Why isn't Jonathan Humphreys Wales forwards coach?
At least he could be? It seems completely logical. My only guess is that the Ospreys value him too much, pay him very very well and won't part with him.
You do have to ask the question though. Rarely do any backs perform without a decent pack doing at least the basics well. I would have Humphreys in there like a shot. He could twice the job of both Howley and McBryde.
How long has he been with the Ospreys now? No Welsh region has had a consistent pack like they've had, not to mention the success of winning 4 leagues.
What's also shocking is the amount of Welsh coaches coaching abroad that are better than the ones in Wales
Ruddock
Lyn Jones
Nigel Davies
Kingsley Jones
.....Dai Young, to an extent!

I agree with all on that list but are we talking about the same Humphreys that people wanted to get rid of aling with Hore and Holley etc a season or so back?

I don't think Humphreys ever got the same criticism that Holley, Hore and Johnson got - just general criticism when the team was playing badly.
I don't think he would be a bad option for Wales. Just a pity Roger Lewis signed on all the coaching staff until 2015 when Wales were playing well.

That's just rugby fans for you! Rarely do people sit back and take a second to think about all areas of the game and are only satisfied if there is a dazzling backs try etc..
I think Shane Bevington showed that props are no longer fat!

Well not all props lol.
For what its worth I think Humphreys would do a far better job than McBryde but he will have to wait until after the next WC IMO when maybe a new coaching set up will bring him on board.

The other issue is what if Humphreys coaches Wales, but a lesser coach replaces him at the Ospreys. Wales could potentially have lower quality players coming from the regions then. Could backfire!

Thats a chance they all take but not many Clubs/Regions would stand in the way of carear development etc. What would be seen as further development though, moving on to the Welsh set up as forwards coach or staying with the Os and maybe moving up to head coach role?
Could Humphreys do the head coach role, we have seen Howley struggle albeit as interim.

Ospreys fans have been calling for Hums head for years. Especially as part of the Ho-Hum set up (Holley and humphreys).
It's hard to know if humphreys is a great forwards coach but with Duncan Jones / Ryan Bevington as loose head, Hibbard as tight head, Adam Jones as tight head, Alun Wyn Jones and Ian Evans as locks, and a back row of Ryan Jones, and Tipuric you's have to say the Ospreys pack has a lot of talented and experienced players.

Why 'Dai Young to an extent'? The Blues haven't been as good since he left, and he's turned Wasps around a bit or at least made them more competitive than they were. Others on that list are more 'to an extent' that Young. What has Kingsley done? Ruddock since leaving Wales? Didn't set Worcester on fire and Ireland U20's isn't exactly a top job (no offence).

Simply because he was terrible as a forward himself when he played and captained Wales in 1996. Anyway if Wales want a forward coach who can bring plenty of experience from his playing days at an international level, they should ask England's great number 8 Dean Richards whether he is interested in taking this role with Wales, or even the former All Black number 8 Xavier Rush who has prior experience of playing rugby in Wales with the Cardiff Blues.

Why isn't Ron Waldron given another chance as the Wales coach, but this time he will have a better set of players to work with?
