Guaranteed top 4 going into the HC break. Lets hope we can keep the momentum going when we come back.
Any idea what the treviso red card was for?
Warriors have now scored 30 tries this season, which is a vast improvement on last seasons total of 34. Conceded 18 so far, with only Munster and Ospreys with less tries against.

Re: Rabo, Round 13: Glasgow Warriors v Benetton Treviso
It was the most obvious spear in tackle on Big Al right in front of the idiot referee who btw was shocking throughout. Once again we made very heavy weather of putting away a team esp when Big Al went off after 50 - took Nico the Nutter and Hoggy in the last 5 minswho looks firmly back on form. Worrying injuries to Wilson Lowe and Seymour but 6 tries and a very entertaining evening . Jacko kicked very well and got MoM - I thought it should have been Strauss or Hogg. Up to second way hey !

Great win for the Weedge!
I was worried they would do the same as they have done for the last few weeks and dominate a team but only score 3 tries, but it was fantastic they got the try BP.
I hope they can keep it up - shame they are being interrupted but meaningless HK games now because they really need to keep up this league form.

How did Dunbar do? Kind of keen on him hitting some form for the six nations - big lad that can play 13 and mark Tuilagi? Yes please!

Dunbar was very sound and got a rousing when he came off. Hoggy went to centre and from there scored the last try.

I'm not sure that Dunbar has shown enough thus season to quite make the 13 shirt his own - Grove must be in with an outside chance and SLamont too?

Just yesterday I said I didn't think Glasgow would accumulate enough BP's to make the playoffs - doh.

Re: Rabo, Round 13: Glasgow Warriors v Benetton Treviso
On a side note I see that an Edinburgh side who have reached rock bottom managed a crowd of 3800 whereas a high flying Glasgow side who have just pumped their rivals twice only got 3600.
yes there were probably more travelling Leinster fans than trevisio but it is worrying that this is Glasgow's best season ever - with some star names now in the team - and crowds are still so small.
And I'm really not on the wind up here - was just amazed when I saw the figures! Edinburgh didn't even give out any free kids tickets like they often do!

Don't get us started RDW. In a city with three universities, RSA, the Art School, lord knows how many colleges and rugby clubs (and given Rangers return to cleaning the chimneys in the SPA Division 27) it's ludicrous that it isn't full every week.
If they stopped playing games on Friday night, it would help although as has been previously thrashed to death on these boards, it is a club that is very badly marketed at student level and the failure to attract a major shirt sponsor has to go down as a massive missed opportunity. Word has it that they weren't short of local suitors, they were just holding out for too high a price.

Re: Rabo, Round 13: Glasgow Warriors v Benetton Treviso
It's frustrating because Glasgow are actually offering a decent product now.
A winning team, star players, fantastic facilities and a great family atmosphere. Yes it is a bit rubbish having the 'clubhouse' in a gym hall but that can be worked around.
So to get 3600 is pretty terrible. It is also terrible only getting 3800 at Murrayfield but you can perhaps understand that given the circumstances.
The Glasgow marketing guy (do you have one??) should be sacked!

Re: Rabo, Round 13: Glasgow Warriors v Benetton Treviso
GLove, I saw that and almost replied ... but when I read it first I thought the implication was that he was doing better than his predecessor, so I took a deep breath and didn't bother replying. But the more I think about it, I don't believe that we are in a position to agree with Blair yet, nor is he in a position to make his claim, and here's why - with a vastly improved playing squad (Richie Gray's loss aside), it's only half way thru the league and Glasgow are no better off than last season, and there was no noticeable improvement in the Heino, in fact, arguable a worse set of results to far. Winning the 1872 Cup for the umpteenth time against the MFLs doesn't really cut it for meGLove39 wrote:Interesting tweet from Mike Blair today @mikeblair9: "I hope all the people doubting @gregortownsend's appointment at Glasgow have been in touch with him to say what a great job he is doing.."

Re: Rabo, Round 13: Glasgow Warriors v Benetton Treviso
Fortunately for glasgow winning the 1872, hopefully making the Rabo play offs and being whitewashed in Europe will be enough for the SRU to annoint Toonie as the next king of Scottish rugby, namely head Scotland coach in the summer.
Yes, Glasgow are going great guns in the league but the standard of the competition has really dipped from previous seasons.
Consider the current position in the Heino. All 6 groups have Rabo teams at their tail ends. Both Scottish teams ( played 8 lost 8) both italian teams (played 8 lost 8) and 2 welsh teams ( Scarlets and Blues: played 8 lost 8).
Only the Irish teams have bucked the trend and the top 3 of these ( Ulster, Leinster and Munster) are the ones that Glasgow havent looked like beating yet this year.
Glasgow have never had the depth of squad that they have this year, the playing budget must have been significantly increased from previous years, and given the still small crowds i dont see how this investment is sustainable in the long run. I can only think that this year is all about shoe horning Toonie into the hot seat at Murrayfield.

Ian,
don't think so but I did attend that game straight from festive frivolities 'up the toon" so it could have been me. It would have been hard to get too excited about that game anyway as it was utter bollix !

You heard it here 1st.
(Probably won't fecken happen now that I've said it)
Glasgow exceeded my expectations, and Munster disappointed. Leinster edged past the Ospreys into 3rd instead.
Rob K WAS subbed at BANG ON 62 mins (ok 61 mins and 42 seconds) And Leinster did get the BP in Embra but Rob was not the scorer.

This annoys me. With a better squad, Townsend has failed to match Lineen's HC record from the prior season, and matched (perhaps slightly bettered) Lineen's performance in the league thus far. It's obviously early days, but given Glasgow's poor HC showing this season (Lineen finished 2nd in his group the season before), Townsend needs to at least make the play-offs to match Lineen, and he has a better squad.
For the record, I don't doubt Townsend's appointment as Glasgow coach. I know it was a ridiculous appointment. After head coach of Scotland and Edinburgh , the Glasgow head coaching role is the most prestigious rugby job in Scotland, and it went to a man with no experience of anything other than failure as a coach. Whether he's successful or not, his appointment was a shambles.
Yes, overall Glasgow have been decent this season, but 8 points in league were served up by Edinburgh being dreadful. Prior to those games Glasgow were on a pretty grim run. Far too soon to declare that Townsend is doing a "great job" Mr Blair.
