So the new season is here ..

With the deal proposal of a 12 team Superleague now set to come in in 2015 two teams will be losing their places at the end of this season .

I am more then interested to see how this will be done as I for one can not see it being the two teams who finish bottom of the table this season should say one or both being a team outside of Hull KR , Bradford , Wakefield , Widnes , Castleford or London ( although the RFL seem determined to keep them in Superleague no matter what ) by that i mean say Salford with all their new money finish bottom again or say Catalans or Hull FC or Huddersfield for whatever reason have a shocker of a season and finish in the bottom 2 will they lose their place in the new 12 team 2015 season ?

I think not

Bar a ten minute spell at the start of the second half, Huddersfield's defence was absolutely magnificent, and it formed the foundation of their victory. Attack wasn't shabby either. About as good a start to the season as you could hope for.

Wigan have a lot to do before the trip to Australia.

Bradford are officially relegated after there result.

The Leeds/Castleford game on Thursday was absolute quality.

Also the tries disallowed for Cas & Widnes due to obstruction were a complete farce. Something really needs to be done otherwise crowds and sky's figures will continue to drop. This along with forward passes that are littered throughout a game, and uncompertive scrums are bug barres of mine, and put me off the game.

Am hoping for Huddersfield to come through this year and finally land a major honour. Despite the league leader's shield last year, for whatever reason I wasn't filled with confidence going in to the play offs....But I get a good feeling for the Giants this time around.

Yeah, mind you still have a 2nd chance, Wigan looked awesome though. Hard to see past them, though others may have a say. Think it will be Wigan/Warrington again.

So the first Rd of play off games are over, and after 2 dull one sided Qualifying games, thank god for the 2 elimination ones. The results were:-

So Catalan continue there impressive end of season form (and outstanding play off form), with another tight fought victory.
And to the suprise of nobody are picked by Saints for next week's semi final, which will see Saints v Catalan, and Wigan v Warrington in a repeat of last years GF.
