England are going to get a hiding by Australia in the limited overs matches
Judging by the way Australia have beat the West Indies in the first ODI today where they didn't just beat them easily inside 20 overs but they were ruthless in the way that they destroyed and dismantled the West Indies, it looks like the Aussies have managed to assemble the most talented and skilled squad in the T20/ODI match formats in World Cricket. A talented young batsmen like Glenn Maxwell makes someone like Kevin Pietersen (who is considered one of the best limited overs batsmen in World Cricket) look like an average county batsman in terms of pure attacking batsmanship, whilst the way a young pace bowler like Mitchell Starc bowls where he can bowl with high sustained pace with being able to maintain good accuracy and to swing the ball very late makes our best bowler James Anderson look a county standard bowler. Also the Aussies have managed to find yet another good left arm seam/pace bowler in James Faulkner, whilst we in England can't even find one decent left arm seam/pace bowler.

I don't think you can guage anything about a team from individual T20 matches. They can be a lottery at times. Anyway weren't Australian blown away for 74 only a few weeks ago?

Not sure, but today's match between Australia and West Indies was supposed to be a 50 overs ODI match and the Aussies got those runs easily inside even 20 overs whilst destroying what supposedly is a fairly decent West Indian batting lineup in the limited overs format of the game.

Oh sorry, didn't pick up it was an ODi. It can happen though as PSW has shown.

But in both cases in those 2 matches V England, WI at least made it to a 100 before being all out despite not having some of their best batsmen available, whereas V Australia in this first ODI match today, they had available what is currently their best batsmen in all formats of limited overs cricket, and yet they they still could make it even to a 100 batting total.

This match was in Perth.
Very little can be taken from it in relation to what might happen elsewhere.
But I am quite sure GBN is well aware of that . He is either "stirring" or "stimulating debate" , whichever you wish , as is his habit...

It does get a bit repetitive to see these threads every time any player/team has one good performance. Not just confined to the cricket section on here, see the recent Li Na article on the Tennis section for example.
Every joke has a shelf-life and does not become funnier if repeated ad nauseum.

Steady on GBN...
It was just one match but yes for anyone who saw it must admit it was a performance of the highest order. Starc was awesome. Let's see how today's match goes. WI have the potential to hit back... and Australia may fall over themselves yet again.
