number of club caps in a player\'s carear
What is the Club comparison to 100 international caps
How do people rate those who have played alot of games for their club. Would you say 200 (about seven year) or is it more.
People like Murphy who has been with tigers since he was seventeen and misses very little must have racked up a massive amount. 304caps
Martin Johson 362caps
Can find french players caps
source wiki
What do you consider a number worthy of recognition like the 100 is for international
HC most games = 105 Ronan O gara
can't find most club apperances by a player. If people can give me player capps i'll update this
Name, club, inter
1. Richy Baxter 411
2. Martin Johnson 362, 92
3. Simon Shaw 306, 73
4.Geordan Murphy 304, 77 (still playing)

Is 300 the magic number.

Re: What is the Club comparison to 100 international caps
I take the average number of International games played in a year, and average number of club games in a year, and work it out that way
say if 10 international games and 30 club games are averages, it would be 3 times as many club games. so 300

I don't think you can compare the two.
You can get a guy that is a good journeyman and sticks to a club or province for his whole career and racks up plenty of games, even if he makes 300 games, how do you compare that if a guy has been the best in his country for 100 tests?
Take Matfield as an example, 110 tests, how are you going to compare any club player to that?

Kingshu..
I'm not sure I necessarily agree with that.
A club career is potentially longer than an international one.
i.e a player is likely to feature for his club for a few years before featuring for the national side
similarly, that same player is likely to play for at year or 2 for his club after he no longer is selected for the national side.
I don't know who has the most caps in club rugby, but Simon Shaw has 306 for Wasps (according to wikipedia)
So even though I don't necessary agree with your logic, 300 does seem like a fair figure.

Re: What is the Club comparison to 100 international caps
what about the poeople that just weren't good enough or let go.
Dougy from what I can see has got 292 caps at club but was let go by NZ or same goes for Isa.
Also you have people who never quiet make the international level but are almost there their whole carear.
but When you look at Johnson and Sevart would probably be the same they have a massive club and international caps.

Re: What is the Club comparison to 100 international caps
Biltong has a point.
Richard Birkett has over 200 caps for Wasps (again, using Wiki as the oracle), however none for England.
He is a club legend, so I suppose that is what we're trying to determine here.
However a journeyman may rack up as many caps across various different clubs, but potentially won't be regarded as a legend anywhere.
