I know the season hasn't started yet, but I'm think the Canterbury Bulldogs will go 1 better this coming season. I would also expect a biig season from South Sydney.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
Really nice weather today. Clear & sunny and it will reach 29-30°C... almost too warm to think about footy.
It should drop down to the low 20s at kick-off.
I'm hearing up to 14 Cronulla players are under investigation for PED use. That's a massive blow to the start of their season.

The Sharks hang on to win 12-10 at Endeavour Field.

Melbourne beat Canterbury 22-18 at AAMI Park. Not a bad effort from the Bulldogs but the Storm had enough in the tank to see them off.

They played to plan... they are a very disciplined side. The Tigers were well covered.
That sort of surprised me. I thought it would be much closer.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
Close match at the SCG but the Tigers missed Benji and had trouble cracking the solid Dragons defence, losing 12-13.
Nice to see Norm Provan and Arthur Summons reminiscing about that famous muddy 1963 GF before the match.
Parramatta were up 22-8 with about 15 minutes to go but were then overwhelmed by the Titans who score 20 unanswered points in the closing stages.

Thought that pass for the first try looked a bit forward?
Now a Kiwi try disallowed - lost control planting it down.
Now a Kiwi try disallowed - lost control planting it down.

LB
Everyone over here was very impressed with Foran in the way he took up the captaincy (at short notice). Maybe Tovvey might look sideways at Jamie Lyon next week at training!!

He's a great player Foran.
I wouldn't mind him playing for NSW. Better than Pearce by a mile... and players like Soward and ex-Bondi Braith.
I think Lyon is a legend for the club but you're right, Foran would be someone in Toovey's sights once Lyon retires. Maybe he will in 2 or 3 years I heard.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
I was chatting with a very knowledgeable chap at the game last night. (he had the Broncos-Bunnies game on his little screen)
He agreed with me that Adam Reynolds would make a better half-back in the Origin side than Mitchell Pearce. He's blown it before... yet Laurie Daley has already made up his mind and says 15-17 players are already selected. So frustrating!

Bulldogs 40 Tigers 4
Very entertaining game if you're a Bulldogs supporter. I was sitting amongst the Canterbury faithful last night... they are starting to talk things up again.
James Graham and Sam Kasiano had big games as did Tolman. Josh Reynolds had the ball on a string.... some serious skills there.
He wouldn't look out of place in an Origin jumper. Sam Perrett was on the end of some great backline play and scored a couple of tries.
Ben Barba looked dangerous and is gathering more confidence as evidenced by that mind-boggling run near the end.
Poor old Tigers. It started badly for them and it just got worse. Benji had an OK game back from injury but as always he was ahead of his team mates and probably asked to much of them... or they simply couldn't finish off the opportunities he created.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
Some good games on later today.
Melbourne should give it to the Raiders but interestingly, Canberra have a decent record down in Victoria. It could be a blow out for the Storm but it could also be a close run contest with a try or so in it.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
I just have a strong feeling we will see a different Parramatta this evening when they play the Cowboys. There was another interesting stat: teams which got hammered the week before had about a 33% win rate the following week.
The Cowboys haven't exactly set the world on fire and they have a horrific record when playing in Sydney.
Sort of hoping that trend continues.
Good luck Kenny!

Laurie, I think the Warriors will play well too!
Big Manu back and the Titans missing Ashley Harrison (ankle), Luke O'Dwyer (broken jaw) and Matt Srarma (hand). Gordon out with a hamstring injury too.

Also tomorrow; the Knights should win comfortably over the Sharks up in Newcastle. They are gathering momentum.
The Roosters should also beat the Panthers but after last week's match you never know which team will turn up. Their record isn't too bad against the Roosters either. A bit of a bogey team at times but the Roosters look as though they will have more than enough this time.
