The biggest stinker in Boxing vs A faded has-been.............What would be the point!!!........

Then again what is the point of Hatton's comeback anyway???....let's be honest... it's a rash decision.. not thought through.. because he's had his promotional business basically stripped from him and he's feeling unimportant!!!

When a guy say's " If he gets knocked out his comeback would've been a success".. you have to question the wisdom behind it!! especially when his Dad thinks he can take him in a car park!! Cool

For me he's coming back for all the wrong reasons and he's wasting his time on the useless primetime anyway!!

More people will see meg Ryan naked than watch him on there...

There is nothing for you Ricky time to bow out!!........

You can always tell a weak main event by the undercard.....

His undercard is excellent.........

I agree Truss, don't believe he has found the hunger all of a sudden after 3 years. Hope I'm wrong, hope he wins and bows out on a win. As you said absolutely no point in Mallignaggi rematch proves nothing to me, a guy who never beats anyone remotely at the higher level.

Malinaggi has a belt so if he beats him then hatton will be a world title holder again. Nothing wrong with that.

Always thought his comeback has disaster written all over it. There is absolutely nothing about Hatton's boxing style that will age well. Add to this he is hardly a gym rat outside of the ring and he was never good at Welterweight where he couldn't bully people the same as at Light Welter and I think he comes unstuck........ Although maybe not against Senchenko as he is guff.

I'd rather let Jeff Capes repeatedly hammer my love spuds with a steak tenderiser whilst Piers Morgan sits in the corner endlessly reciting Gordy's articles than watch Hatton v Malignaagi II.

Ricky will beat Senchenko, but if he starts to step up the ladder of quality he will come unstuck. He was never the quickest but I expect him to be painfully slow after 3 years out. He showed little punch resistance against Manny and I don't expect that to have improved with 2.5 years of beer & bugle under his belt.

It's obvious he's returned to boost Hatton Promotions and his own ego, it's certainly not for the money. No doubt this is all building up to a big money spinning showdown with Khan, but I think even that will be a bridge too far for Hatton as he never coped well with speed (Khans main asset) and at 147 didn't carry the power to make the most of Khans biggest flaw. I would see Amir knocking Ricky out at this stage of their respective careers.

while come backs don't usually end as the fighters dream they will, its boxing and if boxers did not take challenges then it would be a boring sport.

I think your views on Paulie are a little Harsh, Yes he is not the cream of the crop but to be fair apart from when he was robbed by Diaz he has only ever been beaten by world class fighters which makes him a very good gate keeper for those who want to be world class, and he only falls short down to his lack of power... If Ricky is not back to his best he may struggle against Paulie.

But if you are out of the ring for 3 years and having been so heavy, of course Ricky is not going to jump in with Manny or Cotto at el..
that would be foolish.

I think how he has come back is the right way to do it, by taking on very competitive fighters all be it not the best out there. If he manages to deal with them in an impressive way then he will have proved he may be capable of taking on harder fights while also having shaking off the rob webs that will no doubt be there.

I think his current fight, and then a fight with Paulie is a very good little plan to get him back on the scene, and to see if he is capable of getting back to form to have a crack at someone like Khan, Garcia so on..

I find it a sorry state of affairs for the sport of boxing that someone can take 3 years out then come back and have a shot at being a World Champ after 2 fights.

I think Paulie will be a different proposition at 147 than he was when they first met in 08 at 140 but let's not overlook Senchenko just yet.

Disappointing to see the prematurity of the conclusions people are drawing on Hatton already. And the assumptions.

Frankly how can you immediately write off this comeback as a rash decision? It's been three years, not a couple of days since he bowed out the first time. If anything Mayweather, the man who beat him, has made rash decisions aplenty with his "I'm retired, wait now I'm back, now I'm out again, now I'm in prison" attitude, yet I don't see you turning your critical eye on him.

You seem to think that there's no possibility whatsoever that he's been contemplating it long and hard over that time, that he's reached the decision that he's happy with. What reason have you to think that? For all of Hatton's flaws, there's always the chance that maybe, just maybe, he's changed his ways over those three years and is approaching things more professionally now. I'm not even concluding that this is the case, but there is always the chance and therefore it's only fair to allow Hatton to have his say in the ring before deciding.

why would it be a poor fight? paulies a good fighter, who just lacks power- and has earned a portion of the world title and beat a few decent names. hatton was top level, and obviously needs to have something left to get past senkcho.

Lets give Hatton our support eh? Boxing needs more fighters like Ricky Hatton so I am delighted he is making a comeback. If Foreman can make a comeback after 10 years and become heavyweight champion then why cant Hatton make a success of it!?

Gordy,

As always your input is greatly appreciated and warmly welcomed but can you please explain one thing....how does Lennox Lewis fit into this thread?

I only ask becasue as sure as night follows day (or TRUSS follows men into the loo at the Blue Oyster) Lewis always seems to make an appearance irrespective of the subject matter.

Hatton was not a hype job mate. Dont be fooled just because he lost. Froch has lost to fighters far worse than what Hatton lost but people on here think the sun shines out of his backside! Hatton lost to two very good fighters and you could say he was unlucky with the ref against Myweather and not at his best against Pacquiao. I dont think Hatton would beat those two fighters but lets not write him off!

Lewis was a much better fighter than Hatton. Lewis was one of the best of all time which Hatton isnt but he is one of the best British fighters of all time so why are people so negative about him. It seems like people are hoping he will fail. It bugs me because he is a top fighter that lost but look at who is around now. We have have jobs like Froch, Haye, Harrison, Khan, Price none of these guys are as good as Hatton but people cant seem to tell the differance. Hatton lost to two really top fighters unlike those other guys who have lost to far worse.

Hatton gets a rough ride off a lot of boxing fans overhyped, overrated, limited,Ricky must have just got lucky in his first 43 fights on route to becoming a 2 weight world champ.

Haha yes mate you are right! But just dont tell people that Haye lost to one of the worst heavyweights champions in history and Froch has lost to fighters miles worse than Mayweather because then people will think you are crazy!! As long as you say Froch and Haye are the best British fighters of all time and better than Lewis, Calzaghe and Hatton who were overrated then people will think you are an expert!
