Top 6 Predictor Game Empty Top 6 Predictor Game

Post by Henman Bill Fri 23 Nov 2012, 1:11 pm

EDIT: Please note this article was written in November 2012 and is not a new article. See recent comments for updates.

My guess: (for year end 2013).

1 Djokovic
2 Nadal
3 Murray
4 Federer
5 Del Potro
6 Raonic

Could also be Ferrer or Berdych for 6 actually, but I'll go for Raonic.

Put your guesses here. In a year I will put another article highlighting who did well and who did badly. I bet no-one can get 6 spot on. Probably be luckly to have anyone get the top 3-4 in the right order. Good luck.

1 Djokovic
2 Murray/Nadal
3 Nadal/Murray
4 Federer
5 Del Potro
6 Ferrer

2 + 3 all depends on Nadal's injury. If he's fit, he's 2. If he's had to change his style then 3. Federer's probably still going to be miles better than "the rest" so will keep his place in the top 4, but his QF run will come to an end I think. DelPo has a bit of belief now and will definitely be a threat. I reckon he'll be close to Federer but ultimately, over a year, Federer's freaky injury record will keep him ahead by one or two thousand points. Last year that he will be in the top 4? Probably, even he can't go on forever. Daveed has a lot of points to defend next year. It's a toss between him and Berdbrain for 6th. I'll go with Daveed because he's so solid and unflaky.

Thanks people, keep them coming in. The best prediction will be honoured in a year's time, and the worst midly laughed at (even if it's my own).

1) Djokovic
2) Federer
3) Nadal
4) Murray
5) Ferrer
6) JMDP

I think Federer will be at #3 for the majority of the year, but will do his usual act of turning up at the end of the season and rolling in a few points to pip Murray. Nadal to do likewise after Wimbledon, with Murray holding #2 for much of the year but then slipping right at the end. I think he'll perform well across the board this year.

Djok to get 1-2 slams, Fed 1-2, Nadal 1.

Time to view our 2013 predictions. I think my own guess was reasonable:

1 Djokovic
2 Nadal
3 Murray
4 Federer
5 Del Potro
6 Raonic

Djokovic and Nadal ranking order was very close, so I was nearly right there.
Murray at 3 would have been right but for injury.
Federer at 4 reality was 6 but perhaps due to injury.
Del Potro at 5 spot on.
Raonic I just got wrong. Ferrer not in the top 6 just wrong as well.

Nobody with Nadal at no 1. Almost everyone going with Djokovic, which would have been the case had he won the US Open final so wasn't far off. I think in the second half of 2012 I had trouble enough convincing people Nadal would get back to 2. Some people were writing him off entirely. CAS, Julius Marx, IC and Banbro guilty of thinking he wouldn't even be in the top 3.

Honourable mentions for Haddie Nuff, Lydian, Julius, Silver and Yvonne with decent guesses, and several people getting the right 6, albeit in the wrong order. Bit hard to judge whose guess is really the best, but I'll give silver medal to Special Juan for this effort:

1 Djokovic
2 Murray/Nadal
3 Nadal/Murray
4 Federer
5 Del Potro
6 Ferrer

Overall I think Lags had the best prediction:

1 Guesses the correct 6.
2 Everyone is within 1 place of their real position.
3 Djokovic at 1 would have been right, had he won the US Open final, so one match away from correct.
4 Backs Nadal to get into the top 2, unlike many who were writing him off.
5 Murray at 3 would have been correct had it not been for a hard to predict injury.
6 Ferrer at 4 would have been spot on again were it not for the same injury.
7 Federer might well have finished ahead of Del Potro as predicted, were it not for back issues.

Well done Lags. king

Top effort, lags clap

I got the top six, but the order was horrendously wrong. Still, tough season to predict! Cheers HB Smile
