The Dew Drop Inn Virtual La Botticella Pub, Rome.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to the historical city of Rome, the owner Giiovanni, is a Canadian-Italian, and welcomes all after a great day of rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Dane Coles, Aaron Jarvis, Samson Lee and Schalk Brits up on the wall. Erm, actually there is a second rule. No elephants, unless they're Effervescing - we can't be barring a Chiefs fan

Apparently Dan Lydiate is off to Racing Metro. Pre-contract signed. Not sure how concrete that is though. I thought he'd stay in Wales, but who knows.

Nice to see Roger Wilson back at Ravenhill.
Got MOTM, although I would probably have given it to Payne.
In the interview the guy asks him if he thinks Ulster are close to clicking!!!

He does, but I think unless Scarlets or Ospreys want him, there's nothing here for him now. Blues and Dragons have been pretty toilet this season. His family can look after the farm.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual La Botticella Pub, Rome.
Maybe the Scarlets or the O's will put in a bid. Unless he needs the money of course, they can't compete with French wages. Or the weather.

And Our Dreamer said it was a fallacy when I said it a year ago. The Welsh -> Franco Exodus. Its getting more real by the day.
It will hit Ireland too soon. Its all just a matter of time.
They have a short and relatively sporting financial, unrewarding, shelf-life, do Pro RU players. And what would you do in that situation ? I'd put my Family and its financial future, way before any concept of Country or Province any day.

Shane Williams was shrewd. Made a good career in Wales, and now he's got a tidy nest egg going in Japan. Wages are very good down there too apparently.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual La Botticella Pub, Rome.
I didn't see the Munster match but as I have been WUMming with Sin all week I'm going to say they were crap and that ROG was terrible. Also that whoever played 13 is much better than Earls. I'd ask for confirmation but I don't care as that is the new party line we are going for- you hear that Rodders?
How was the match though? The score suggests a major improvement from the Blues.
Also Ulster fans, did you see Deccies interview at half time? God I can't wait till we get rid of him. As usual Humphreys came off well when he spoke. Clear concise, no BS. We could do with someone like that.

But the Irish players are better of financially staying in Ireland and getting their tax rebate, why would they go abroad and play more games, have shorter careers and jeopardize their international chances?

'Awk well yoknow, we don't box ourselves in picking on form, we might pick some combos'. I think that's code for POM, McFadden and D'Arcy starting. I might not even bother my arse watching the autumn internationals if truth be told. My wife wants me to paint the bathroom. I'd rather do that, as in literally watching paint dry is more fun.

I don't blame him. Lydiate's stock is really high at the minute too, so he needs to take advantage of it. Set himself, his family and the farm up for a long time.

Deccie was grand for Ulster, from an Ireland prospective. He politically over-compensated continuously during his reign. I mean Paddy Bloody Wallace & Tom Court forfeicsake. We just need to get rid of the PC Ulster player selection scenario. And move on to a true meritocracy. If I'm honest. He is also picking below-standard Munster mullackers too. Its not just ye lot, in all fairness.
The new Coach wont be so lenient. Bring back Eddie!

I think you are confused Gibbo bless you. Those were the old days. Now I'm afraid to say Leinster are the new Munster, Ulster the new Leinster and Munster the new Ulster. Connacht are just Connacht bless their cotton socks.
By that I mean Deccie has to pick some Munster players in the team to be PC. Like POC. None of the rest of them would get in the side the poor fellas. It'd just be Leinster and Ulster. Sure that would suit us fine- West Brits and actual Brits together. It's like good old British rule all over again. God save the Queen!

In all Truth, its getting that way.
I wonder if Munster would mind moving over and let Ulster in for a 50,000 capacity PRO12 game in April. As our annual pre-HC sparring partners to get us warmed-up like?
At least then, ye lot would know ye had truly arrived.
I think ye are starting to earn that right. It has to be said.
