The Dew Drop Inn Virtual La Botticella Pub, Rome.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to the historical city of Rome, the owner Giiovanni, is a Canadian-Italian, and welcomes all after a great day of rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Dane Coles, Aaron Jarvis, Samson Lee and Schalk Brits up on the wall. Erm, actually there is a second rule. No elephants, unless they're Effervescing - we can't be barring a Chiefs fan

Evening fellas, .
Take out the commercial "car exhibition" and that looks like how things used to be 20 years ago, tents, fast fresh food, beer and general bon homme!
Fantastic mein lieber Hund, thanks for sharing that.

I'm going to make a pretty big announcement tonight.
I feel the need to be honest with all the regs in the pub, it's the least you all deserve, you've all become quite special people in my life and it's time I stopped hiding the truth and came clean.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual La Botticella Pub, Rome.
You like nature Swanny?
Just looking at the weather map in Oz. Most of it is orange/red 30-35+ degrees (about 90% of the continent) and there's a thin strip of light green/yellow down the east coast and Tassie.
My thermometer, which faces due east into the sunrise said 31 deg at 7 am but now at around 8:30am the official 'tv' temp is 18.3.
It's absolutely gorgeous outside. Don't feel like wearing too many clothes.
I saw another dead wallaby on the other side of the road on the way to my 'bare foot' accountant yesterday. I drove by the turn off to Skippy Park (off Mona Vale Road) in the Ku-ring-gai National Park and then down this spectacular incline which 'tumbles' down to the coast - hence the name: Tumble Down Dick.
Just before TDD there is this great stretch of road - market gardens, tree nurseries, horse studs, palm groves and fancy ranch style homes tucked away out of sight from the road. It felt like a cross between Hawaii and southern California.
The views of the ocean are magic. The place ain't too shabby at all. I only spent about 20 mins with the accountant - cool dude and he has his head around the tax game. Nice Irish and N. English associates there to greet me. (you all fit in perfectly here!)
Summer Bay is only about 10 mins drive away from there. Had to turn around and go back up TDD again though!
Here it's all cricket now. Saffas arrived, Philander clutching his shoulder... mind games or what? I'm going to the Australia A 3-day warm up match on Friday. Some talk of rugby but not too intense at all. They know it will be a tough task to win all 4 matches and the mood in the squad is a lot better than it was after the RWC with one or two players back from injury..... finally.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual La Botticella Pub, Rome.
Dear pub,
Some of you will know I've been in a loving and monogamous relationship for many, many, years. This relationship has given me so much happiness and inspiration over the years that it is hard to believe what I'm writing, but, as so often happens when things become over-familiar, the relationship has become stagnant and, being blunt about it, just hasn't satisfied my needs for some time.
It's not something to be proud of, it's not something that can be excused or apologised for with any expectation of forgiveness, it's not anything apart from how it is.
When a relationship becomes stale, and fails to provide the stimulation an individual with passion, love, faith, hopes and aspirations craves, it's time to bite the bullet and come clean with everyone concerned.
My head has recently been turned by a third party known to all of you, her exotic charms and promise of fun and adventure have captured my own sense of adventure and daring-do to the extent that my faithfulness has been compromised.
I've confessed everything to the wife, dealt with all the difficult questions, the tears, the accusations...
And, well, it's time you all knew the truth too...
I should add at this point that my "wee bit on the side" is for selected weekends only, and in no way compromises my one true love of de mighty Barf.
Tanks pub.

Brave announcement PJ.
There's no need to feel 'unfaithful' to Barf or anything. They'll always be a part of you I'm sure.
It's just that the Poisson Pull is taking full effect. It's a very powerful force and not much can be done about it.
First it roped in Glas, then Kiwi, Biltong.... even I now have the desire to support their endeavours to the very last stand. It's the rise in confidence and consistent performances which sound most appealing to me. They are quite hard to resist (judging from reports on here) even though I've only watched about 15 mins of highlights of them play in the last couple of seasons.

Yes it was, and they were brilliant hosts.
While the HC is where the real glory is, the best rugby weekends away I have had have been in the Amlin CC.
Wasps fans bought Mogliano shirts, scarves, hats, and anything else, as a memento of the trip (shirt and baseball cap for me). All around the ground Wasps fans were sporting black and gold plus Mogliano gear. Every Wasp I know will contribute to the finances of clubs like Mogliano, aside from the usual eating and drinking.
The team loved it all too, and skipper Shug (Hugo Southwell) made a point of shaking the hand of every Wasps fan in that beer tent before the team departed on their coach.
It was just an extremely pleasant weekend.

Prop, give it up bud, it's becoming unseemly now.
Ulster have verve, panache, guile, power and are as smooth as a slinky mink in sheer silk mittens.
Glaws have a shed and a bunch of sweaty farmers.
It's like comparing chalk with ferret poo, to be fair.
Rev, come on with ye. Man or mouse? Breaker, Kiwi, Hound, you're all reaching out.
Yous can all deny it, pretend you can look without thinking of touching, give it the big old "I'm not bothered, I'm so happy in my relationship I could sh!t roses." But let me tell you, that's exactly how I felt just 6 months ago. Now look at me. I'm looking at you lot and seeing the same story, the same washed out expressions that tell a different story, a story of mediocre rugby, consistent under-achievement, or worse, Amlin Cup rugby...
Come on, take the first step with me today.

Hark at the Reverend Penfro! Denial is the first hurdle of acceptance, you know.
Gibbo likes to put out an image with his chinos, goatskin loafers and Alpaca cardie, but the truth will out, and he will be unmasked as a disciple of the one true province.
Sure, he's just a bullshiner.

In truth PJ I don't think Penfro has ever forgiven us for having to postpone a game a couple of seasons ago when the ground was harder than a very hard thing and the roads were closed.
That and the fact that MrsPenfro is a Turk and that would definately NOT be a happy household if he "turned"!
He may be one who can never quite publicly accept his feelings for Ulster. But, we know where his heart really lies!

G'night big lad, mind the Ulster bugs don't bite.
Sure MrsP, Penfro knows it himself alright, and it's not as if he's kidding us.
Wasn't it less than 6 months after the "Never. Never. Never." That the other Reverend let the scales fall from his eyes and came around to the "well now I'm actually looking at it, it's the future." point of view?
Penfro, I admire ye stance your Royal Eminence, The Emperor of Sarries, but it's not a sustainable position.
You know that squirrel that keeps casing out your patio and French windows? Mwahahahahahahaha!
Resistance is futile...

Bonjour
I am more tired than a tired thing who's not slept for a week today. Going to need gallons of tea to get me through the mountain of paperwork I have to do today.
Hope everyone is well this Wednesday morning.

Bore da pawb / good morning all, here's a for starters, Ozzy!
Biltong, if you weren't tired, you probably did the right thing by staying up, rather than going to bed and just lying there wide awake. They recommend that if people can't sleep, they get up and go downstairs until they're tired again - it's about keeping the bed associated only with sleep. And the old in-out, in-out, of course.

Somehow that doesn't comfort me, knowing I did the right thing by doing the wrong thing.

Jeez MrsP - fixed that for you. How long you been on these boards
Anyway, Sarries are my 1st love The Ospreys give me but what can you do ? I suppose I could have a go and take the 'Lurker Path' through it all. Every week 50% of your teams win, but the flip-side is 50% of your teams lose
