Glasgow have won the cup 3 years in a row - can Edinburgh reverse the tide? Current form suggests no, but with this being the only thing left in the season to play for there's always a chance. Glasgow need wins to keep momentum in the Rabbo, and Edinburgh can overtake Glasgow in the league if they win both legs (unlikely).
Bring it on!!!!!

On a side note, don't see why the weedge slag Edinburgh off for the lack of atmosphere at Murrayfield - it's hardly partisan at Scotstoun!
Really need to try to get some points - don't want Glasgow running away with it

I don't speak much Gaelic so I'm listening to bbc Scotland's commentary. Peter wright is quality. "That's a rubbish decision, I'm away to have a word with the linesman."

Awesome from Ryan Grant, he's been Scotland's most consistent player for the last 6 months.
Glasgow have so much more threat than Edinburgh out wide, plus Matawalu is a constant nuisance.
Edinburgh look clueless.

Edinburgh look like they'll never score a try! Clueless in attack, no invention, attacking in ones and two's not as a coherent team.
Awful.
Credit to Glasgow though - they took their chances well and looked dangerous in attack.

Re: 1872 Cup Match Thread - Glasgow V Edinburgh
How does Lee Jones continually get a game?
Surely he recognises that he is so bad at tackling, its not funny. If he does realise this, why doesnt he work to remedy it? If he isnt working to remedy it, he is a disgrace to the title of a professional. If he doesnt realise that he is 9 times out of 10 the person who makes the missed tackle that leads to a try, why is no one telling him?
Im just waiting for the next round of player interviews in the scotsman where the players imply that were bad fans for criticising them. Im sorry, if were paying £25 to watch you on a freezy night, you are dam well answerable to us for the unprofessional attitude you show to your job. There ive said. I am calling into question a large portion of our squads commitment and attitude. Its been the elephant in the room for far too long. They think they are above criticism from plebs like us. Weve never played at their level, so our opinion is worthless. Ive had it with these guys. They are an embarrasment to our club, our city, and our country. Im seriously considering not coming back, and ive got a season ticket.

Great play a minute ago by Grant Gilchrist boshing Al Kellock and then ripping the ball of him mid tackle. Gilchrist looks like he is turning into a pretty tough and rugged 2nd row.

I'd disagree, I've been impressed with Grant Gilchrist, he has looked up for it and done a lot of the unnoticed work tonight in and around the rucks and mauls and made a lot of tackles!

Yeah Gilchrist has been good.
When will Edinburgh learn - we have scored 11 to their 6 this half, just a shame that we lost 3 tries in the first half!

Yeah 2nd half we have looked better and more up for it, 1st half we seemed really sluggish and the backs seemed to have really heavy legs.
Possible being overtrained in the warm up?

Re: 1872 Cup Match Thread - Glasgow V Edinburgh
Well that was an awful spectacle!
Credit to Glasgow for 3 well taken tries but the game was just crap after that. I feared a cricket score but Glasgow seemed to play like they'd already done enough and were content with the win and luckily Edinburgh picked it up to make it competitive.
Very poor game, bye bye Bradley, and take Lee Jones with you!

Doubt they would be overtrained in the warm up, more likely the pitch cutting up meant the players were getting tired quicker.

Re: 1872 Cup Match Thread - Glasgow V Edinburgh
Stand out players for me
Glasgow
Pat McArthur Good in the loose, lineout throwing seemed good.
Rob Harley Great in defence, did a lot of work at the rucks and maul
Niko Matawalu looked dangerous all the time.
Sean Maitland had a few great breaks and looked to get involved with some neat passes.
DTH great finishing and looked busy.
For Edinburgh
Greg Laidlaw looked busy at 9, tried to get the back line moving. great cover in defence, has to be scotland 9
Grant Gilchrist looked tough and rugged in 2nd row, destroyed kellock in one tackle.
Matt Scott Couple good breaks, looked solid in defence. Better position is 12 or 10 though
Edinburgh front row at the scrum!

Have to say the mouth watering match up of Visser V Maitland was an absolute non event.
Neither player looked interested all game, in fact can't even remember them getting the ball. Hopefully we will see more next week.

Disagree about Maitland, he was hungry for work, had a few good breaks in first half and gave the scoring pass for DTH's 2nd try. 2nd half didn't see ball out wide but came off his wing alot.
Visser on the otherhand was known existent today, looked uninterested.

There was one about 10 mins into the first half and then another just before the 25 min mark I think it was. He carried quite a few metres taking the ball close to the ruck area. I was quite impressed by him considering the pitch conditions tonight!

haha true, can we not suspend the thread before they come on.
Have to say I'm worried about next weeks game on the bigger pitch at murrayfield, DTH and Maitland could be really dangerous on the wide and better pitch.

Glasgow should have brought Weir on sooner, kicked the game beyond Edinburgh then go for the bonus point.
Hogg looks like he's lost a yard of pace, not back at 100% or bulked up too quickly?
