Glasgow Warriors v Ulster, Scotstoun, Friday 22 February 2013, 1935 hrs
First topic message reminder :
Huge game for The Warriors and a real test for the so called 'dirt trackers' against the top of the table. Who starts at FH with Wee Dunky presumably back with Scotland for the Sunday 6Ns? Does The Messiah start or Peter Horne (if available)? Who goes at hooker with Pat MacA back with Scotland and Dougie Hall and Fin Gillies injured ? Where do we play Mata - SH please Toonster ? The previous games this season at Ravenhill and Scotstoun have been too easy for Ulster so we need to big up, front up and play the game we are capable of starting with the forward battle.
Looks like it will be a sell out boys and girls so get your tickets soon. My one and two teams in the Rabo going head to head at two and one in the league - cannot wait to see who will be !

come on Ulster, Glasgow Peter Horne is awful. surely that was a forward pass if our earlier one was though
Re: Glasgow Warriors v Ulster, Scotstoun, Friday 22 February 2013, 1935 hrs
It's just not Peter Hornes day is it?
7 points to win it... c'mon Ulster.

How the hell did Horne miss that? Even I as a former prop could have nailed that one.

If Glasgow lose this then I suspect Peter Horne will have a very cold week from the team this week.

Pienaar has been shockingly poor tonight

Pienaar really has been shocking at times. He needs some time off before the quarter-final.

Well done Glasgow, deserved the win, Pienaar needs to go have a rest for a bit he was awful tonight. Olding and Walsh impressed, Birch and Allen did ok, Trimble was much better when on the wing, Ricky Andrew did well but overall it was pretty poor from us. I still don't think that was forward btw lol
Re: Glasgow Warriors v Ulster, Scotstoun, Friday 22 February 2013, 1935 hrs
it's frustrating being an Ulster fan is it? We play some good stuff but waste the opportunities we create with a butchered 3 vs 1 or a scrum against the head. We defend like lions then give away two shocking tries.
All the same Glasgow have played well and deserve to win. I'm just frustrated about conceeding the bonus point try. It comes down to two poor mistakes from Ruan Pienaar and Paddy Wallace. Glasgow deserved their win and they are developing into a very good side.
I'm just frustrated we once again didn't play to our potential

Good win from glasgow - and Matawalo - what a game. High risk is understating it but how much did he create to go with his collection of knock ons and forward passes :-)

Missed Horne getting taken out in the air ( was it Horne/ ) what else did he miss?
I thought he played advantage well. You heard him call advantage over as Ulster got an overlap in the corner and the scoring pass was forward. Exactly right in that ulster had a clear scoring opportunity.

Can Glasgow keep Matawalu much longer? He's got to be just about the most entertaining rugby player to watch anywhere. Pity he's played for Fiji, what a 'project player' he would have been.
Thought Bennett was pretty good tonight, starting to live up to his potential now I think. In light of De Luca's clownish antics a moment ago we need 13s who can keep the head.

There was repeated blocks from players etc Straus should have went to the bin but I don't blame Nigel for that because he couldn't see the number, the scrum was reffed poor in terms of the amount of time between the calls as well as the amount of chances he gave some palyers just my opinion guys but again I think the players were being sneaky etc and not helpping him any and Glasgow still deserved the win and it should have been more only for your kicker, hopefully next week we will do better.

Well done the Weegies. Good for the win.
Marshall changed the tempo of the game considerably. Pienaar played the RWC, all last season, the Rugby Championship and came straight back in for us.he's running on fumes - he's banjaxed.
Liked the way Ulster lifted their heads after the third try, and could have won it. The Weegies completely fell off - a very Ulster thing to do! - after the third try.
Got to say - delighted to see how busy and loud Scotstoun was.
Also on Nigel Owens -great job. Also, I dint think he gives penalties against front row players (Ofa, in this case) if he thinks they're trying. Ofa was minced, but Nigel could see he had corrected the binding issue after Nige told him to, henceforth less penalties, although Ofa was still going down. Fair play.
Well done again.

Odd that Ofa sorted his binding out once warned of a yellow card. Good to see Ulster not give up after the third try against us, but stupid mistakes cost us dearly.

Expect a more nuanced reflection when I get home. Lot of quiet ulster supporters on this train, but fair play to them - always a pleasure to host them.
Very proud of the boys tonight. #warriornation

Well done Glasgow!
Thought DTH injury took the wind out of us and we struggled to get back to the pace. Niko was his usual self, mixture of rash descion and some sublime play. Thought Strauss was MOM. If Horne is going to play we need to find a kicker.
4 BP wins on the spin. Not a bad start to 2013!

As for how long we can keep Niko, he is under contract for another 2 years.
Oh and DTH is not seriously hurt, just going to have a very sore head for a while!

Ulster should be really encouraged by that. Despite being outplayed by Glasgow they were always in the game. They just aren't going to give away two softer tries this season or continue to get on the wrong side of forward pass calls.
Ulster didn't deserve the bonus point, but by staying in it that game will have done the newbies a power of good - especially Olding. Andrew has progressed every game he has played, and both Walsh and Joyce looked competent.
After that performance every Ulster supporter should be delighted with the LBP and certainly buy Horne a drink if they see him!

Great game to watch, well done Glasgow and that Niko what a player. Can't see Horne having the kicking duties for the next game, If Weir doesn't get much game time on Sunday I think you'll have him back in the squad for the next game.

Wow!
I can not believe we were within reach of winning that game. That would have been an unjust result.
Really glad that DTH is okay. It looked like he banged his head on someone's boot when he went down in a tackle.
I always thought Firhill had a terribly sandy pitch but it would seem that was a deliberate ploy and they have shipped the sand to Scotstown!

Nico is fecking unbelievable, as is Bluto Strauss. Amazing game. FFS Townsend if you are going to get Mossy to coach your kicker, tell Mossy to tell the kicker it helps if he opens his fecking eyes. We gifted them a losing bp ffs. Bennett looked good too

Annoying that the gap is 3 points between us and not 2.
That and 2 dropped passes in the 2 Edinburgh games is the difference between us chasing and us being level on points right now.

Well done to the 20s and Glasgow backrower Adam
Ashe was man of the match!
Some depth of squad developing when our loose head came on last night he was the 51st player we have used this season.

That shows just how injury ravaged the team has been over the season so far - thank goodness most of them are on the way back. Feel for Ulster going in the other direction now, and interesting what Don said about Pienaar and tiredness - makes a lot of sense. Hopefully we will meet again in the final
