Heino Cup Pool 5, Round 6: Exeter Chiefs vs Leinster
First topic message reminder :
Well here we are at the last of the pool games, with lowly Exe (and one or two other results) standing between the current European champions and qualification for the knock-out phase of this year's tournament. Leinster overcame the challenge of the Chiefs back in October at the RDS with a 9-6 victory. Thoughts?

I would agree except he had played all 4 of the HC games in question hasn't he? Of which is where the stat come from so not sure why you mention last season or the Rabo where players are managed far more than HC.
I thought the tackle stat was for last season. If it is for this season though, why would he have had more game time than any other hooker as you suggest?

See how that might come across as emotional? Because it's certainly not reasonable!
I have never said any of the things that you are claiming. Best is the most consistent player from touch, he is extremely good on the ground and in the scrum. His carrying is not as good as the other options, he may not hit as hard as others, but I don't see why that might not be relevant. I agree that of course there is the possibility that he will not be the Lions test hooker, but I think that he is the best option at this stage and unless other players have a big Six Nations and he has a poor one he will definitely make the tour. I think that there is a good chance he will not be the test hooker, as I don't think that Gatland rates him particularly highly, I think that this would be a mistake.

Anyway back to the game, Leinster looking a lot sharper this half. Hopefully they will tighten up in the defence.
Does anyone else think Cronin has vastly improved recently? He started this season badly, but he has been so good the past number of games.

He seems to have sorted his head out, he was supposed to be unhappy and planning on returning but since the Clermont double header he has been immense.
Leinster will want another few tries.

Poite tends to ignore in from the sides and off your feet at the ruck area, makes it a bit of a mess.

How do Kearney and Fitzgerald come back from such long injury layoffs (Fitz especially) and hit the ground running like they have? They looks so good with no gametime to get up to speed

There we go thats all I've said, Best is best option right now, he is most consistent but others form and developing continues and his consistency will be overlooked. I've never said he is bad at anything, just that he isn't as strong in certain areas as others!
Apologies by the way but when your arguing against numerous posters who all try to put words in your mouth you forget who says what exactly, my bad man
Between the 4 posters though you are all claiming he is dominant in every area.

Cheeky by O'Brien for that try! I would be raging at that if I was an Exeter fan! Delighted for Leinster though.

Just thinking the same thing, he looks 21 again!!! I thought he started to look his age recently, but then with Healy, SOB and co's carrying it's probably buoyed him somewhat!

There is a noticable lack of rust, but in reality it's not like they are defending for their lives, or the ball is flying touch to touch, a lot of the Leinster work is fringes and wide channells.

Still 17-26
Sexton just kicking a crazy long kick from his own 22 and it went dead behind the try line and a scrum to Exeter (80m loss apparently)

Awfull Golden? He hit that so sweet, just took one of those bounces that are rare and pick up velocity after hitting the ground.

I've got to say I find it ridiculous that players don't have to let go when they go off their feet at a maul. Should be out of the game when you're off your feet.

He has, but he is terrible at the rucks, really lets everything go and then picks up on random things, no consistency.
