Can we all behave please.
First topic message reminder :
Guys, I understand the Autumn Internationals is a time where emotions can run high and disappointment can often turn into accusations, wums, negative threads etc.
But really the amount of unacceptable vitriol that has been hanging about since last night is immature and pathetic.
I am asking nicely that we start posting threads that can be contributed to in a positive manner, I will be discussing the behaviour of a number of posters with the admins tomorrow, any further continuance of negative vitriol will be punishable by bans, repeat offenders will suffer worse fates.
Thank you for your cooporation in this regard.

I echo fa0019's comments. I find it disappointing that an article based mainly on speculation and generalisation gets promoted as a showpiece of V2 whereas other posts of equally poor taste get locked. I'd love to hear Glas a du say what he wrote to Andrew Hore's face.
If I met Hore I would ask him if his moustache makes him itch.

Re: Can we all behave please.
PJ I don't think it was just the "Men of Honour" article. Which by the way is a wumtastic way to name an article which is about to accuse a team and nation of cowardice and thuggery....
But in general Glas a du was never the most objective poster before becoming a journal writer. As for publishing that article because it courts controversy and will get 606v2 attention - I think that is a terrible approach to any sort of journalism and comes straight from the school of the likes of Stephen Jones and Chris Rattue, the sort of journalists who we all hate on here so much.
That seems to be the school of journalism Glas a du endorses, but I certainly hope that is not the direction which the 606v2 journal will go in - "lets say something because its controversial and will get us attention" - poor show.

Well it is journalism after all Dodger, lets be realistic, you can be as objective as you like but if noone is around to read it it's useless.
It's far more effective to be contraversial with a few key points than fair and unread!

Maybe thats the sort of journalism people who read red tops want. Personally give me fair, balanced, well constructed and articulate arguments anyday. Rather than sensational attacks on a certain rugby nation.

I think the Irish need to a good long, hard look at their own journo's if they feel like criticising the ones on V2.

Biltong, say a poster feels like they are been treated harshly how does one argue his or her case with the MODS

You could quite happily add a couple of Irish journalists to the list of Stephen Jones and Chris Rattue, no doubt and as an Ulster fan I know only too well the sort of garbage they can spew about our team as much as anyone else. But out of interest which ones are you referring to? As you cant have much access to Irish media in Wales, aside from stuff posted online

Re: Can we all behave please.
I haven't been on the boards for some time as some posters just used to get my back up, ruin threads and generally get on my thruppeny bits. Anyway, now that the mods are taking a tougher stand, I will dip my toe back in the water.
Can I suggest that there is a sliding scale of punishment? Say, a 24 hour ban for repeated offences, a week ban for lazy running - oops, I mean lazy posting etc.
I think we all need to cut the mods some slack - would you be willing or able to give up as much of your free time as these guys do?

Going back as far as 2009 where Irish journo's belittle Welsh teams, Welsh towns and a nation. Then after the matches they lose to Welsh teams they lay copious amounts of blame the ref's feet. It's happened every time Ospreys have beaten Leinster and every time Wales have beaten Ireland since 09. So yeah, those are the articles I refer to. I'm sure there are a lot more fair and accurate journo's than these bad eggs.

I don't know then Dodger, I thought it was about that particular article so maybe I've missed something.
I think we have to be realistic here, we all have opinions, it's one of the things that makes us human, the ability to see the same thing but interpret it in different ways is an essential part of our individuality. If all of us were totally and completely 100% objective in our writings or musings we'd be a properly bland lot wouldn't we?
I think there will always be a place for articles that shock and draw debate out into the public domain, but when there is an intention to do exactly that, it does come with a caveat of responsibility, in the Men of Honour article, Glas made it pretty clear early on that it wasn't intended as a "balanced piece" but as a "balancing piece", it actually crosses the line of acceptability to me when the article originator claims it to be incontravertible fact and defends the original stance in the face of every fact presented to the contrary.
Glas edited his article when he realised he'd crossed one particular line, because he has the level of responsibility required to handle that type of opinion piece, others, I'm afraid, do not.

Well done. Biltong. I really appreciate your efforts.
It's a difficult balancing act you guys maintain. The discussion is richer for having a variety of views and topics. The problem is when things get out of hand. We all have our axes to grind. Like all of us, I find some posts painful or offensive. I'd like to say that the forum is richer for posters and if you ban people, it's for the short term rather than permenantly it would be appreciated.

Lordy biys,
I go away for the weekend with only moments to look in here, and it seems we have devolved to some form of intercine warfare. Worst part is I don't get to see any of it (actually I really don't want to).
Its always a fine line with internet chat rooms. Most are far more 'earthy' than this one so we should be pretty happy with how it is managed. Nothing and no one are perfect or completely consistent, but we are generally OK here, methinks. A little flexability, a little consideration and we are fine.
On the other hand, without people writing on the hairy edge, without people winding people up, without sharing their emotions regardless of where that leads, and this is as dry as the Sahara.
Balance, balance, balance.

yeah once I saw the Hore incident I stayed away from the boards as I knew it would erupt and although I dont condone anything like it, theres nothing to discuss that makes it interesting. Hes deserves whatever he gets. Just hope the one he hit is ok- the real victim in all of this.
Anyway, one more round in what I think has been mostly a very lacklustre AIs with not a lot of highlights for so many matches. Some sides really are playing some boring rugby. Not sure why that is.

Couldn't agree more regarding Hore and the AI's. And it's not just the 6N or SA/Aus, even NZ have looked average at times, and sublime others mind!!
A lot of games have been very negative minded, keeping games close and attempting to spoil at every occasion. I just get the feeling with huge injuries across the board a lot of coaches and players are afraid of taking risks, or going out to really play for the fear of losing or losing heavily!!
Infact the only teams that have impressed me are the ones with something to prove, France really like to go for it at times, and Samoa will lie down for noone!!

Re: Can we all behave please.
Reap what you sow.
I understand that being a mod or admin is a difficult task (I am on other forums, so I do know).
But some, not all, mods on this forum have let things go, even contributed vitriolic comments themselves, thereby setting a standard. The hypocrisy of this opening post is beyond belief.
It's almost like some sort of Munchausen syndrome, let the posters misbehave alongside you, so that you can then tell them off and trying to make yourself look good!
I haven't posted here for quite a while for various reasons, one being that the split between decent conversation/posters versus pathetic, childish, petulant, arrogant, ignorant and judgmental attitudes has tipped to an extreme. The condoning and attempted justification of serious violent conduct on field and criminal activity off field leaves me extremely sad, especially coming from a mod.
Should have named this site 606justgotworse.troll.hell
I know I don't have to visit or post, but it's a shame that for all the decent efforts by the majority of the mod/admin team are being undone by the minority of mods/admin and the majority of posters/wums.
Who moderates the moderators?

Can't see what is hypocritical about it, and powercrazed by implication would mean I would make decisions without consultation.
But hey, ho, it's your opinion.

Re: Can we all behave please.
It is my opinion of course.
I see the role of a mod as someone who sets a standard. I believe that some of your comments/posts/opinions as being below standard, judgmental and in some cases obscene (given that this is a family orientated site, where decent posters want to see high standards of conduct both on and off the field, and in society in general), thereby being hypocritical.
It's why I asked the question of who moderates the moderator.

Wow, can you be so kind as to provide examples?
If you are correct and it is deemed below standard, judgemental or obscene I will withdraw my participation from this board.

Biltong - you would be well advised to drop it. Mods do not argue especially over moderation decisions

TJ.. why aren't you a mod... you are showing to much common sense here...
Biltong, I'm not quite sure you'd want me to highlight these in public, the comments are in a thread that has been deleted for very good reasons. I'm fairly sure you know the one I'm talking about.
Anyway, I need to make a move, work in the morning and all that. Will pick this up again tomorrow.
