Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
I can't see him staying beyond this season, thing is though where is he going to fit in at Barcelona? If he can't dislodge Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets from the Spanish national team why would it be any different at Barca?

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
My thoughts exactly Y2, if he moves to Barcelona I just cant see where he would fit in. Fabregas is a class player but he is no where near the standard of Xavi and Iniesta. The way that Barcelona pay is that they have the two playmakers and then some like Busquets, Keita and had Toure to play the role of more holding midfielder and that isn't how Cesc plays.
He has a difficult choice to make.

Yeah I can't see them changing their system just to incorporate Cesc. He's good but he's not that good surely?

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
He is far from being that good. Like you said he can't dislodge Xavi and Iniesta from the Spanish team so what makes the Barcelona team to be any different.
He isn't going to win anything at Arsenal but he doesn't seem to want to play anywhere else other than Barcelona. Do you think he'd consider a move to either of the Milan teams?

I was just thinking that the now mate, if he doesn't go to Barcelona where would he go, and either of the 2 Milan teams are the only ones I can really see him going to.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Like everyone else, I think he'll be gone - BUT I believe he is a smart fellah and I can't believe he hasn't considered this himself.
I don't believe he would leave Arsenal for anyone but Barca - so maybe, just maybe, he'll realize that the time isn't right for that dream move and give the gooners one more chance? Wishful thinking perhaps....

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Maybe if Wenger gives Fabregas reassurances that he will go out and buy some quality players to add to the squad he'll give Arsenal one more season to see how things go.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Thing is Y2, Wenger came out and said that he didn't feel the need to strength his team. Is the guy blind? He is in savage need of decent centre backs and some in the middle of the park that will roll their sleeves up.
I do think that if Fabregas stays he'll want re assurances that Arsenal will be to compete again next season.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Wenger's attitude is the major sticking point Steve. I mean does he genuinely believe that his squad doesn't need a few additions or is he just saying that in the media to make the team feel that they have his absolute confidence?
Fans, pundits and journalists have been saying the same things about Arsenal for years now, they can't all be wrong.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
I'd say it is for his teams confidence, does not seem to have worked after yesterdays defeat to Bolton.
Wenger just seems constantly in denial. His team plays some of the best football in the world which is great but he hasn't produced a trophy winning side since 2005. A couple of good signings and they'd be back to winning ways and no longer the leagues bottlers.

The League Cup Final should have told Wenger everything he needed to know about his current squad.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Wenger is in denial and deserves the sack. The constant it's a young team and we play good football is garbage. In 2008 Man Utd played the best football I've ever seen an English team play and did the double. Real Madrid would be an option for Cesc. They have the cash and can offer him trophies and more starts than Barca.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Wenger's been harping on about it being a young team for years now, so what Arsenal have to wait ANOTHER 5 years for a trophy until the team matures? As for the good football, yes when they're on song they are fantastic to watch but there's no Plan B. Man Utd. not only have a Plan B but Plans C & D as well.
I mean how frickin' annoying is it watching Arsenal trying to walk the ball into the net with their constant one-twos in and around the area? I'm not an Arsenal fan yet even I was shouting at the telly yesterday for one of them to have a pop. It must be so frustrating watching it week in, week out.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
The thing about Arsenal and the supposed great football they play is they can't do it against the big teams. No plan B no points.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
You aren't the only non Arsenal fan that does that Y2. They just see to believe that they have to complete a certain amount of passes before they can score. So many times there is a glaring opportunity for them to shoot yet they decide to make a ridiculous pass.
Another thing that Arsenal can't hack is a team that get in their faces and are a little bit physical. They've bottled it against teams like Blackburn, Stoke and recently Bolton. They are all teams that don't let you pass the ball. Like you said again Y2, they don't have a plan B. If they can't play football they look lost.
All this just proves how much in need Arsenal are of a couple of players that can do the nitty gritty stuff and roll their sleeves up when it matters.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
The worse thing that Fabregas could do is join Barcelona he doesn't fit in with there style of football and with Xavi,Iniseta am not sure where he would fit in.The best thing for him to do is stay or Arsenal or join another spanish or english club.
Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
Real Madrid would be perfect for him. He won't get a game for Barca but he's better than Ozil and Khedira so would be guaranteed a start their and if Jose is still their he would be winning trophies. Mourinho=trophies Wenger=pass. pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass look we've won nothing again.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
He would be stupid to move to Barcelona, as much as he want's to go and I'm sure they'd pay him well, he won't play and I'd rather play football and not win trophies then sit on the bench while others win the trophies, he would only play due to injuries and even then the fans wouldn't be happy as he can't fit with their style. Could always go to Chelsea?

No one has mentioned Man City they could blow everyone out the water with a fee and wages.

I think Fabregas' main ambition is to win things, and that's almost a guarantee at Barcelona these days, plus their wages aren't to shabby either.
For those that think Fabregas wouldn't get into the team, you have to remember that football is now a squad based game. With Barca likely to be competing in anything up to 60 games a season it's very easy to see Fabregas getting at least 40 of those. Plus, Xavi is 30+ and Fabregas has the versatility of someone who can both back up play and get ahead of the ball.

Like most already If Cesc cant get in the Spanish team why would Barca pay so much for him when its their players that keep him out, he'd be better at Real but Barca seem to be his only option, Man Utd should bid for him

Pedro is a wide man that scores loads of goals. Pedro is better out wide than Iniesta and Iniesta is better in the middle than Cesc. Simple Cesc is a squad player at Barca.

In fairness after that interview I'm not sure how commited fabregas is to the club and he has not been playing that well.

Except every single time Wenger has said it about Fabregas... Obviously this latest one is yet to be tested as the transfer window is yet to open, but apart from that latest claim he has repeatedly rejected offers for Fabregas.prettyboykev wrote:Usually when a manger says a player is going nowhere it means he is off.

Maybe so but with Wengers transfer policy and Barca sniffing around Cesc, it doesn't look like it will be long.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
With Wilsheres performance yesterday along with Ramsey and Song, I think Wenger will probably sell Fabregas and buy a few players to strengthen the overall squad. Who he buys however remains a mystery. To be honest I can see Arsenal getting £30+ million for Fabregas and only spending 10-15million of that on the squad.

Thats a problem though Ramsey is good but not at Cescs level and doing that would make Arsenal a worse side than they are now.

I agree with this, if they sell Fabregas and expect Ramsey to be his full time replacement then Arsenal get worse, they could try shifting Nasri inside but then they need someone good enough on the left wing.prettyboykev wrote:Thats a problem though Ramsey is good but not at Cescs level and doing that would make Arsenal a worse side than they are now.

Re: Fabregas Will Be Gone...
I have for a long time thought Fabregas leaving Arsenal wouldn't be catastrophic.
He is a great player, no doubt, but you'd get good money for him and I don't think he is irreplaceable.
If Arsene would dare, I'd say sell him and bring in Modric and a decent goalkeeper.
