Klitschko
First topic message reminder :
Was going to write a full review of this but realised I could not be bothered, so just wondered if anyone else had seen the documentary Klitschko. Me and TSMR watched it the other day and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. Make no secret of the fact that I have a lot of time for the brothers and the documentary did nothing to change this opinion, they come across as likeable, intelligent but extremely driven individuals.
Am not sure the film will convert anyone who is not already a fan but the production values and amount of fight footage should mean any boxing fan should find enough in there to enjoy and when one sees the injuries and setbacks they have had to overcome at various times of their career it is hard not to admire them. Also as it can be picked up fairly cheaply now I would recommend it.

Re: Klitschko
I was taking exception to Haye being described as a defining fight for anyone and the over evaluation of him as a fighter.

Who over valued him? no one compared him to Ali.

If there was a loudmouthed controversial overaggressive loutish yob playing croquet he'd get slated. I'd imagine croquet fans want their "stars" to be the epitome of class.
Spectators of certain activities expect their competitors to behave in a certain ways and demonstrate certain qualities.
It's a sad fact that boxing fans are disappointed with a champion that fans from some other sports would consider irreproachable.
It says a lot about the typical boxing fan. I'd expect klitschko to be the darling of croquet should he play.

Re: Klitschko
With regards to Haye as a defining fight, while I saw someone write that Vitali's record is comparable to Haye's the fact is that whatever the relative quality of fights, Vitali has established since his return from retirement with 9 defences of his world title against all comers that he is the definative number 2 in the division.
Is Haye number 3, probably, he has speed, a chin and power plus a very credible crusierweight pedigree and was holding a peice of the world title.
But and this is me personally is my biggest critisim of Haye's heavyweight foray, is that in terms of fights Haye's record dosn't scream, definative number 3, Valuev was the champion so no problems there, and I believe Ruiz was a mandatory, perhaps these two wins were comparable with anyone Vitali's fought but then what? The Harrison debacle and a lot of mouthing off and severed head t-shirts.
Haye could have gone out of his way to take bigger fights, why could he not have fought Areolla, Chambers, Povetkin, Thompson? (trying to remember whoever was considered a contender at the time) even a couple of those fights would have confirmed what most already suspected, that Haye was the next best thing after a Klitschko.
Instead of that Haye took the easy route and instead of being a definative threat to Wlad who could have been classed as a defining fight, he instead got shown up as a loud mouth with a broken toe.
