So nice to see us playing a FB at FB and two proper tricky wingers with pace! JJ needs a good game, he's had an average season. Good to see Corbs back in an England shirt though

Re: Fantasy Aviva Season 1 - Homepage
I think they will get it together at the last minute and we will face the daunting prospect of:
9. Genia
10. O'Connor
11. Tomane
12. Barnes
13. AAC
14. Ioane
15. Beale
with Lealifiano and Folau on the bench and Mitchell, Cooper and maybe Mogg playing their parts in the later tests.
However I'd rather face your team

I just can't see JOC starting at ten. He is a liability in defence as it is, and I'm sure our forwards would relish it. Beale can go at FH or FB and will play if he sorts himself out. Cooper has ended his Oz career for a while, especially with the players they have coming through. Toomua the Brumbies FH looks ready within the year for Int rugby.
Much like Folua, his intercept today was just brilliant.

He has a pretty respectable 89% tackle rate this season and has made 65 tackles, his defence isn't that bad at all, and this is playing for the rebels...
Actually his stats are overall pretty good for a player at the Rebels- http://www.rugbystats.com.au/rugby/super15/player-stats.html?refresh=1369423851809
http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/wallabies-defence-and-tackling-statistics-in-2010/ looking at this Beale is not exactly a great defender, and that was playing at 15 where the tackling is more covering and less physicality

Re: Fantasy Aviva Season 1 - Homepage
I accept that his tackle rate is higher than I expected, but it's a very easy target for the Lions back-row especially.
Beale makes up for with his attacking intent. To be fair when he has played at ten he is solid. But its hard to say that there isn't a fullback that is always in the right place at the right time.

And JOC doesn't do attacking intent?
Tbf I'd rather face Barnes (or Cooper, who is weak in defence, leads turnovers given in the competition errors) and than either of them

Re: Fantasy Aviva Season 1 - Homepage
JOC is a cracking defender, he's had one bad game defensively against the Blues the whole time I've watched him.
Even that game against Blues wasn't too bad, he got palmed off which was an error on his part. When Ranger ran through him he shouldn't have been on the pitch as he'd injured his chest in a previous tackle, he'd just got back up if I remember correctly and then went straight off after.
Deans has said he'll start 10 more than likely with Barnes at 12.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Season 1 - Homepage
To my mind JOC is better utlised in the wider spaces. not so much a target. I didn't quite mean he lack attacking instinct. But he would be targeted, and that would lead to more tackles being missed.

Gonna disagree with you here, chap. JOC is probably a better winger than a 10 in my eyes, but Aus have better back 3 players than stand-offs so if fit he'll play where Aus need him

He's obviously proven in the wider channels, I still think he can be a world class 10/12 where he can cause more damage. He's such a talent with ball in hand

Great clip CJ, it has that front on tackle on Spies I mentioned before.
Interesting most of his work is done in the 12 channel in those clips often as 1st/2nd receiver.
Amazing talent, my fav back in rugby currently, boy has the lot.

Little bit of blow for the AB's with Whitelock out. They're going to have a pretty inexperienced front five very soon. Not short of talent though!

Does anyone fancy doing a summer tournament to keep up the activity?
We could have rules such as leaving players involved with the Lions out?
Thoughts?

Is this the beginning of the end for Conrad Smith as an AB?

Centres cupboard not looking brilliant for ABs with Kahui broken and in JP, Ranger in cracking form, but suspect defensively and SBW playing the wrong sport!

It's this sabbatical McCaw is on, think Carter is doing the same at some point.

Congrats to the Falcons, Driver and Pooly!
Thoughts on next season? Is the squad considerably better than London Welsh? Or perhaps better than Worcester / Irish and enough to drag them down again into a relegation battle?
Blair is a pretty huge signing, I guess there might be more to come as well

Cheers Bathite, it's been a long slog of a season. Was nervy viewing last night.
Our squad at the minute is only better then Irish for me, we'll be close to Worcester and Sale. A few key signings and we'll be bottom 4 or higher hopefully.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Season 1 - Homepage
Surely a better set up and better planned than London Welsh. Wuss have made some good signings though, Thomas, Creevy, Mieres, Warwick all classy players.
KP always quite difficult place to get a win, but aren't you relying on Hodgson at 10 quite a bit? Clegg isn't an ideal back up either. I guess Blair takes some pressure off the 10.
Irish need to do some serious recruitment, they've lost Corbs, Joseph, Garvey, Gibson, Sisi, Watson and probably some others I've forgotten

Looks like you're Newcastle Falcons next season CF.
I'll have a think of squad numbers you can bring through, who has Falcons players on here now?
CF you can take on the Falcons academy (some top players coming through) and we'll help you with the squad if you like. Have a look at the current Wasps academy andf see if there's anyone you want ti bring through.
Flux, you can take on the Wasps academy as of next season as Welsh don't have one.

We've signed Goodman at 10 too Bathite, he's a Gopperth type 10 with a good boot.
I like to think our coaching set up is slightly better set up than Sale/Irish but may be wrong.
On this season I'd have put us bottom 4 above those two, so hard to compare though.
