Heino Cup Pool 5, Round 6: Exeter Chiefs vs Leinster
First topic message reminder :
Well here we are at the last of the pool games, with lowly Exe (and one or two other results) standing between the current European champions and qualification for the knock-out phase of this year's tournament. Leinster overcame the challenge of the Chiefs back in October at the RDS with a 9-6 victory. Thoughts?

Yeah he has. Because I was thinking he had penalised Exeter for it earlier.

Poite allows people to flop over the ball, but when someone makes a legitimate turnover, on their feet, he penalises them.
His interpretation of the laws confuse me I have to say.

Exeter rampaging, break deep and clean, called as blocking... not for me!! The ball carrier did round his own player but he wasn't obstructing anyone!

Poite really has no consistency at the breakdown, although BOD was def leaning on the tackled player Poite couldve called 6 more tonight for either team similar to that one!!!

I thought that as well but I think it was Baxter blocking that was called. He definately got in the way of Cullen.
I can see Exeter shooting themselves in the foot going for the try. But it doesn't really effect them in the long run so why not?

That is a shocking decision. Cullen came flying in at the side and knocked White off his feet. A truly shocking decision.

I'm pretty sure Cronin won't be the Lions hooker. Because he can't throw straight.

well exeter have hardly given a lesson in releasing the tackled player.
poite has been useless for both sides
that penalty will secure the game and knock us out of the HC cup

Ex just not good enough. I'm torn, I'd sort of like the new boys to have a chance but they are in Devon, its a bit too much to support them.
Dublin were clearly better anyway. Sad that there is no European not yea as ex would have got better with experience I think.

5th try wouldn't make a difference. We needed 6 to make Munster need 5 according to Sky

He is a good ref but a few decisions really let him down. That was a joke ive seen knock on advantage last longer.Rory_Gallagher wrote:That is the shortest penalty advantage ever? He didn't call it over either. Bizarre.

He's a horrible ref, absolutely no consistency and his communication with players his poor, even when he's reffing two french sides.

Lot of people not giving Leicester a chance I see?
I can see Munster falling a touch short and Leicester pipping it, either way how much do the Quins and co want to avoid those 3 teams? All can pull out away performances, I'd rather CA or Toulon over those 3!

I suspect it'll be close. Racing may genuinely give it a go or they may do the French thing and just send a nothing squad as its gone anyway.
I hope the put a proper squad out.
Leinster have the points so its their advantage right now.
Shame this competition looks over with the English and French out from next year. I'll miss it,

People are expecting Leicester to win tomorrow and not have to worry about runner up spots.
