V2 WWC 2012 Round 1 Group 5
Yesterdays group was another battle for second place as group winner d.bryan had notched up 12 votes before 9am going on to amass 35 votes by the close of play. 5th seed Finlay was a surprise contender to make round 2 but after wining 8 votes he's made it through alongside Cody Rhodes who both finished level on points, Rhodes came from 5 votes behind to claim a place in round two. Yesterday was our biggest winning margin so far and the most voted on group so far with a total 58 votes!
Next up is group 5
Please vote for the wrestler you believe has generated the best work in the last 12 months

Re: V2 WWC 2012 Round 1 Group 5
Magnus for me, he has improved no end over the past 12 months and is on the edge of a huge push
Re: V2 WWC 2012 Round 1 Group 5
Kane. Has been brilliant with D.Bry in their tag team but also before that, showing himself to be a comedy monster, his tryst with AJ and the fact that in the blink of an eye, he can go back to being the big red machine. Not a lot of wrestlers can perfect going from funny to serious to funny like Kane can.
As for the rest, Magnus has had a decent TNA run but I don't feel he's at that level yet, Rhino's been Rhino, Cena's been Cena.
Weirdly if this was 3-4 months ago, Brodus Clay would get more votes but the Funkasaurus died a horrible death lately, and Tyson Kidd gets credit for some very good matches either on NXT or Superstars, but again he's not at that level yet.

I've gone for John Cena.
Excellent work this year, some brilliant promos, and two awesome feuds with CM Punk and Kane (though the Kane one ended so rubbishly - not his fault). And for me, he trounced The Rock in the promo stakes for Wrestlemania last year. The fact he has risen to a level where he can compete with CM Punk, for such a sustained period, is a mark of how much this all still means to him - and he's by no means sitting back on his laurels and coasting as the dollars roll in.
Not to mention that he carried that feud with The Rock, on his own, for a whole year. He deserves credit by the shovel load for his effort in 2011-2012.
And, with perhaps the exception of Daniel Bryan, he still provokes the greatest response from the WWE Universe, even if it is so mixed.
And he's wearing a t-shirt made of Cancer.
And he snogged Eve

I went for Cena based on the poo face he pulled after Zack Ryder was carted away in an ambulance. Cannot say how much I laughed.

Maths prefers Cena too.
He's 3 - 3 with Magnus, yet has 19% compared to Magnus' 18%

I went for Kane as he has yet again made himself relevant. Brilliant with D Bry and kept Cena busy until Mania, even if the match itself was a shocking main event (not there fault)
Cena's match with Lesnar was great but Kane nudges it for me.

Cena because he has had a great year facing some of the best wrestlers of all time like the Rock, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, The big show and of course John Laurinitis.
He was on form in the build up to wrestlemania and he has been working very hard eventhough he should have been given a break after the brock lesnar fight.

I have to agree, the feud with Kane had great potential but ended poorly, the segment with Piper, the brawl with brock at raw after mania and the ppv fight, winning MTIB, carrying the rock feud almost single handily for a year and being involved in what was an epic match with the great one which managed to produce that very rare feeling these days of a real big right atmosphere.
Of course jumping john is half cringe half superman but looking at this objectively he has had a great year!

Also if you think about it Kane has only had a good 10 months of action, he was out between September and November so he could find his "inner self" again. He has had a good fued with Cena, Orton, Punk, Bryan and even Ryder but I would still say Cena has been better throughout the last 12 months

Bringing back the mask has revived/regenerated his career again, because otherwise I think he would be stagnating this year if not.

I'd still argue Kane's last 10 months > Cena's last 12 months. But that's my personal opinion.

Tough choice between Kane and Cena for me. I might wait this one out and vote tactically later on if need be.
I'm not a huge fan of either wrestler but I think it'd be hard to argue against them both having good years.
Although by the looks of the votes so far these two should walk it anyway.

Re: V2 WWC 2012 Round 1 Group 5
anyone who voted for john cena should cast their minds back to that awful show opening promo a few weeks back, the one after he had missed a week through injury.. that for me really undermined the good work he did this year.
i voted for brodus because funk was on a roll. its not at the minute but it will be again...possibly... and the fact that he sort of managed to get that gimmick over deserves credit, wasn't that gimmick given to him as a punishment?? thats my opinion anyway, so don't push me...
i may not know art, but i know what i like...

KANE for me, he's had a beast of a year!!!
Is it just me or is it harder to pick just one from each group this year?

Re: V2 WWC 2012 Round 1 Group 5
For those interested in stats:
last year John Cena narrowly won his group with 17 votes ahead of second place Sheamus who notched 16
Kane finished second in his group last year, beaten to the top spot by Kurt Angle, however the big red machine did out score both Wade Barrett and Colt Cabana on his way to the second round in 2011 in a very strong group
So Kane's 606v2 stock seems to have risen in the last 12 months, currently 4 votes ahead of the companies number 1 guy!

Re: V2 WWC 2012 Round 1 Group 5
I'm not a big fan of Cena at all but he's someone I tend always be interested in even if it's just to find faults (which there is plenty of)
I always end up disappointed by the time a Cena feud ends, I think that's where the negativity springs from.
I thought his feud with Kane started with a bang, due to Jumpin' John's strength of character though it didn't allow Cena to be corrupted which would have made the feud far better and due to the timing of it they had to end it abruptly
I don't buy all this "Cena carried the Rock feud on his own", the only time Cena was interesting in 2011 was when he was talking about The Rock (apart from his performance at MitB-2011) so far from carrying the feud, he was using The Rock's name to keep him #1 ahead of the World Champ, the only time the feud actually carried along was when Rock was involved, usually in response to a Rock promo, still, I do think he done well, I just done believe he carried it, I thought he took his medicine well though, Rock was clearly presented as the better man
I felt the Cena/Lesnar feud could have been better too, again it started with a bang and the match itself was good but it was all a bit rushed, I do understand it though to be fair, they had to get Cena a massive scalp to make up for his big loss at WrestleMania but you just felt that Lesnar's first match in 8 years would have had more than a 3 week build up, still it was a big match which he won.
I didn't like the fact he was entered into a feud with Johnny Ace, for me this was CM Punk's feud, like Nash before him though Punk didn't get the opportunity to put an end to the Johnny Ace corruption, it had to be Jumpin' John, again though, looking at it objectively, the WWE Champ should have a feud over the title so that leaves someone like Ace for another top face, so while I didn't like it, I could see why they went that route.
I thought he did well MitB but with the guys he shared that match with it really was down to him, he worked a good match although the outcome was predictable, having said that, no-one else in the match probably deserved it and since he'd never won it before it was at least something fresh.
The feud with CM Punk was great, again though your left with feeling it could have been better, mainly due to the fact that Cena must always be protected, fans like wrestlers they can identify with, losing isn't always a bad thing, for Cena to lose their doesn't have to be some major miscarriage of justice, again it felt like it could have ended so much better than it did, even with his injury I doubt Punk would have managed a comprehensive victory.
I do think Cena deserves to go through, I just don't think I can vote for him because I genuinely don't like his character

Kane for me for the same reasons as Bryan yesterday. Started this year well as a monster and the gradual change to add in a bit of comedy with the AJ angle was great, team Hell No have been a breath of fresh air for the last couple of months (until we all inevitably get fed up with them being so predictable and unfunny in a couple of months!)

If this group gets as many votes as yesterday (58) it could still be all to play for!

I went for Kane, I think his ability is continually understated and his character one of the best in the business.
Cena annoys the crap out of me.
I'd hope Magnus and Kidd figure more prominently in this competition next year. Magnus has not been used enough by TNA, but he was brilliant against Joe at BFG. Equally, WWE don't do enough with Kidd, but both are young and showing great potential.

As much as i dislike the bloke
I've gone for John Cena.
Fantastic start to the year with an interesting feud with Kane. Sadly the feud end diddnt get the heel turn that we were all expecting instead we got an Eve Torres heel turn and the same old annoying Cena. However then the serious build up to his match at Mania got going and a lot of people started to actually prefer Cena. A world class match as expected at Mania and the ending got me screaming like a little girl when the rock won. The night after Wrestle Mania was IMO the best Raw in living memory. Cena played his part well. Continue to play his part well in a good feud with Lesnar. His match against Lesnar at Extreme Rules was epic.
Enjoying his role atm in the CM Punk feud. So my vote goes for Cena.

Group 5 has ended and the devils favourite demon, the big red machine, Kane has impressively topped this group ahead of John cena who also makes round two in second place.
