagree with that.
Australia will be very disappointed with their bowling (Cummins the notable exception, although Starc bowled some good stuff as well, but in the slot at the end; the rest got their lengths wrong entirely), fielding (Wade and Hussey the main culprits) and tactics (Doherty last over? Really? no deep mid-wicket to Gayle when Cummins bowling back of a length slower balls? Where was the short ball to Pollard?).
West Indies will be pleased with Gayle (obviously) and Pollard who tonked it. They should be concerned about the rest who played out far too many dot balls looking for big shots, and some of the running (with the caveat that Gayle was struggling). I doubt they will be though.

As a chase, Australia should aim for 100/1 (at most) off 12. From then on it's just about on.

Not a first actually. At the risk of sounding desperately sad Hick was clean bowled by Jayasuriya in I think 98 and it also went to the 3rd umpire...

Yes , not literally a first then
Rare , though.
I have actually had to adjudicate -three times as I recall- when umpiring , on "disputed" bowled dismissals...would have certainly liked to have had the TV eye available .
