Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Of course there are shades of grey but ultimately nobody can be sent to jail for saying they would like to kiddy fiddle but won't as it's illegal and cannot include consent by definition.
They go to jail when they break the law by looking at images or worse acts. So what do you do, change the laws ? Having an open debate won't change the laws, it will still come down to the same thing.
So whether they are deemed evil by society or not is ultimately fairly irrelevant as far as I can see. The end game remains the same.

Succinctly put. I tend to agree I guess but I can't help wondering if some end up in clink (and worse) when there's not a lot they can do about it.

Isn't there a bit of a history of DJ's doing things with young boys and girls that society would prefer they didn't?
Sure it wouldn't be too difficult to come up with a handful, especially if Jonathan King - who used to have a radio show - was included.

What is interesting is that it seems a lot of child abusers were themselves abused as children. Strange in some ways and yet sort of makes sense that it may become normalised ?
Have to say anyone in a position of authority like a teacher or carer or a priest who abuses that position to prey on children deserve all they get. To abuse a position of trust systematically is disgusting and when you get the cover ups from say the catholic church that makes me very angry indeed.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I had a shocker a few years ago, a guy I used to work with, really good at his job, seemed like a pretty straight enough guy, infact he used to tut tut at the rest of us for ogling call centre hotties in the canteen.
One morning his resignation was on the Senior Managers desk along with a written handover of his current work and company mobile phone. Later that day the local evening paper came out and he was front page news, part of a kiddie porn photos ring. All of us were completely and utterly gobsmacked, he really would have been one of the last people you'd imagine would be like that.

The fist few words of your last post are not what I wanted to read from someone in the context of this thread,
"I had a shocker a few years ago"
I was thinking maybe "a shocker" would have been an understatement.

I think he wants you to be more shocked than you were . Which kinda doesnt really make sense to me. You dont need to explain the extent of your concern, I think we can imagine!!

I read some press on this today, it would seem that Saville if nothing else was a deeply unpleasant man who thought an awful lot of himself.
Seems like the BBC are now coming under a lot of pressure to spill the beans on what they know but lawyers are getting involved all over the place.

I was joking.
What I meant was that the first thought when I read the first few words of your post was that you were about to admit to having committed a jimmy saville. By describing it as "had a shocker". And yes taking the pith, of course.

I'm glad to see we're in blue; traditionally the Dems biggest margin of victory (sometimes Hawaii squeaks ahead) and the first to confirm the State had gone to Barack in 2008.

Brendan - that's the one. Yeah, he seems pretty good it has to be said. Thought the birthday guy was quite a laugh with his 'derelict' barn gingerbread construction yesterday .
Mysti
Yeah, I'm not sure I go for that all aggression sort of chefing. Can't stand Ramsay for all he's a great cook.

I love all cooking shows- My fav is Mr Jamie Oliver, But i prefer Ramseys restuarants. But then I also do love Jamies chain italians as well.

I dont mind cooking shows but only really addicted to Bake Off. I think Ramsey would be in my first 5 against the wall to be shot list, utter and copmplete tool. Think my favourite is Hugh Thingimy Whatshischops, a guy who seems utterly unaffected by fame and genuinely seems to just do what he does for the love of it.
My main TV addiction is property programs, Escape to the Country, Location, love them all.

Hugh is class- not the best chef in a cheffy style. But a lovely lad and loves the local produce. My dream is to get away from the rat race- get a kinda farm and live the way he seems to!

I also like a property show, especially ones with Kirsty allsop. She is hot and seems like a real laugh. Although it is a shame she seems a little on the right with her politics.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
He's not the best chef for sure though think he trained at River Cottage so no mug. But these are cooking programs, you dont really need to be shown by a michelin star chef how to cook good food but its very nice when they make it for you.
Best meal I ever had was at a Marco Pierre White restaurant when he still actually cooked in them, was Harveys on Wandsworth Common which is now Chez Bruce and still very good, shame I was so young and unappreciative, got hammered on 100 quid bottles of wine which again I didnt appreciate. This is what happens when the boss pays.
I did really like The Restaurant, the Raymond Blanc one where couples had to try and make a go of a palce and the winner won it. Not sure ift hey are doing it anymore but was good TV.

Mac, she is. Never actually got the chance to meet her but my daughter and former son in law's house got a BBC makeover about 4 years ago (forget the name of the program but basically Kirsty and her team came in, gutted and revamped the house to try and make it sellable. The house was in such a state it was embarrassing really but the funniest part (not screened) was when Kirsty found my ex son in laws Porn stash :-/

Sounds interesting.
Anyway, does anyone actually buy porn magazines anymore?
Surely the internet has all you could ever need for free. Unless you like some really freaky specialist stuff, but even then you could just buy it on the net.

I can assure you Mac it's not.
With regard to Porn, yes you're right, I would imagine all the top shelf mags have seen a dramatic drop off in sales in recent years. Porn basically fuelled the growth of the Internet. The sheer amount and variety now freely available is staggering...not that I'd look at any of it of course :-/

Hell no .Only went out with her a couple of times I am reliably assured.
Missing minor though hadnt been home for a couple of days so his name was obviously mentioned. The police went to the club where he was playing snooker to question him .They always take this type of stuff seriously.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic there navy but the victims seemed very genuine aswell. And it wasn't Martin Bashir type trash, the guy who presented the show used to work for the police and was quite balanced in his presentation. Looks like mysti was right!

True.Quite a bit of it about sadly.Church ministers,schoolteachers,scoutmaster
(not all of course)but generally people in a position of trust.Interesting that years ago organisations like the scouts would gladly accept help from parents and relatives. Now that would involve training course, records checks etc.same with being a school governer so some progress has been made shame its neccesary.
